Dannii Minogue to judge The Voice

Dannii Minogue has reportedly been lined up to star in a BBC version of US talent show 'The Voice'.

Dannii Minogue is being lined up to judge on a BBC talent show.

The 39-year-old former 'X Factor' judge - who recently quit her role on the ITV1 programme to concentrate on 'Australia's Got Talent' - could make an instant return to UK TV on a new version of US hit 'The Voice'.

An insider told The Sun newspaper: "Bosses really want Dannii, as she was hugely popular on the 'X Factor' and really knows her stuff.

"She mentored Matt Cardle to the crown last year and is really good with contestants. She would be great on 'The Voice'."

The NBC show pulled in 10 million viewers last week and features contestants judged purely on their voice as the panel - which is made up of Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and country artist Blake Shelton - sit with their back to the wannabes.

A BBC source said: "It is a really big hit in the US and we are looking to do our own version for next year.

"But the casting of judges is really important. It is all about getting the right people involved in order to make it work."

Dannii's replacement on 'The X Factor' is expected to be N-Dubz star Tulisa Contostavlos, with Kelly Rowland also tipped to join the panel alongside show regular Louis Walsh and new judge Gary Barlow.

Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole have quit the show to focus on the US version of 'The X Factor'.

Meanwhile, Dannii has joined forces with website MyDaily.co.uk to front their 'Amazing Women, Daily' campaign.

The initiative is designed to recognise and reward unsung heroes, with anyone able to nominate the person they believe to be Britain's most amazing woman

A public vote will determine five winners each week for seven weeks, with those chosen invited to attend a special London event hosted by Dannii later this year.

The website will donate money to breast cancer charity Coppafeel with every nomination and vote cast, with the hope of raising £20,000.

Dannii said: "I can't wait to see the stories that start coming in and I'm already looking forward to meeting some of the UK's most inspiring women."

The BBC is working on plans to make all songs performed on its newly-acquired talent show The Voice available to download directly after the programme airs.

The Corporation confirmed yesterday that the show in which contestants perform popular songs in an attempt to win a record contract, is coming to BBC One next year.

The Voice has already been a massive hit in the US, debuting on NBC in April with 12m viewers, and it is expected to repeat this success in the UK.

The twist in the talent competition format The Voice offers is that it starts with a “blind audition” in which singers are heard but not seen. This is then followed by a “battle phase” in which members of each team battle against each other by singing the same song and then live performances shows.

Songs performed in the show’s first season in the US include Adele’s Rolling In The Deep, The Script’s Breakeven and Jessie J’s Pricetag.

The eventual winner in the US will receive a recording contract with Universal Republic and it is understood that UK champion will receive a contract with one of Universal UK’s labels, although the BBC said it is too early to talk about contracts.

One radical difference, however, with the UK show is that the BBC intends to make all songs performed on the night available to download for free – or with all proceeds going to charity – for seven days. They will then be release commercially after that.

The decision to sell music from talent shows directly after they air was pioneered in the UK by Sky’s Must Be The Music last year, resulting in top 10 hits for the likes of Emma’s Imagination and Pepper And Piano.

The X Factor then followed suit, although its downloads were not chart registered and it is unknown how many were sold.

In the US The Voice has four musician judges – Cee-Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and country singer Blake Shelton. The BBC is keeping tight-lipped on who the judges will be in the UK, although Cheryl Cole is widely tipped to take on a similar role after departing X Factor US.

BBC one controller Danny Cohen said the show would be “big, exciting and warm-hearted series and will be a fantastic Saturday night event on BBC One".

The Voice was developed by John de Mol’s Talpa Media company. It first debuted in The Netherlands as The Voice Of Holland in 2010 and had an immediate impact on the charts there: 30 of the show’s single reached the top 100 of the download charts, with winner Ben Saunders scoring two number one hits.

As well as the UK, local versions of The Voice are set to air in Belgium, Germany, Ukraine, Turkey and France.

John de Mol said, "The Voice stands for a new generation in its genre and I'm delighted that in the UK it has been picked up by the BBC who really share my passion and belief in the show."

Awesome! :D

We need Someone Like You! Adele 'asked to be a judge on BBC talent show The Voice

She's one of the most successful British artists of all time.

And it seems Adele's reign at the top of her game shows no sign of ending any time soon, after reports she has been asked to join the judging panel of BBC1 talent show The Voice.

The 23-year-old singer has apparently been approached to take part in the show, and would be joining a panel that is tipped to include Cheryl Cole and Cee Lo Green.

A source told the Daily Mirror: 'Adele's success is all down to her incredible voice and, int his way, embodies all that The Voice represents. She's honest, funny and loved my millions of people of all ages.

'She really has "The Voice" that can sell albums around the world so she know what to look for.'

The Voice is coming to the BBC next year after proving a huge hit in America with stars including Christina Aguilera on the panel.

And the unique aspect of the £25million show is that it aims to find someone with an incredible voice and doesn't judge contestants on their image or overall persona.

Adele has apparently not yet decided whether to take the role, but hinted that there was something in the pipeline in an interview with Radio 1's Chris Moyles yesterday.

She said: 'There's a possibility that I'm doing something quite big next year - I've got a meeting about it on Friday.'

Meanwhile, the latest album sales for 2011, released yesterday, show that Adele's second album 21 is the biggest selling record of the year so far.

In addition, her debut album 19 comes in in second place, despite the fact it was released over three years ago.

Adele took to her blog earlier this year when 21 topped the album charts in the US to express her amazement at the achievement.

She wrote: 'I remember going into the then massive Virgin store in Times Square when I was 15 where I thought how amazing it would be to one day have a record in a record shop abroad. Though I never thought it likely in the UK, because it's pretty unlikely full stop.

'The thought of my music travelling to any extent always seemed impossible! Almost 7 years later I've just been told I have a number 1 album in the US! And I can't put into specific words how I feel right now, but I've never felt this way before!'

And producer Rick Rubin also spoke recently about the success of Adele's 21, insisting it is her unique voice which has led to such huge success.
He said: 'She uses her vocal instrument in a way that we don’t get to hear a lot.

'What she is doing, it’s a very pure expression of herself and it resonates with people. There is no trickery involved. It’s a really honest album.'

She'd be a real catch for the BBC if they got her!
