I also love Celine. I first got to know her music in 1991 on American Top 40 with Shadoe Stevens. It's funny that Tara Kemp and Cathy Dennis were the top new female artists of that year, and that over time, Celine became a huge selling superstar.

On S'est Aimé à Cause - that song is too beautiful for words. I always use that as a weapon of sorts for those that claim she can't do subtlety! The entire D'elles album is underrated! And :o @ you also liking Surprise Surprise! I love the lyrics to that song!

D'elles is my fav album by her.. ever! Yes, SISDA and D'eux are there as well but something about D'elles attracts me to it :)
Everyone knows she cares almost nothing when it comes to her english songs but I loved it how Kara made her go deep into the lyrics, make her voice sound dark in certain parts and give a great delivery. Besides, the lyrics are very true to most of us ;)

I signed up but never posted! :( I've never been a fan of fan forums, as I used to think they were too indulgent, and I can't be doing with fans that think of their favourite artists as faultless (I acknowledge that Celine does have a few faults, albeit extremely minor! :P). I posted @ CelineDionForum once or twice, and got into an argument straight away (it was about Celine miming on her An Audience With...show in the UK). After that, I just never posted again.
Yes, D'elles is very underrated. It's concept is very attractive too (so many different French authors all contributing to it). A Cause is brilliant on that album - I love hearing that. I also love Immensite and La Diva too

I love how the mainstream media now regards her as a legend (and deservedly so). For e.g. everytime an act starts a residency at Vegas, its always, "____ follows in the footsteps of Celine Dion and Elvis Presley..." :D
"Eighties pop star Matt Goss is following in the footsteps of the likes of Celine Dion and Elvis by staging his own residency in Las Vegas."

I`ve only been active on this forum since the spotlight: Celine vs Mariah was created... I had to defend my queen there  Celine is my favorite singer of all time, there is no artist coming close to her in my tastes :D She`s simply part of my life now, I know quite alot about her and need her voice everyday
Here in Québec she is a pride for us, being so succesful, coming from such a nowhere place, the only french little province of all america, unknown for most people  We hear her name quite often here, I`d even say every day, but still I only became a fan when she released her D'elles Album in 2008... When I heard her on the TV promoting it, when she sang Je cherche l'ombre, I fell in love completly :o and since then I`m addicted to her music
I`m glad to meet some other fans here^^ *HUUUUUUUG*

Céline Dion, other celebrities help battle dropout problem
“Our duty is to really take an interest in their schooling. Each time we encourage a youth, we’re probably creating one less dropout.”
MONTREAL - Listen up, everybody.
Quebec celebrities Normand Brathwaite, Jean Béliveau, Céline Dion and a host of others have something to say.
And it’s not just aimed at students, but parents and everyone else in Quebec society about the importance of kids staying in school.
The public service announcements began airing today in French on stations affiliated with Corus Entertainment across Quebec.
A recurring theme is: “Each time we encourage a youth, we’re probably creating one less dropout.”
“The many celebrities who agreed to lend their voice for free for this campaign insist on the importance of everyone’s involvement in encouraging youth to stick with their studies,” said Jacques Ménard, the president of BMO Financial Group, Quebec.
The campaign is being spearheaded by the high-powered working group assembled by Ménard that has proposed ways to curb Quebec’s alarming dropout rate.
One of the measures proposed by Ménard’s group in its report in March was to get Quebecers to rally around the idea of promoting education and keeping kids in schools.
Not all of the public service announcements have been recorded yet, such as those by Céline Dion and her husband, René Angélil.
The other high-profile participants in the awareness campaign include Kent Nagano, music director of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, singer Robert Charlebois and entrepreneur and pharmacist Jean Coutu.
The campaign launch comes on the eve of tomorrow’s announcement by Education Minister Michelle Courchesne about the government’s long-awaited game plan to deal with the dropout rate.

Yeah it`s trueXD Alot of teens drop school before ending here, the thing is that the minimum salary is around 11$/h, so you can work as a cashier or dish cleaner in a fast food and be paid 11$ and up, which can be temping when you`re sick of school, then they say they will go back to school in a few years but of course never do it... anyway  Nice to hear Celine is implied in another cause

Celine on her Relationship with her Mother
September 13 , 2009
When daughters become mothers and mothers become grandmothers, there's no denying that the bond between a daughter and mother grows stronger as their roles evolve from care giver to advice giver. Celine and her own mother, Thérèse are no exception to this. Happy Grandparents Day!
"My mother is my idol. She's the biggest artist I know. She can do anything: write, paint, sew, compose, imagine, organize. She can cook, woodwork, renovate a house and she also knows how to have fun. She is my confidante and my guide because she knows how to listen. We call each other all the time."

I agree, she remained natural in spite of her HUGE success.
And Wayne, I agree with you for the range too :D Also I wanna say a word about the whistle register, I am pretty sure everyone has it but there is a special but very easy tecnique to do these notes  Trust me it`s not a special ability reserved to Mariah or Regine lol
I tried to explain it to a few people but it's hard to understand for some  Instead of pushing air out of your lungs, you have to inspire and try to make the air pass by your vocal cords. A little trick: Do this typical thing people do when they are surprised, like :o by inspiring air, but make it touch the vocal cords :P It may do a very high note ;)
P.S. I`m glad Celine doesn`t whistle, I found pretty much annoying the whistlers I`ve heard lol
My favourite one from her is Taking Chances

That's a forced whistle, like when girls scream at the top of their lungs and it sounds like a whistle. It doesn't count ;) Besides, I don't think anyone can do it with your technique (I certainly can't), maybe it's just you and a few :P

How can you decide of what counts or not  A note is a note no matter how you reach it... So then your conclusion is of course that Mariah has a super talent for whistle that no one else has :P
I don't think it`s a forced whistle (with the technique I talked about), it`s actually very easy when you get how to do it plus it sounds the same so I think its the same technique... anyway :)

