I saw my brother had one of these movies when I was housesitting his house some years ago and watched it out of curiosity. My curiosity, though, quickly turned to morbid fascination: why would people do such idiotic things? Would you try any of the things they did? I sure as hell wouldn't!!

I heard a couple of those guys have serious mental conditions (at least one suffered from depression) and drug addictions. The things that go on behind the curtain...

Wouldn't surprise me in the least, given the crazy stuff they do! And all for what? I've heard of thrill-seeking, but this is ridiculous!

And the worst part is that so many people call this entertainment... What a sick world we live in!

Iceweaver, you're going to hate me - I love Jackass! (c'mon, you knew I would didn't you? :D) Some of the japes are really sick but most of them are amusing. Watching a grown man have bowling balls thrown at his gentleman-parts with only a sports cup to protect him appeals to my slightly sick sense of humour. The one where Johnny Knoxville visited Mianus (pronounced my-anus) and was asking people things like "how good is the food in Mianus?" and statements like "there's a big truck in Mianus" had me choking with laughter because it's much the same as I do with Uranus which is now politically-correctly pronounced "yourannus". I will spend a whole space programme tittering to myself and muttering things about the gases in "your anus" until I get sent out of the room by Steve or told off. The thing about Jackass is that they only hurt themselves, when the first series started there was nothing else like it on TV and I was hooked from there. Now they're onto their third film it isn't as original and seems a bit try-hard now. The old ones are the best.

Incidentally there's an even more extreme rip-off of Jackass done by some Welsh idiots called Dirty Sanchez - now that really is sick, even I can't watch it - they do things like stapling their testicles together or getting electric shocks up their bums. Done purely for sensationalism rather than humour which is what Jackass was originally about.

Yeah, I do hate you for that :P I just never found that kind of thing funny at all. Pity I'm in the minority.
