Some people have suggested recently that Lady Antebellum winning so many Grammy's this year - particularly for song & record of the year - was the ultimate confirmation that the ceremony is no longer relevant. What do you think? Here are some arguments I've seen put forward to get you started, which views do you share?
FOR:
For an artist, a Grammy win is a career highlight - always has been, and always should be
The Grammy awards are as prestigious as ever, and are based on artistic merit - if you want awards based on popularity, then watch the MTV awards
AGAINST:
The methodology for selecting winners is outdated and completely irrelevant, it needs to be changed
The panel generally consists of 12,000+ old aged musical snobs who vote based on critical opinions rather than personal opinions. I mean how many of the panelists actually listen to Katy Perry & Rihanna, considering their average age is probably over 40?
The Grammy's are all about politics and industry arse kissing (Chris Brown, Twitter)
They nominate the most famous musicans to get the press and widespread attention, and then award the unexpected - same old, same old. All about the money, not the music