Why do you bring up Mariah? We're talking about Celine... :?
I've heard your whistles, and while they're certainly interesting :p, they're very unstable, weak, and just plain awful. Just because you can HIT the whistle register doesn't mean you are skilled at it or can sing well in it ;) So there is a big difference between just hitting the notes and doing them properly and skillfully. And the latter is NOT an ordinary thing at all--I have heard very few singers that can actually do it well, with ease, and sustain them.
It's the same thing with vocal range--it's impressive to be able to hit a wide variety of notes, but it means little if you sound terrible hitting them, wouldn't you agree? It's remarkable to be able to cover 4-5+ octaves in the studio and live, AND SOUND STRONG, TECHNICALLY BRILLIANT, AND WITH THE RIGHT TONE :)

Of course of course  But still there is this technique, you can't pretend current whistlers are not using it. Doesn`t mean that if I can just sound «awful» with this technique, as you say, that those people who go to the whistle register don't use it... :P
Plus I`m wondering now, Heatseeker, why the hell you Celine hater had to come here and start discussing/attacking her about her range with the obvious objective to end up saying:«nanana Mariah has a wider one, she`s the best...» Or some other shits like this :? Now you're gonna say I`m wrong, that you were just curious but please it`s too obvious  You`re trying to pull her down by bringing this aspect of her singing, maybe coz you're frustrated Celine won the spotlight over Mariah I dunno, as you're one of the biggest Mariah`s whore here, but if you wanna compare both, go back to this topic or create a new one ;) And don't you dare say you didn`t have these intentions when you came here to post :!:

 I didn't come here to compare Mariah to Celine, you're the one who keeps bringing this up :? I honestly wanted to know what Celine's vocal range was because I didn't know. Wayne had mentioned several times that her range was expanding, and I was curious to see just where she was at. Please don't throw accusations like those at me without knowing anything first, they're nothing but childish assumptions
"Doesn`t mean that if I can just sound «awful» with this technique, as you say, that those people who go to the whistle register don't use it... :P "
I acknowledge that they USE it, and I also acknowledge (and this is the IMPORTANT part), that few use it well ;)
"Plus I`m wondering now, Heatseeker, why the hell you Celine hater had to come here and start discussing/attacking her about her range with the obvious objective to end up saying:«nanana Mariah has a wider one, she`s the best...» Or some other shits like this :? "
Again, you keep bringing Mariah up, not me! I'm not a Celine hater; why would I listen to someone's music if I hated them :? You know, I'm almost certain that I like Celine more than you like Mariah.
"You`re trying to pull her down by bringing this aspect of her singing, maybe coz you're frustrated Celine won the spotlight over Mariah I dunno, as you're one of the biggest Mariah`s whore here"
No...this has NOTHING to do with that. That was AGES ago :?

What, you don't like me speaking the truth? Ok I'll lie if it'll make you happy

A special release to commemorate the 15th anniversary of D'eux, the best selling album ever in France.
Translation:
...
To date, it has reached the colossal figure of over 4,225,000 units sold.
To celebrate a little early this anniversary, Legacy France has decided to offer many Celine fans a Legacy Edition of this masterpiece of the French variety.
This edition includes:
- 1CD with original album versions + 3 Demo out personal archives of Jean Jacques Goldman (Pour que tu M'aimes encore, J'Irai où tu iras, Le Ballet) PBO + 2 versions of "Pour Que Tu M'aimes" and "Vole".
- 1 Opendisc Access to uncover unpublished photographs of the sessions "cover" and listen to an alternate version of "J'attendais" with texts (lyrics?) by JJG different version of the album.
- 1 DVD of a TV show in 1995 (Sonia Benezra Special Sunday) distributed exclusively in Quebec where Celine interprets live "Je Sais Pas", "Les Derniers seront les premiers", "J'Irai où tu iras" in duet with JJ Goldman with, and Pour que que Tu M'aimes encore. The whole interspersed with interviews of the period with Jean Jacques Goldman + 4 clips from the album: "Pour que tu m'aimes encore", "Je Sais Pas", "J'attendais" and "Les Derniers seront les premiers"
A booklet of 40 pages in a superb double digipack with:
- Two previously unpublished texts by Jean Jacques Goldman, one of 1995 to launch the album, the other he has kindly done specially for this Legacy Edition.
- The unpublished photographs of the sessions for the cover.
- A reproduction of the text manuscript of JJG Pour Que Tu M'aimes and other things ... "
This album spent 44 consecutive weeks at #1 in France. Falling Into You actually couldn't debut at #1 - why? Because Deux was in enjoying its record-shattering run. It is the only album in French music history to have surpassed 4m copies sold. With shipments, the album has without doubt passed 4.35m and with this re-release it may even surpass 4.5m sold (obviously, within a matter of years, not months). The only album even remotely close to this is Michael Jackson's Thriller which has shipped (not sold) around 3.5m copies in France. Deux is the best-selling French-language album of all-time WW. Truly a momentous record - I for one that be ordering a copy! :D

Whitney Houston Record Inspires Celine Dion
One diva’s comeback is inspiring another. After hearing Whitney Houston’s empowering ballad “I Look to You,” Celine Dion liked what she heard and placed a call into the man behind the record.
The Canadian power vocalist is looking to Tricky Stewart to contribute to her new album. “After she heard that Whitney Houston record, she definitely called,” says the super-producer, who helmed the title track off Houston’s I Look to You.
Tricky, who along with The-Dream crafted “Skies of L.A.” from Dion’s Taking Chances album, hopes to play a bigger role on her next project. “We sent ['Skies of L.A.'] over, she fell in love with it, she went crazy over it. It was the last song that went on her album, and hopefully it will be like Mariah Carey was in a sense that when we got involved with ‘Touch My Body,’ that was one of the last songs for that project,” he shares with Rap-Up.com. “Hopefully when she makes a new record we’ll be able to get heavily involved because that would be truly amazing.”
Stewart’s chance encounter with Dion happened one day in Las Vegas. “‘Skies of L.A.’ was just a song that she heard, fell in love with, and we just happened to be working at the same studio. That year we were out in Vegas and she did the show out in Vegas for all those years,” he explains. “She was in the next room working on some stuff for her record and sent someone over to see if we had anything.”
The hitmaker, whose clients include Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Britney Spears, and Ciara, says Dion is the real deal. The “Because You Loved Me” songstress prefers conventional recording methods instead of relying on technology, much like another diva. “Celine works in a really old-school, organic fashion. There’s no leaning on any technology whatsoever,” Tricky reveals. “A lot of the artists are like that now. Beyoncé’s kinda like that. She doesn’t really lean on technology. They like to work in a more traditional way.”

