View Full Version : Bottled water - a rip off?

Okay, so I bought a bottle of water earlier from our local Co-Op superstore. And it cost £0.99. This isn't a lot of money, granted. But when you think that I could've got similar benefits simply by running my tap and filling a glass with ice...

Is bottled water a rip off, or am I being prudish? :P

it IS a ripoff...but they take all the yucky stuff out of bottled water that's is in tapwater..all the chlorination and stuff...so supposedly it's healthier for you...

I agree that it's a rip off.
I wouldn't buy it to bring home and keep in the fridge.Tap water will do me,as I can't taste the difference anyway.

I'd only buy it,if I was in town and was thirsty enough to drink it there and then.

It is! I dont like tap water straight from the tap! Just boil a kettle full, and cool it in the fridge!
Thats what i do anyway! :lol:

I love me a cold bottled water! But I do agree that it's a rip off.

it's just another way for shops to get money.

it's a rip off like everything else nowadays.

£1.20 for a can of coke, that's what i've seen at some places

I only drink bottled water now. But I agree it's expensive, so I just get whats on offer most of the time :)
Although I love Evian, it's sooo smooth. But I also have a Brita water filter.

Bottled water can be expensive, but I still always drink it.

I love water, tapped or bottled. :D

I don't really care if I get bottled water or tap water. however that Nestle Pure Life stuff just tastes bland.

One of my friends ONLY drinks bottled water! Waste of money in my opinion ;)

I've done a complete 180 on this and changed my perspective - I think bottled water is worth the money 8-)

Bottled water is good when you're in the car, just stop at the store and buy a bottle. You're not gonna go back home, fill a cup with tap water, and then leave again. But when you're at home, just use tap water, don't go out and buy bottled water.


So, in my opinion I'd say bottled water is not a rip-off.
