The X Factor is the biggest television show in the UK - it regularly attracts audiences of up to 15m viewers - a phenomenal amount. Anyway, the show has been finished for little more than 2 hours, and its already affecting UK iTunes charts:
iTunes Update
#49 & #249 Luther Vandross - Dance With My Father
#84 The Script - The Man Who Can't Be Moved
#95 Joe Cocker - With A Little Help From My Friends
#145 Girls Aloud - Untouchable
#155 Alexandra Burke - Hallelujah
#192 Louis Armstrong - What A Wonderful World
#194 Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell - Ain't No Mountain High Enough
#232 Bon Jovi - Always
#248 Beyoncé - Broken Hearted Girl
#280 X Factor Finalists 2008 - Hero
Another recent example is the effect that AGT had on Mariah Carey's Obsessed in the US. Her one off appearance spiked iTunes sales in her native homeland, and the song has been increasing on airplay ever since (as well as sales).
The effect of TV shows on sales is just phenomenal! Any other famous examples?