The latest news about Celine's DVD are that it will be released in February/March 2010. And the reason behind the delay is Productions J and not Sony. The DVD isn't ready for the November 2009 release.

Céline Dion and Kim Campbell might not be able to out-stickhandle Wayne Gretzky, but those two and a host of other Canadians living abroad could lay claim to being a more influential expatriate than No. 99.
Those three people, as well as Tony Burman, managing director of the English-language al-Jazeera news network; David Frum, a speech writer for former president George W. Bush; and Jennifer Granholm, the Canadian-born governor of Michigan, plus a slew of athletes, actors, and singers, are in the running to be named the most influential Canadian expat in the world.

"A New Day Has Come" Recognized at SOCAN Awards
November 26 , 2009
Every year, the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) holds a gala honouring the country's talents in the music industry. During the 20th annual gala, which took place in Toronto recently, Celine's song "A New Day Has Come" (http://www.celinedion.com/celinedion/english/music.cgi?album_id=16&band=1&song_id=5) was recognized as a 'SOCAN Classic' (http://www.socan.ca/jsp/en/pub/about_socan/Tor20_AnnualWinList.jsp#s14) for having been played on Canadian radio stations at least 100,000 times. Congratulations!
Celine's "My Heart Will Go On" Still #1
November 23 , 2009
To mark the 25th anniversary of the France Top 50 (http://www.chartsinfrance.net/Celine-Dion/news-68948.html) chart, fans voted for their favourite song from among 20 singles that had reached #1 since 1984. Celine's 1997 hit My Heart Will Go On" (http://www.celinedion.com/celinedion/english/music.cgi?album_id=10&band=1&song_id=11) received the most number of votes, reaching #1 on the survey. Celine also finds herself in the number four spot with her famous French-language song "Pour que tu m'aimes encore" (http://www.celinedion.com/celinedion/english/music.cgi?album_id=7&band=1&song_id=1). Congratulations!

And finally, here's Celine's advice for the day....
"Make sure you choose good friends and that those friends tell you the truth. It's very easy to say to people, 'You're beautiful and you're making the right choices,' but it's very important to choose good people to tell you the truth."
- Celine Dion, Excerpt from the book "Exactly As I Am" by Shaun Robinson.

'Eyes of the World': Part Dion concert film, part family album
Her diva side: But the mom side of Celine Dion is always present, too, as is evident in Celine: Through the Eyes of the World, which will have a limited release in theaters next spring.
Her diva side: But the mom side of Celine Dion is always present, too, as is evident in Celine: Through the Eyes of the World, which will have a limited release in theaters next spring.
TRYING FOR ANOTHER BABY
Celine Dion and husband Rene Angelil are pursuing a fourth in-vitro fertilization procedure after a recent attempt failed, the singer tells USA TODAY.
"We feel great, and we're putting lots of energy into this," says Dion. "But having said that, we are parents already. We'd love to be blessed again, but it's not like everything rises or falls on this news."
Son Rene-Charles, 8, had gotten his hopes up for a sibling when Dion announced she was pregnant last summer. When she learned the implantation didn't take, she decided to use the experience as a teaching moment.
"I told him this is all about nature, and nothing in nature is 100% just look at the weather," she says. "I also said to him, 'Look at what a fighter you were. You wanted to be in this world, and so here you are.' "
Interactive Calendar
A chart-topping diva and a globe-trotting mom both star in the new concert film Celine: Through the Eyes of the World, scheduled for limited theatrical release next spring by the Hot Ticket, Sony Pictures' alternative-content division. The trailer, which was viewed by USA TODAY, will begin showing in theaters early next year.
"I know there are some impressive numbers out there," Dion says, rattling off key stats of her 2008-2009 Taking Chances world tour, which played to 3 million people in 93 cities spanning 25 countries. "But for me, the most special parts were having my mother on the road and allowing my son (Rene-Charles) to see the world."
The documentary's many cameras followed the Canadian siren onstage and backstage across multiple continents. One moment she's belting out a song to 250,000 people in Quebec City, the next she's softly dueting with a girl in a South African township. Over here, Dion is getting mobbed by fans; over there, she's saying a prayer with her husband, Rene, inside their private jet.
And always, whether squarely in frame or just out, there's her 8-year-old son.
"Rene-Charles was already being home-schooled when we lived in Las Vegas (during Dion's five-year concert residency at Caesars Palace), so we thought, 'Let's just continue that and let him have the experience of his life,' " says Dion, now comfortably ensconced in the family's rented home in Jupiter Island, Fla., while their new residence is being built.
"He loved it. But now that we're back, I see we made the right choice. Rene-Charles has friends, loves sports, he has roots. We'd never take him away now," she says.
In that sense, Eyes of the World plays as one long Dion family vacation, African safaris and strolls through parks mixed in with grandly choreographed tunes to keep the pace lively.
This blending of biography and discography is fast becoming a post-concert tour staple, says Rory Bruer, Sony's president of worldwide distribution.
"For fans, this is a chance to both hear an artist in a theater setting with great sound, as well as take a look inside their lives," says Bruer, whose company is also behind next April's release of Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3-D. "It isn't like seeing the person live, but it does add that huge element of intimacy."
But Dion's movie won't linger. It will screen in major U.S. cities just "seven or eight times over a couple of weeks," Bruer says.
Dion, too, is moving on. Next up: a summer album and a possible return to Las Vegas, school schedules permitting.
"I can see performing in Vegas, but only when Rene-Charles has vacation," says Dion, whose big trips these days amount to the seven-minute drive to and from her son's school. "My biggest joy is seeing him have a life."
A SUMMER ALBUM :yikes:

