WHATTHEACTUALHELL @ all of those festive drinks! wow!

I have to say that Christmas is my favourite time of year; normally, I'd spend it at home with my family, going through the same routine every year, of pretending to be asleep, so that my sisters can "wake me up" and we'd all go downstairs and open our presents (I wouldn't have ever changed this for the world though, its special!). Then we'd all sit in the kitchen, waiting for the family to do their rounds, whilst mum was cooking. Before my Grandma and Grandad died, we used to have family parties. But ever since their passing (within literal months of each other), my family don't seem to want to celebrate it anymore. This year, I've decided that currently, I am going to stay in Nottingham with some of my best friends, and see in Christmas with them. The only thing that upsets me is knowing that I won't see mother! But I suppose she could always drive down here! :D Shall definitely have to see!!!!!

Either way, the run upto Christmas is precious. Love it!

We've been considering Christmas decorations for work, but thats about all I've done so far (oh and listened to the usual Christmas tunes!). I can't wait to deck my home out in Christmas decs though - it'll be the first time I'll have decorated my own place out (as I've always gone back to my Mum's home for Christmas, not this year though).

Christmas is gonna be pretty ordinary for me. I think it'll be one of the worse because it's the fourth last day before my best friend moves :(

Now I agree that Christmas is here. The decorations are (mostly) done, cards are written, presents have all been purchased (even though some may not be delivered) and I have a supermarket plan for Wednesday or Thursday evening.

What are you hoping to get, Liam? I trust you plan on doing as much giving as receiving? ;)

My family semi-decided to do Kris Kindle this year. I was alright with this, something different anyway as we've always got everyone a gift. So last week I asked when will we pick the names, and mam said that we're not doing Kris Kindle.

I'd be fine with it, if it hadn't snowed all day yesterday and now we're snowed in. I have absolutely nothing done lol

Today is what we call "Lille Julafta" translated as "Little christmas eve"

So today EVERYTHING have to be ready for tomorrow.. cleaning, decorating, gift shopping.. because tomorrow we are eating christmas dinner at 18 and then opening presants after that :)

In Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland the name of christmas have nothing with christ to do.. the word "Yol" comes from the Vikings when they celebrated that the sun turnes and days get lighter and lighter on the 21st. So to make us celebrate christmas they called it after a day we already celebrated :P

Jerick

How many gifts do you people usally get.. when I watch American, british movies and so on it looks like you don't get that many presants.. and everyone opens at the same time :S :P

In Norway we start around 8 PM, and everyone opens one presant at the time.. I've counted 14 presants for me this year :P

These days my family doesn't exchange gifts anymore, we rather donate money to charity, so there are no presents under the tree for me (in fact, there isn't even a tree lol!) But I have bought a small slab of chocolate each for my mom and dad hehe.

^ That's a bit depressing lol, but great that you're helping out those who could really use a better Christmas :)

I have no idea what to expect for me this time. I'll be fine with some cash and a few nice clothes really.

When I was younger, I'd receive that many presents that I'd be there for about 40 minutes opening them all. They weren't all over expensive presents (as I come from a poor family) - most were small but thoughtful presents - and I'd usually get the one big one, about an hour later, when I walked into my room, and found it on my floor. Each year, I never knew whether I'd have that "one big pressie", but I usually did! :P

This year, I have 10 presents to open from my parents, which is pretty darn good, and they are also giving me £100 cash, which I think is beautiful of them! <3 I'm spending Christmas away from them, for the first time ever, so that should prove an emotional time. But I'll be with good friends.
