Love the series, love the characters (especially Link, hot damn...), love it all! And it's also the 25th year of Zelda, hooray! :D

I must say however, I haven't played or finished all of the games, because some I just don't own, some I can't play (because I got rid of my GBA without realising I actually still needed it!), and some I am still stuck on!

I'm very much looking forward to Skyward Sword though. It looks AWESOME!

Looking forward to Ocarina of Time on the 3DS next month.
Will be the first game I've played in a while, bought my 3DS in anticipation for it last weekend on Amazon.
£165 with some screen protectors and Ridge Racer... a good deal I think!

Best gaming series EVAR.

I'm so excited about OOT 3D. I mean, like... I've haven't been this excited about a release since probably Twilight Princess or Taller In More Ways

Have to say though, Skyward Sword isn't impressing me overly. I'm actually a bit meh about it. Nintendo aren't helping by delaying it..... They really are sh!t when it comes to Zelda release dates.

Oh, and I DESPISE Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. Some of the worst games I had the misfortune to spend my money on. Terrible!!

I've never played any Zelda games, I don't think! :o

Gah! How can you not be excited about Skyward Sword? I'm more excited about it's release than I was with Twilight Princess, and that was the last time I was truely existed about a game's release, because for most games, as much as I want them, I can wait awhile until the price drops, but for some Zelda games, the day they're out, so is the money! :P

Phantom Hourglass was okay, but not that great... I only just finished it. I kept getting stuck on it, just because the puzzles now involve the touchscreen, which is different to your usual "like the candle to open a door" puzzles you usually get it Zelda.

A good deal indeed. I don't have a 3DS yet, and I would love to have OoT in 3D, but I'm not THAT excited about it... just because I've played the game already so many times, so other than the 3D, it's nothing new, so I'm gonna wait a while before I get one I think.

Hey dynamite! Guess who? :P I don't know if it'd be your cup of tea to be honest... what kind of games are you in to? I recommend at least playing one to see if you like it. Ocarina of Time may be a good starting point for you. :) You'll understand the story a lot better that way, as many sequels follow this game, but if you want to start from the beginning of the timeline, then Minish Cap is your game!

That reminds me... Nintendo keep the timeline a secret. In a way, it's fun to figure out which game goes where, but it would also be nice to know what goes where. We know Minish Cap is the beginning (well, I don't personally, coz I don't own the game, but people are saying it is as fact, so it must be...), but when OoT was released, that was the beginning.

So, OoT may be second, but with all the other games coming out, it could be the 6th game in the timeline by now! I read Skyward Sword is also meant to take place a long time before some of the other games... I wonder where.

I dunno why I'm so unexcited about Skyward Sword. Maybe because it reminds me of PH or ST? :(

I agree, not knowing the chronology is fun but at the same time I really want to know how it goes. I also love fans perception on the games. I read a very interesting one about the Stone Tower Temple in Majora's Mask. It was about how the people of Ikana were rebelling against the Goddesses and how some of the spikes represented something of the male anatomy

As I said, very interesting.

This is true. It's set before Ocarina of Time which is very early in the chronology I believe. I'm hoping for the creation of Majora. That'd be pretty friggen fantastic! I saw the second Skyward Sword trailer recently and it was supposed to have Skull Kid in it with Majora's Mask on. I could've sworn on anything that it was him until someone pointed out it was a Spider. To say I was disappointed was a huge understatement.

Is that so...? Before OoT? That is early... which is strange considering Link now lives in the sky. XD Doesn't seem very... histroic. I also saw the latest trailer, but I didn't notice what you thought was Skull Kid. I couldn't have been him anyway. Majora's Mask itself is an evil mask, but the Skull Kid who wore it can't possibly be that old.

Well the fact that Skyloft is completely different to Hyrule, their technology may be superior. Look at the flying beetle for example.

35 Seconds into the second trailer you can see something very similar to Skull Kid.

I couldn't have been him anyway. Majora's Mask itself is an evil mask, but the Skull Kid who wore it can't possibly be that old. Yet there you are, playing Link :P It could have been a similar case - reincarnation. Or even Time Travel. Majora is a powerful badass.

Oh, and just for a source

Yes there is a master timeline but its confidential document!” explains Aunuma-san. “The only people to have access to that document are myself, Mr. Miyamoto and the director of the title. We cant share it with anyone else! I have already talked to Mr. Miyamoto about this so I am comfortable in releasing this information – this title [Skyward Sword] takes place before Ocarina of Time. if I said that a certain title was ‘the first Zelda game’, then that means that we cant ever make a title that takes place before that! So for us to add titles to the series, we have to have a way of putting the titles before or after each other

You have a point... and yes, I've noticed the somewhat advanced looking items.

That could be... but somehow, I doubt it. I can't see Majora coming back, because I just have a feeling that it's not capable of time travel, dispite the powers it holds, but I could be wrong!

That timeline info is also interesting. Ah, I hate them for keeping it secret! >_< Surely it can't be that big of a deal!

I personally think they have no timeline

I think since the demand for a timeline has crept up, they've been creating storylines that'd fit a chronology. I think some of the Zelda games are just plain remakes (not that that's necessarily a bad thing!!).

You may be onto something there... I've also thought the same thing actually, because maybe they weren't taking the series that seriously, but fans did, and thus, talk of the timeline began. But still, maybe not... it's hard to say. I mean, for most games, there's a different Link, so to me, it seems logical that most of the Link's (exception to Wind Waker's Link and beyond) are related, anwsering the question... how is this Link related to this Link? It's be interesting to know, but I'm doubting they'll ever spill.

I'm currently reading the Zelda philosophy book, "I Link Therefore I Am", and although I thought it'd be more interesting than it actually is, it has it's interesting points, talking about the timeline, although I forgot what was said now... Maybe I could scan the pages for a quite taste of what it has to say when I look at it again. :)

Most of the book is confusing though... It goes off track a lot, going too much in depth about the psychological meaning of space, and pixels, and whatnot, and are we Link in the game, or are we just with me along the adventure?
