When A Stranger Calls...

It was the 2nd time I saw this one... I think it's quite good, but some things are unsolved... Who's that guy who stalked her? From what did the woman die at the beginning of the movie, when the policeman says she wasn't killed with a weapon?

8/10

Overall, I liked it. Of course the movies never do the book justice, and I honestly don't understand some of the changes they make sometimes (like Ron's house getting burned down, Harry shown being on the subway all summer, etc.). The ending was a little weak, it seemed too boring.

I liked that they kept it a little lighthearted with the comedy and the romance, since the content of the movie is dark, so it's a nice balance. But there wasn't enough action in the movie! They could've done so much more in that area.

Surprisingly, I was impressed with Dumbledore's acting, he usually SUCKS. In this movie he didn't annoy the crap out of me like in the last few.

I'd give it an 8/10. I'm really excited about the next one though! They better make it the best yet.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows - Part 1.

It was phenomenal. I'm at a loss as to why its receiving such bad reviews. It was funny, dramatic, action-packed, very decent acting (for once), a clear and concise storyline (compared to the others at least).

I sat back and watched it from the point of view of a person who hasn't read the books and genuinely thought it was quite easy to keep up with. I was delighted with the detail and really couldn't imagine the producers and screenwriters putting much more in. It seems people have a strong inability to understand that it is impossible to have a book translated to screen. Why they expect it this way frustrates me!

In the 142 minutes of the film, I didn't want it to end. I honestly thought, for me, it was close to film perfection. I just can't wait for part 2 which is even more suited to my film taste - epic battles. Going to be heartbreaking.

I'm not even going to watch Deathly Hallows until part 2 is available. I haven't even watched the previous one all the way through yet because I keep falling asleep an hour into it. It's OK though, I've read the books so I know what happens. :D

Watched Skyline last night. Had only heard bad reviews about it so wasn't expecting much from it. I'd say it was watchable, definitely very Cloverfieldish. Special effects were very good and it wasn't really gory, the plot was simple and quite boring. It has the most ridiculous ending ever though.

I've actually just done something I never usually do; watch a film without actually watching it! I bought the DVD of Lakehouse in an Asda sale some weeks ago, and only got round to it tonight. I just left it on, and didn't bother watching any of it! :P It seemed quite good though

Twilight: New Moon - I'd resisted watching this for ages because Kristen Stewart's sulky face makes me want to slap her repeatedly. Saying that though, I was able to get past it and enjoyed the film. I especially liked Taylor Lautner as Jacob the werewolf, he's got a proper fit body.

I also watched Unstoppable. It was rather boring because I hadn't done my research and it's about a runaway train. So if you like trains you'll like it, all 1.5 hours of "OMG how can we stop the runaway train?".

Really enjoyed Demolition Man the other night, shame it's so dated now - especially as "the future" was last year in real life. It's still a good film though.

I am an avid movie watcher!

I rewatched these ones yesterday:

Coraline - Such a fun animation!
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs - An obscure gem, it's great fun!
Misery - Amazing classic, I've watched it so many times I lost count, Jame Caan & Kathy Bates are brilliant, especially Kathy!
The Girl Next Door - Real life horror, unforgettable but ever so disturbing and sad!
Cradle Will Fall - Based on a real life event again, very sad and frightening a horror must see!
Martyrs - Possibly my favourite ever horror, just f*cking incredible!
Funny Games - Another corker of a horror!

Now for more recent viewingw:

My Neighbour Totoro - Hayao Mizayaki animation, it's a beautiful and fun childlike animated film about two young sisters who discover forest spirits near where they live, magical a must see!!
Princess Monoke - Another Miyazaki production, incredible animation, unforgettable, another must see!!!
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind - Another Miyazaki film (yes I'm obssessed!) What can I say just inceredible like most of his films, filled with emotion and passion, incredible characters, story another must!
Howl's Moving Castle - The Miyazaki film I think would appeal to more people, brilliant, funny, romantic, emotional, magical everything another must!
Laputa: The Castle In The Sky - Pure beauty, once they reach the elusive Laputa the film just soars even more so than before another must, the lonely robot and when princess Laputa gives him a flower! =(

The Rite - starring Anthony Hopkins, Colin O'Donohue and Ciaran Hinds.

A skeptical American priest-to-be (O'Donohue) travels to Rome to do an exorcism course.

The film is watchable but not fantastic, Hopkins is once again called upon to bring forth his Hannibal Lecter acting skills, which he does very well. The plot is paper thin and very predictable.

Last night I watched Chalet Girl. I loved it! Yes, the plot was wholly predictable but there were some wonderful snowboarding scenes and it was quite funny in places. A total chick flick though. I was slightly gutted that the snowboard tricks weren't accompanied by sparkly swirl effects from the end of the board and the commentator saying "call your momma in the room and show her how good you are" like you get in SSX. :D

It's really made me want to play SSX though so I might have to dig the PS2 out of the spare room later.