Celine Dion, the international superstar and best-selling female artist of all time, has toured around the world and back again, and now, Sony Pictures Releasing’s special programming division, The Hot Ticket, will let audiences follow her everywhere. For a limited engagement beginning spring 2010 in wide release, Celine: Through the Eyes of the World will bring Celine Dion’s 2008-2009 Taking Chances World Tour to theaters. This special motion picture event gives Dion fans who attended the extremely popular tour – which placed Dion second only to Madonna in ticket sales in 2008 – another chance to experience the magical event, this time from a vantage point unparalleled by any ticket.
Join Celine as she travels to five continents and 25 countries, putting on show-stopping performances of some of her biggest hits. However, this world tour is different as Celine is traveling with her husband, her 8-year-old son, her mother, and her extended family. Intercutting concert performances with behind the scenes footage, audiences will get the chance to really know Celine, her family, and her co-performers as well as those fans that she meets and performs for around the world. Inspirational, moving, honest and surprisingly funny, Celine: Through the Eyes of the World captures Dion’s deft balance between the demands of an elaborate and extensive year-long worldwide tour and Dion’s top priority – caring for and enjoying time with her family.
Commenting on the announcement, Rory Bruer, president of Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures Releasing, said, “Celine Dion is a beloved performer all around the world and this spring, The Hot Ticket will offer fans a front row seat as she performs on stage her most recognized hits. Through this special film, audiences will also see Celine as they have never seen before as she travels and interacts with her family and creative collaborators while touring extraordinary and exotic locations around the globe. We believe Celine: Through the Eyes of the World offers a unique perspective on Celine, her life, and her inspiring dedication to creating a stage experience like no other.”
Celine added, "This was an amazing world tour, but there's a lot more than just concert footage on this film. I let the cameras follow me everywhere. There are a lot of ups and downs, and it's very personal...and it's definitely the most intimate journey that I've ever shared with my fans."
Having sold more than 200 million albums around the world, Celine Dion is one of the most immediately recognized, widely respected and successful performers in pop music history. During her spectacular career Celine has been honored with over 1000 awards. She is a 5 time Grammy Award winner, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Album for Falling Into You (1996); and Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "My Heart Will Go On" (1998). Her recordings have won two Academy Awards®: Best Original Song in 1992 for the title song of Beauty and the Beast (with Peabo Bryson), and Best Original Song in 1998 for "My Heart Will Go On" (From Titanic). She has earned 7 American Music Awards, 20 Juno Awards (Canada) and an astonishing 40 Felix Awards (Quebec). In 2004, Celine received the Diamond award at the World Music Awards recognizing her status as the best-selling female artist of all time. In 2007 she was honored with the Legend Award at World Music Awards in recognition of her global success and outstanding contribution to the music industry.
On her Taking Chances World Tour, which took place between February 2008 and February 2009, Dion played concerts in South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, China, South Korea, Australia, Malaysia, the UK, Belgium, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Italy, Monaco, Canada, Mexico, and 41 cities in the United States. The 5-continent, 25-country, 93-city tour – Dion’s first in nine years – was wildly successful, selling over three million tickets.
Stephane Laporte, director of the film, added, “After touring the world with Celine, I can say confidently that there is no performer anywhere like her. She is a consummate entertainer – not only was she committed to giving the fans who came to the shows the best performances she could, but she was just as committed to this film, to make it entertaining and give some insight into what it's like to be on the road for a year with one's family. This is Celine’s world and it's a wonderful experience to live in it and be a part of it.”
The Hot Ticket also recently announced plans to present Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D in movie theaters this April. Celine: Through the Eyes of the World extends the division's commitment to bringing audiences premium alternative content experiences to theaters with state of the art audio and visual capabilities. Since the division was launched in 2008, The Hot Ticket has presented motion picture presentations of Cirque du Soleil and the final performance of the Broadway production of Rent.

Jonas Brothers want Celine Dion duet
http://images.digitalspy.co.uk/09/49/160x120_musicint_jobros.jpg
US pop trio the Jonas Brothers have revealed that they want to collaborate with Celine Dion.
The family group, who have previously recorded duets with fellow Disney Channel stars Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato, picked out the French-Canadian crooner above all other female pop singers.
"She's amazing. I like her song 'A New Day Has Come' the best. That or the one from Titanic," Nick Jonas told Digital Spy.
"She's got the best voice ever," his brother Kevin added. "Working with a legend like her would be a real honour."
At 41, Dion is nearly two decades older than the most senior Jonas, but the group denied that this would lead to awkwardness in the recording studio.
"Actually, I think her presence is so incredible and so passionate that it wouldn't even matter. Her voice and her artistry would just cut through it all," Kevin said.

Ooh! These boys have got the right idea though - she does have the greatest voice in pop music history! :cheer:
This could be an interesting duet if it ever happened...I just want new music from Celine! :( Its been over 2 years since she released her last record. I hope that the rumours saying she'd release next summer are trueee!

