Mariah's cover of "I Still Believe" was better than Brenda K. Starr's original, and I believe more successful.

I like Feist - Inside And Out better than the Bee Gees version, and yes, I have heard the original first.

Miley Cyrus - Four Walls I like better than Cheyenne Kimball's version.

I like Supergirl - Suzie McNeil better than Saving Jane's version

One of my fave covers ever is Jump by Girls Aloud. They made the song do much more dancey and fun. I love it <3 8-)

when the cover is made good, then why not ...

sometimes I like Ne-Yo doing a "perfomance covers" of the songs he wrote for another artists ...
I canīt wait to hear I Can Feel You (Anastacia) ... but I really wanna hear his version of Canīt B Good (Janet)

To the list of awesome covers, I'd like to add You Got The Love (Florence and the Machine) and most recently, Your Song (Ellie Goulding). The latter is astonishingly beautiful!

The way it usually happens is, I prefer whichever I heard and liked first. For instance, most people would think Journey's Open Arms is better than Mariah's cover, but because I heard Mimi's first and fell in love with it first I prefer it to the original.

One of the best cover albums I've ever heard is Declan Galbraith's Thank You, especially what he did to the songs Bright Eyes and An Angel. Wow.

Whitney's version of Greatest Love Of All surpasses George Bensons.

and I love Brandy's version of "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)" much more than Bryan Adams

Also Deborah Cox "Something Happened on The Way To Heaven" poo's all over Phil Collins version

In general female vocals sound better on big ballads, more range

You won't hear me say this often - so take it why you can; but Celine Dion's take on Fever is one of the worst covers in music history. Just she shouldn't tackle such songs - especially not with her VEGAS VOICE - she would have done it justice in 2002, after he comeback, when her voice was much softer but retained its power when needed.
