Punchbowl Exclusive : Alexandra Burke’s debut single- “Bad Boys”

PunchbowlBlog can exclusively reveal that X Factor 2008 winner, Alexandra Burke’s new single will be called “Bad Boys”.

We were played the new track a few days ago and we smell a smash hit!

The video being shot in L.A. at the end of the month.

It will be directed by either Jake Nava or Joseph Khan, both highly prestigious video promo directors in their field.

It looks like her record label are pulling out all the stops to ensure Alexandra follows the huge success of label mate, Leona Lewis.

The track is due to be released in October - so expect a high profile X Factor performance later this year.

“Bad Boys” is an uptempo, big beat R&B / Pop number with the catchy chorus – “Bad Boys catch my eye….” Definitely one for the ladies.

Her husky vocals are reminiscent of Toni Braxton and the song itself is similar to a Christina Aguilera sound.

ONE word sprang to mind when i saw the new pics of ALEXANDRA BURKE...hallelujah!
And last year's X Factor winner doesn't just look like a fully fledged chart star - she sounds like one,too.
I had the first listen to her next single, Bad Boys, featuring FLO RIDA, and it's a surefire No 1.
The song is out on October 12 and Alex is shooting the video next week.

If the lyrics are anything to go by, i'd imagine it'll be fruity stuff.
The track opens with Flo Rida saying: "Alexandra girl, i know what you like." Alexandra's lines include: "I know i'm playing with fire but the bad boys are always catching my eye."
"The bad boys are always spinning my mind. Even though i know they're no good for me, it's the risk i take for the chemistry."

The girls always go for the bad lads.

Alexandra's come a long way from her X Factor audition - as my pics show.
Probably best she steers clear of the bad boys for a while, though. Unless she fancies Bizarre's McBadboy...

Alexandra Burke's 'Bad Boys': 30 plays later

We should have written about the new Alexandra Burke single straight after it premiered on Radio 1 this morning, but we couldn't tear ourselves away from listening to it for long enough to form a coherent sentence. Anyway, confession over, let's get on to the review.

It's called 'Bad Boys' and it's a bit of a banger. That's putting it mildly. To put it more precisely, it's a stomping electro-R&B tune with a chorus that grabs you on first listen, beats fat enough to rattle windows, a generous smattering of siren effects, some catchy "ooh-way, ooh-wah" backing vocals and the best outro of any pop single this year.

Being a bit of a banger, 'Bad Boys' doesn't require Alexandra to show off the full might of her voice, but she handles the sassy lyrics very nicely indeed. "The bad boys are always catching my eye," she sings on the chorus, "I said the mad boys are always spinning my mind." Alexandra, we know how you feel.

Before we wrap up, we should probably confront the elephant in the room. This single does, as rumours had led us to believe, feature Flo Rida. He gives himself and "Alexandra girl" a shout-out at the start and then reappears for a proper rap around the two-minute mark. But, and brace yourself for a sharp intake of breath, Flo doesn't spoil 'Bad Boys'. In fact, we'd go so far as to say that his positive contribution here makes up for all of 'Right Round' and at least a minute of 'Sugar'.

Final thought? Well, as long as she nails her X Factor performance, Alexandra Burke should be doubling her tally of number ones at around 6.40pm on October 18.

i really love this now, and I am very much looking forward for the video. I do think Robbie is gonna put up quite a fight that week though. If i was a betting man i'd say Alex will easily do it especially as she's on X Factor but Robbie is gonna be a dark horse.

Apparently for the US release of ''Overcome'' The first single will be ''Bad Boys'' and Nicki Minaj will replace Flo Rida.
