What you wanted to see Diego?
Well I admit that I was disappointed with the projection, because there was SO much buzz about this album all over the Internet and everyone was saying how much they were loving it, added to the fact that she has two big singles out atm. However, as people pointed out, pure pop albums don't usually have a big first week, and I just think of her last album, which opened at 47K and went on to sell almost 1.3m. As long as the hits keep coming, the album should have long legs, and with the holiday season I can see this going into 1.5m territory. And hey, at least she'll have a #1 album!
Now then, let's hit that 200K Perry!

I agree. Pure pop albums don't normally shift such big numbers, I definitely think that star collaborations with non-pop artists such as on California Girls will help her shift huge numbers with this LP! I hope that she manages to get at least the 200k numbers HDD think she will!

Disagree with this point. CG was more of a novelty song, similar to IKAG, not the type of hit that makes people want to buy albums. Also, she didn't do any other collabo's on this album, sadly.

Well if it wasn't that song, and its live performances that has sold the album, then what would you say has sold the album?

It's a combination of things. Sure, it was a huge hit and got people interested in Katy again, but part of the reason the album is selling is the follow-up single, Teenage Dream. That sounds more like something people would take seriously and want to buy an album for. Also, she's had an impeccable image this era, looking f*cking amazing, and you know how people are about looks.
Just take a look at her hit IKAG in 2008 - spent 7 weeks @#1 yet the album only made it to #9 on the BB200.

Yet ironically has sold more to date than what this album potentially will do. I am intrigued to see how this will sell in weeks 2, 3 & 4.
A positive start of 106k. WOW @ Fantasia though. I hope one of them surpasses the magic 200k mark!
Attempting suicide was the smartest career move of her life! I've heard that the album is actually quite good, but I haven't got round to listening to it yet.
LOVING Katy's album, so I hope it can have a successful shelf life. Any of the songs could be a single IMO...

Yes it ended up doing well because the hits kept coming, but if IKAG had been the only hit single it would've sold half what it did. I think the same will happen for this album.

If typical Billboard-HDD finishes are anything to go by, Perry will do about 185k. Which isn't a bad result I suppose

^ I'm hoping the SS sales will be a little higher, at least not less than 190K.
