Queensland have released the OFFICIAL press release for the upcoming Vanity Edge Song Contest awards, 2011!


The votes have been counted; the nominations have been verified! And I can now reveal the FINAL voting list for this year's VESC awards!!

There are fourteen award categories to be contested, with each category having a minimum of 4 finalists. Despite a relatively low turnout for stage one, 19 countries have received at least one nomination!

Leading the way with a massive 10 nominations is Norland! Norland was the first country to ever host VESC, way back in August 2009, and it was the first country registered to the song contest! Norland have hosted the contest 6 times - more than any other country, and they've won the contest 3 times. They are also the country to have amassed the highest cumulative total running score throughout the storied history of the VESC! One might argue that Norland are VESC's most enduring and legendary country.

In a surprising turn of events, the country that next scored the most nominations is a relatively new addition to the contest - Serenate & Clair! With 7 nominations, the country - which has won once, and hosted three times the contest - will no doubt shock many of its rivals! Such a healthy showing can only be a good thing! Next up, with 6 nominations apiece are Queensland & Narfzortoz. Queensland are the hosts of this year's awards, and have entered into every single contest since the VESC launched - one of only two countries to do so [the other being Norland]. However, Narfzortoz and their 6 nominations might shock many, due to the relatively fewer appearances the country has made!

With 5 nominations, Lapotre also make a strong showing; the country has won the VESC once only [VESC #19], and currently ranks in 8th place in the list of countries with the most accumulated points! Impressive stuff! Next up, we have a cluster of countries, each of which scored 4 nominations; they are Orangualia, Fabray, Greenfroze & Zanatio. Orangualia have the distinct honour of being the country that has the highest number of accumulated points, without winning the contest - over 1,300 pointS!! Fabray make a strong showing, as do Greenfroze who are arguably the most successful country in the history of the song contest, having won it a massive five times, scored a top 5 place 15 times and accumulated over 1,400 points in total! Zanatio, hosts of one of the most memorable contests we've had, and of last year's awards ceremony, are nominated in four separate categories, including the prestigious Best Contest category!

The other 9 countries to have received nominations are: Numenorien [3], FYR Moopy [2], Holy Sehrazad Empire [2], Timbuktoo [2], Siviltopica Republic [2], HazelEyes Republic of Kentucky [1], Grand Duchy Of Marmorset Flange [1], Estria [1] & Catopia [1].

Yeah, its excellent in the grand scheme of things - representing a high proportion of the newly registered countries! The current collating of the votes shows that its far from unanimous. In the event of a tie, I shall look at VESC results and a countrie's form in the contests of the last year to decide who to award as the winner of that category.

I've contacted Orangualia [Leaf] off the site as they're a massive part of the contest and I'd love to receive some votes from them; however, I've now fully collated the votes I've received and [annoyingly] there are a couple of awards that have TWO or more front runners with the same number of votes! :lol: So if anybody does want to vote in the meantime, then it'd be fine! :P

The collation of votes has been completed, however Queensland will be accepting any last minute votes over the next few days.