Celine Dion Opens Up About Trying For Baby No. 2
http://www.accesshollywood.com/content/images/108/0x600/108391_nancy-odell-interviews-celine-dion-for-access-hollywood-dec-2009.jpg
ORLANDO, Fla. --
Celine Dion is hoping to have another child with her husband, Rene Angelil, the superstar singer told Access Hollywood’s Nancy O’Dell in a new interview.
Celine, who was in Orlando, Fla., taping a Christmas special at Walt Disney World, told Nancy she has been trying to conceive a second child via in-vitro fertilization with Rene.
“We are trying to have a second child and we hope to be blessed again as parents,” she said. “That would be amazing.”
When Nancy asked about reports from November claiming she had been pregnant, Celine explained things weren’t as they first seemed.
“We were [pregnant], it was positive. And yes it was, so for about four or five days later, then with the blood test, they found out that it was going down a little bit and it was not staying,” Celine explained. “So it happens you know, in life in general, people who are not on TV, and newspapers, they go through this all the time and most of the time would not even know that they were pregnant for three or four days, because it was just delayed a little bit. But maybe they were and they would never find out. Because of the treatments I have, I have blood tests a lot and so we found out I was [pregnant] and then it didn’t stay and that is why we are trying again.”
Celine, who will continue to try to get pregnant via in-vitro fertilization, said, “Actually, we are all set. We are going back to the same people, the same doctor in New York and it’s a big process. I’m sure people that go through in-vitro (fertilization) know how much it takes and it demands, but I’m good.
“I feel strong and honestly, we’re very blessed,” Celine continued. “We have a wonderful child, we’re extremely happy. It’s not like, ‘Oh my god, she’s not pregnant and she’s depressed.’ You know how it works. We are great. We hope for the best, we hope to get pregnant. If it happens, it happens.”
Celine said her son, Rene-Charles, 8, would be excited to have a new sibling and that they’ve explained to him how nature works when the pregnancy did not work out.
“When we announced to him that we were pregnant and then it didn’t work out, he said, ‘Wasn’t it supposed to be 100 percent sure,” Celine recounted. “I said it was 100 percent, but it’s nature and it didn’t work out and he was looking at me and he said, ‘Are you going to try again?’ I said, ‘ Yeah, we are going to try again.’ He knows exactly what we are doing, so he’s great.”
Celine also addressed her son’s new shorter haircut, which she said was cut because it was a rule at Rene-Charles’ new school.
“I said that there’s a rule in school that you have to cut your hair short. If you want to go to that school, you have to cut the hair. If you don’t want to cut the hair, we are going to have to change schools,” she said.
Rene-Charles, who had previously been home-schooled, told his mom that he loved his new school and so they cut his hair. But Celine admitted she kept some of her son’s hair after it was cut.
“I have this little ponytail thing that’s all baby hair, it’s all blond at the end. It’s a part of him. It’s great. Of course I keep this in a very special place,” she said.
“Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” airs Christmas Day on ABC. Celine also has a concert film due out in February 2010 with Sony Pictures called, “Celine: Through the Eyes of the World,” which brings to theaters her 2008-2009 Taking Chances World Tour.

Also, I have to mention, some of my friends from the Celine Dion Forum have been asked to appear via Skype for the taping of the Oprah show on the 3rd of Feb. I wanted to send in my email but then I realized I have an exam the next day so I didn't send. Anyways, it is so good to know that this time, Celine's real fans have been sought after to appear on the show and not some random peeps from wherever.
This one video made me smile a lot cos two people I know (Denelle from Australia and Carla from the UK) are flying today to Chicago for the taping.

Celine Dion ticket sales start an incredible buying frenzy
Tickets went on sale this morning 13 months in advance for Celine Dion’s new run of shows in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, and the response was “extremely strong.” “We are very, very, very happy with the demand. It’s definitely exceeded expectations,” an AEG/Concerts West executive monitoring sales told me from the box office.
“We are extremely pleased because ticket sales are extremely strong. Opening night basically sold out within the first few minutes. Celine and Rene (Angelil), through their team, have been kept fully informed of the high pace of sales, and they are naturally as pleased as we are. It has to be one of the, if not the biggest and longest upfront advance sales. We are talking about people making plans to be here in Las Vegas 13 to 14 months from now. It’s absolutely amazing!”
Celine begins her new three-year residency of 70 shows a year at The Colosseum on March 15, 2011. She played five consecutive years of sold-out shows at The Colosseum before starting the yearlong Taking Chances worldwide tour visiting five continents, 25 countries and playing to more than 3 million fans. It’s all been recorded in a docu-movie, Celine: Through the Eyes of the World, that gets eight screenings starting next week through to month’s end.

Apparently the news that we were going to be told is that Celine will begin rehearsing Vegas at the end of February and that she and the twins are doing very well. She finds out the sex of the twins very soon!

Contractor places lien on Celine Dion's multi-million dollar Jupiter Island home
http://www.tcpalm.com/news/2010/jul/16/contractor-places-lien-on-celine-dions-multi/
JUPITER ISLAND — A Boynton Beach contractor is seeking a little more than $28,000 yet to be paid on a bill for work on the nearly completed Jupiter Island home being built by singer Celine Dion and her husband Rene Angelil. John J. Churey Construction, Inc., has filed paperwork with the Martin County Clerk of the Court stating that Dion’s Canadian firm Renlec Management, Inc., the owner of the 5.7-acre Jupiter Island property has yet to complete payment on a $68,960 concrete pumping project.
Officials with Renlec Management and Churey Construction were not available for comment, Thursday.
The lien remains in place for a year unless legal proceedings are undertaken to foreclose on the property or Renlec moves to dismiss the claim.
The lien is the second filed in Martin County this year on the nearly completed 9,825-square-foot oceanfront home, with six bedrooms and eight full bathrooms.
On June 20, Renlec paid the $13,050 outstanding on a $252,700 bill from Hobe Sound geologist Herman Taube.
Taube consulted on a reverse osmosis system for the property that includes a 500,000-gallon pool system equipped with water slides and a “lazy river” feature to move floaters around the manmade aquatic paradise.
Taube filed his complaint in April.
The combined amount of the money sought in the two liens are far less than the taxes that Dion and Angelil will owe in the next fiscal year on the home.
The currently non-homesteaded property — purchased by Renlec for $12.5 million in 2005 — had its taxable value grow by $6.8 million in the past year, according the county Property Appraiser’s Office.
With the next price tag, taxes on the property could grow by about $100,000, on top of the $169,568 Dion on her last tax bill to the county ($58,680), school district ($72,210), Jupiter Island ($34,850) and special districts.
The pool and a 6,740-square-foot guesthouse were not included in the new taxable value as they were not considered sustainably completed at the time of the appraisal.
I've highlighted the bold part because of how enormous the costs are going to be in taxes alone!

