there is a way of changing it back apparentally, my friend told me but I haven't done it yet. Something about dragging the status bar on your home back and it goes back to normal.

To everyone who hates the new FB layout - There's an easy fix. :) On the menu at the top left, click on MORE. Then drag STATUS UPDATES to the top, above NEWS FEED. After dragging to top, click on it. That becomes your default and HOME is like before.
