I'm making a name for myself as the most procrastinating person in our house, which will take some doing to beat the other two. Proof of Procrastination #1 I bought an exercise bike on t'Ebay the other day. Won it on Thursday lunchtime then drove 27 miles each way to collect it on Thursday evening. Paid £96 for it. It's a really funky looking Reebok one (can you see my justifying my impulse purchase here?). I got home with it at 8pm on Thursday then just left it in the box. When ...
I am not a religious person, nor am I into all this spiritual or mystical claptrap but in the last few days there have been several strange coincidences happen around me and I'm actually beginning to think that there may be a cosmic jape going on. You'll have to bear with me because it may become a bit disjointed but I am getting freaked out by it all. The first couple of coincidences are centred round my uncle's funeral that I attended on Friday. Just for a bit of background he was my uncle ...
Last Saturday night my daughter stayed over at her boyfriend's house (she's 17 and he's 19). It's not an unusual occurence, she usually stays there one night at the weekend. All the lager louts get their England shirts out, force them over their flabby beer bellies and hit the supermarket to buy shipping orders of cheap lager and burgers for the barbecue. The England flags are brought down out of the loft to be draped from windows and they attach ridiculous little flag thingys to their car windows. It doesn't start for over a week yet tonight there's a "friendly" on the TV. Don't get me ...
For me anyway. It's that time of year when my 150odd payroll files need to be rolled over into the new tax year and all of the entries need to be checked and any corrections made. This takes me about 8 working days. Which puts me 8 days behind in all of my VAT jobs. So I spent most of last week's evenings, most of the weekend and most of last night and tonight doing my VAT at home and trying to catch up. It's so mind-numbingly boring and the worst part is that I don't get paid overtime or get ...