Like Mariah, I uploaded my Celine collection to my iTunes, and arrived @ 30 albums, with over 450 songs (and 2.2gb worth of music!!!), and still with various songs to add, I actually think my iTunes collection will surpass 500 songs. And then if I add my various live performances, it will easily eclipse 600! Yay.
With regards to the two, I still believe that Mariah edges it with the better studio career (just), but if my Celine marathon continues, that opinion will probably change! ha. Either way, Mariah's live CD's/recorded live performances don't hold a candle to Celine's as far as I'm concerned. A'Olympia and Live A Paris are perhaps two of the greatest live CD's ever by any female recording artist, for the sheer vocals alone.

I completely agree. I detest that Vegas medley. Its two of her biggest hits mashed into one very average composition. Both songs sound much better as singularly performed tracks, its the least that they deserve, considering how enormous they were for her during the 90s. Both sold over a million physical copies in the USA! :D

New song by Celine Dion written exclusively for Marc Dupre (her step-son-in-law)
ENTRE DEUX MONDES
Paroles : Céline Dion, Frédérick Baron / Musique : Céline Dion
Interprète : Marc Dupré
The lyrics
Le silence est pris entre quatre murs
La douleur danse avec la solitude
On m’a volé ton sourire, on m’a pris ton cœur

BETWEEN TWO WORLDS
The first single from the new album by Marc Dupre
Written and composed by Celine Dion
Between two worlds is the first single from the new album by Marc Dupre, whose output is planned Tuesday, October 19, 2010.
Montreal, Tuesday, September 21, 2010 - A new album of Marc Dupré is always an event. But when the first single is written and composed by none other than Celine Dion, this only adds to the excitement! This is precisely the case for the title song of this new opus Marc Dupré, Between two worlds.
The rocker, performs very successfully in many radio charts, is not his first collaboration with Celine Dion. She had indeed signed the song Close to the happiness, which had reached the head of the Top 100 BDS in 2006 and appeared on the first album of Marc Dupré. Subsequently, it was the turn of Mark to offer Celine's music has enjoyed is dueon the album D'elles that came out in 2007. Between two worlds and is the result of a long and narrow collaboration between two artists.
With her usual sincerity Celine tells us more about the origins of this new song: " The theme and the melody between two worlds, says it came to me in my bathroom ... Those who know me know that c is probably part of the house that inspires me most by his intimate nature and also its excellent acoustics. This place is a haven that invites creativity. This too was born the song Near happiness. Before adding the words, I knew Between two worlds were to be interpreted by a man, and the vocal Marc seemed most appropriate. This was the right choice because I am now very impressed with the outcome and interpretation of Mark, all at once strong and extreme sensitivity. "
" When I realized how it was a good song ... I was afraid that Celine decides to give it to Bryan Adams, says Marc Dupré in a roar of laughter. Celine took me into his musical universe. It was truly a great experience! "
Between two worlds is first a love song. In these hymns, whose passion you shiver runs through the spine. The text, signed jointly by Celine Dion and Frederick Baron, is admirably served by a melody Celine mingling romance, nostalgia, grief and hope. Between two worlds strongly evokes the fusional love that can unite two people. A passion that lives and survives lasts even beyond the demise of the beloved.
Between Two Worlds was directed by Fred St-Gelais, director of the new album from Marc Dupré.

For the peeps who don't know, Celine wrote and composed a beautiful english song for Marc and Anne-Marie's (her step-daughter) wedding which then Marc re-recorded it in french and it turned out to be a beautiful collaboration between the two.

I still can't understand why she is so insecured about her writing. She is talented and she needs to be more confident about it so as to show the rest who smite her regarding her creativity.

Right before she gave birth, Celine gave a phone interview to a magazine "Châtelaine" and it can be found here (http://www.femmesdeparole.com/femmes/Celine_Dion/videos/626436767001) for a special project called Femme de Parole (http://www.femmesdeparole.com/le_projet) celebrating the magazine's 50th anniversary and also, the 50th anniversary of modern Quebec. They featured the entire special edition celebrating the life, success and progress of 50 women who hold a special meaning to Quebec, and Celine is one of them.
The translated interview (thanks to Les RedHeads):
The woman that inspired you?
This is not a difficult question to answer because the woman who inspired me is my mother, on every side. According to me she’s a saint and I admire her a lot.
The moment that changed everything?
The moment that changed everything for women is education. I listen to my mom talk about crazy stories, years ago women could not even go to school, couldn’t open a book, couldn’t be educated, everybody worked so hard physically but you did not have the right to be educated. So it’s like cutting someone’s legs. So now that people and women can now have access to education and open books, I think it was the least to do, it’s amazing that it has changed.
What have you learned?
What I learned through the years is that everything is possible. If you really want it, you can do anything. And when you’re 12 or 13 and you start asking questions… I had opinions about what I had seen in Charlemagne, in my sandy courtyard, I had not lived anything different than that. So seeing the whole world, recording studios, going to France, it was very difficult for me so what I learned is that everything is possible, yes. But that’s because I worked hard and I am still working hard. So when you want something, there are no secret how to reach it: you have to work hard.
What are you appalled by?
Many things piss me off. It is very difficult to see children suffer, useless wars, nastiness, violence. When a child is assaulted, physically or mentally, it is a scar for life, whether things change or not, that’s something they will live with for the rest of their lives. When there is violence on children it is unacceptable and just talking about it makes me angry. Making war to children is unacceptable.
What is left for women to achieve?
What can be done for women? For them to blossom even more! It doesn’t stop here, we have the choice. Now we have the chance to be educated we need to blossom for ourselves, we need to know what we want and be able to say “this is not for me, this is for me”. Before us, for example when our grandparents were here, there was no choice! They could not even say what they felt like, they couldn’t say why they were crying! But today people are open minded and now it is women’s aim to keep their heart’s eyes open.
Nowadays little girls are lucky because…
They are lucky because… well I’m not sure they are so lucky actually. I think that most little girls are missing directions. There are too many choices, it must be too difficult to follow. Today we tell them everything is possible, that girls can do anything which is a big chance if they take advantage of it. When you can choose and you point the directions for them and they are open-minded you can say “congrats”. They are usually left alone because no matter what happens, life pushes us to be very mature quickly. I hope that these girls, who have the chance to be able to choose, will use this opportunity.
What is beauty for you?
Beauty can be a lot of things… according to me beauty can be a sort of kindness, it can be read in someone’s eyes, on someone’s face, that’s for sure. According to me it’s also a child’s look. There is no mischief. There’s no war in that. When a child is playing, is happy, and says “I love you mom”, can it be more beautiful than that? It can’t be! When we go to the market and walk near a kiosque of peaches that are ready to be eaten, that’s also beautiful and it’s also good! It doesn’t stop when your heart’s eyes are open. Beauty is everywhere. Moments when I find myself beautiful are when I feel good. These moments occur when we are not on television, when we are not, according to some people, at our best. When we do not have a translucent skin, no makeup, no high heels. It’s an inside moment. And sometimes, it doesn’t happen very often, but you style your hair quickly because you don’t want to wet your hair, and you take a bath and you think “too bad I didn’t take a picture of that”. You have no makeup, nothing, but still your hair is beautiful, and it was beautiful even before you made it. But no one’s here to see it. It’s frustrating!
The interview shows a really matured side of Celine. IMO one of her best, if not the best, interview she gave in years. She wasn't kidding when she said that she has maturity on her side now :bravo:

Celine Dion Introduces Her Twin Boys To The World
(ET Canada)
Canadian-born chanteuse, Celine Dion, introduces her two-month-old twin boys Eddy and Nelson to the world in Hello! Canada this week.
The fraternal twins have already developed distinct personalities: “Nelson is Angélil, Eddy is Dion!” says Celine.
Inside their first photo album are adorable pics of the infants posed with their superstar mom, big brother René-Charles and dad Rene Angélil.
In an exclusive interview with Hello!'s editor-in-chief Alison Eastwood, Celine calls her life “extraordinary” with the addition of the twins to their family.
“I don’t know how women do it,” she says in the intimate interview. “Every day René asks, ‘Did you sleep well?’ I’m like, ‘You must be kidding! There is no sleep! ”’
We have more inside the photo shoot at the family’s expansive and exquisite tropical-themed home on Jupiter Island, Florida, on tonight's ET Canada
Thanks to CSCfan for the above!
Also, the editor of Hello Canada said that there would be 20 pages of photos and interview with Celine as focus!!! Biggest story of the year in Canada!!! :D

But even though I love René, I still think she needs a new manager! This man is living on another planet...
Here's a (new) example:

I wholeheartedly agree; I know it sounds morbid, but eventually, he's going to have to take a backseat, due to his age, and his continued illnesses (he always seems to have something wrong with him!), and when that day comes, I shall write a letter of thanks to God. May Rene live a long, happy life, but Celine needs some new direction - continue with the balladry yes, just inject a bit of modernity into your work girl! I can't profess enough how much I'd love a Celine/Guetta dance collaboration - it would blow my socks off (something along the lines of When Love Takes Over or potentially, One Love). Or a collaboration with current hip kid, Bruno Mars.
IMO, A New Day Has Come was brilliant (5 * excellence), One Heart was okay (3 * goodness), Taking Chances was very good (3.5 * greatness) - therefore, I'd like something on the new album that resonates closest with A New Day Has Come, which is IMO, her career highlight. A truly superb POP album - no fluff, just good, solid pop music. I'd love a foreign song on her new English record too - something Spanish or Italian. I love those languages! Please NOT another Miracle.

Did you know that when they decided to return to Las Vegas Vegas again, they only wanted to do the same show as the Taking chances world tour, then they decided that it would be better to pay tribute to Hollywood instead but they didn't want the show to be boring and they changed the theme of the show again... :smash:

Ab, I read about that, but wasn't sure if they were true or not. At the rate they are changing the 'themes', I think we're gonna end up having AND part deux. Rene celebrated his 6th b'day yesterday, won't it be the best gift if he completely retired from being her manager? :cheer:
Wayne, that makes her more of a has-been. Love her, but hate her going back to Vegas.
Right now I'm listening to this and still cringe that this song wasn't released as a single back in '03 :(

I adooooore this song!
I'm tired of Celine's fan saying that the reason why her songs are not played on the radio anymore is because she's an "old singer" and that's what will happen to Rihanna, Lady gaga... too in the 10, 15, 20... next years. It's not true! What about Mylene, Kylie, Madonna...? And they also often forget that Beyoncé, who is still on top, isn't a new singer (she started her career in 1997)

I don't think it makes her a has been; if all she did was residencies, then that could make her a has been. But there is no 40 year old+ woman with the record sales consistency of Celine from this decade, with the exception of Madonna.
Vegas V2 could destroy any chance of regaining her lost glory though, so she needs to be careful

@Ab, the reason why Mylene is successful in France is cos she knows what she is doing, and has total control over her career which the same cannot be said for Celine :(
@Wayne, that was just a sarcastic remark :tehe: Even after years of being locked up in Vegas, she sold quite decently with TCh. I just hope that she doesn't disappear into oblivion with her new show (and her huge family) if she still wants to be 'something' in the music biz, which I honestly think she does very much even though she may say otherwise.

So here are her sales for the decade, new releases:
A New Day Has Come - 9m
One Heart - 4.5m
Miracle - 2m
Taking Chances - 3.5m
1 Filles Et 4 Types - 1.4m
D'elles - 0.75m
What do you think is her best album of the decade
Which album direction will give her the recipe for success, this time around?
Would you rather she wrote/co-wrote the material, and did less promotion? Or would you rather she promoted more, and wrote songs that were written especially for her?
Who do you want to see her work with?
djdiva
01-18-2011, 06:49 PM
1. My personal fav is D'elles. Yes, it has tons of mistakes and is quite a deterrent to many of her Francophone fans, but WTH, me loves it!
2. Everything that she did (except for Miracle) had recipes for success. It was just the wrong choice of singles, bad promo work from her team that enables non-fans to associate her still with the sinking ship.
3. Celine's not a songwriter, and we, as fans should recognise that. Yes, one or two songs of her own would be amazing. Her own version of 'Entre Deux Mondes' is what I'm dying to listen to, but I'd rather she collaborate with some nice writers, and promoted with the correct singles.
4. In the Anglophone world, duets with some established artists like Beyonce, Robbie Williams, Delta Goodrem would spurt sales in the countries these artists are absolutely a phenomenon. For the French market, she's good all by herself, but it wouldn't hurt her image if she collaborated with Patricia Kaas, Mylene Farmer or some young male French artist and not some dinosaur.

1. It's hard to choose I love all her english albums (my favourites are A New Day Has Come, One Heart and Taking Chances but there are many good songs in Miracle too even though I don't considerer it as a "serious album" lol)! As for the french albums, 1 fille & 4 types is a very good album, I love how the videos match with the atmosphere/the theme of the album. However, I can't stand "D'elles". Many english fans consider it as a masterpiece but for french fans like me, it's one of her worst. I think the main idea was great but the final result was disappointing! Céline is very old-fashioned in her french music... =/ She also needs to learn how to pronounce some words, she sounds like she has a "hot potato" in her mouth when she sings in french, it's weird! She definitely needs a "Kara" when recording her french songs, I think it would be better for her (and for us)
2. See DJdiva's answer :)
3. I don't know about other countries, but here, singers who don't write their songs are often criticized. Céline is one of those but she can prove everybody wrong and show them that she's not only a "simple voice". She is also very intelligent musically wise, she can wrote and compose beautiful songs as well! All her french fans think that it would be great if she could work with Marc Dupré again, they always do amazing things together.
4. I'm sad that the Eyes on me remix was not released! I am sorry to sound pessimistic but I mean... who wants to sing with her (in studio) nowadays? =( Beyoncé probably thinks she's too cool for her. They should try with Leona Lewis, she's very talented and she loves Céline so...
As for the french duets, I agree: young French artists, not dinosaurs for heaven's sake!

CELINEEEEEE!
IMO, A New Day Has Come is Celine's best all-round album of the decade, it is as close to perfection as she herself has come. Its a perfect pop album and one of the greatest pure pop albums of all-time as far as I'm concerned. Everything was so right about this era - the promotion, the sales (for the time period, they were fantastic!), the image, and even the singles! Just absolutely superb time to be a fan of the Queen
Something that combines elements of her three big records this decade - A New Day Has Come, One Heart & Taking Chances. I'd love the image of A New Day Has Come, the voice of One Heart, and the material of all three, as I think all three have some outstanding material (the latter two have a fair bit of stodge too). Something along the lines of One Heart would probably give her a semi successful single as that sound dominates the chart nowadays, whereas something along the lines of A New Day Has Come would give her a semi successful album, and the best chance at a "comeback". I'd love her to release something ala Sorry For Love!
I really don't give two sh!ts about her writing or co-wriitng. Okay, I'll admit that if she wrote some of her material, she'd be more widely acclaimed. But does that really matter? As long as she chooses the BEST material to record, I'm happy. And she MUST promote nowadays anyway, to a) keep her dwindling fanbase b) accumulate new fans
I'd like Diane Warren to write some songs for her, David Foster do some production, and then feature some young, hip, hot collaborators! I'd ADORE on so many levels a duet with Bruno Mars! <3 I'd also love to see her do some studio work with Alicia Keys, and a dance number (ala Sorry For Love) to feature David Guetta! <3
FABULOUS!

"banned" site? lol All the websites are banned from that forum anyway... :ballchain:
come back were? CDF? I don't know, I'm not interested in that forum anymore. :( I kept in touch with people I really love (like you) and that's all... Did you know that someone wants to leave that forum because people think he talks too much about "the playback issue and the vocal stuff" =( That broke my heart! he was my favorite poster. Why go back there if my favorite posters don't post anymore? :(
I'm on another forum now, with the RH! Believe it or not, unlike most people in CDF think, they are the most adorable people ever =D Very passionate and hard workers... Please, don't hate me for this but now I think Bellamy is the one who is not saying the truth, they didn't decide to leave the forum, they were all banned (their account Has Been Suspended until Dec 10 2037, 01:47 AM. lol) and many french members (who are not RH) were banned as well, just because they defended them! =/ We are all on a "new" forum now and what I love the most is that people in that forum are very open-minded, of course sometimes we fight but it's nothing, we're like a family and I don't think it's fair to come back to CDF, after all the things that happened, I'm happy with my new life =D Like I said, as long as I can keep in touch with people I love, why go back there? To fight against delusional people who think that being a fan means being the best at finding her excuses? ^^'

I find myself trying to introduce this rare track to people for what seems like an eternity! Why? Because its one of many performances which IMO cements her as the greatest singer of all-time. Filled to the brim with passion, she sings at the very limit of her voice, exponentionally gliding through the octaves, a soft whisper here to a glass shattering high note there. Celine is my musical affair, love her! <3

2. CELINE DION “MY HEART WILL GO ON”
http://98fm.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/files/2011/02/220px-MHWGOcd2.jpg
This song was the theme from the blockbuster movie “Titanic” in 1997. Written by James Horner and Will Jennings, this hit went straight to number one globally when recorded by world renound artist Celine Dion. This went on to become Dion’s biggest hit and one of the best selling singles of all time.

I swear I will abandon this woman if she utters 'my 13 brothers and sisters' once more. I've had enough of this crap with her not giving two fcuking shit about her music, but instead is bothered about titanic sized family. Sure, I wish her all the best with her new twins and all, but if that's all she wants, then for Mariah Carey's sake, just go swim in your Florida resort. Don't be as if you are so interested in giving new music and doing wonderful Vegas shows, Celine. It's really getting boring and frustrating.
