Louis Walsh has reportedly teased Cheryl Cole about her singing abilities at this week's 'X Factor' auditions.
After watching one contestant perform an off-key version of Cheryl's hit ‘Fight for This Love’, Louis quipped: "That was about as good as you can do it live."
Fellow judge Simon Cowell is said to have sniggered at the remark while Cheryl sat looking furious, reports The Sun.
A show insider told the paper: "Their nasty comments really hit a nerve with her. She's never been fully confident about her singing ability, especially since launching her solo career and not having the other girls on stage.
"To be humiliated in front of thousands of people by Simon and Louis was really a step too far."
Earlier, Simon had told an all-female group that they shouldn't take inspiration from Girls Aloud and added: "I bet you only like American groups, like Destiny's Child."
Meanwhile, there was more drama at this week's auditions after the judges were booed for turning up two hours late.
The late arrival meant that the audience and show hopefuls were left standing in the sun for several hours, while they waited for the auditions to begin.
As a result, the judges reportedly got a hostile reaction from the crowd when they finally arrived by helicopter. However, Simon Cowell has denied claims that he retaliated with a rude gesture.

According to CherylColeUK Twitter (which isn't her official one by any means):
Looks like X Factor could be starting later than usual this year, may have the auditions split across the weekends like the live shows

The long wait for The X Factor to return is finally over, with this year’s series just a couple of hours away – and what a show it’s set to be!
This time round, Dannii Minogue’s spot on the judging seat will be filled by no less than five guest judges in the shape of Nicole Scherzinger, Katy Perry, Geri Halliwell, Pixie Lott and Natalie Imbruglia.
The new recruits – who stood in for new mum Dannii while she took some maternity leave off – are sure to shake things up a bit, and make The X Factor must-see TV.
Of course, Cheryl had to also take some time off during her battle with malaria – and we’ll get the chance to see how the boys, aka Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell, did without her, with just the lovely Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger as female company. We’re sure it wasn’t too bad…
The first audition show will burst onto screens at 7.30pm tonight – but what can you hope to see this year?
Well, first up house-husband Stephen Hunter takes centre-stage to try his luck with the judges, singing a soulful rendition of The Trammps' Seventies hit Disco Inferno.
And despite missing his cue, Stephen – who promises to give the competition “everything” – impresses the judges. But will it be enough to get him through to Boot Camp? Look out for Geri and Cheryl pulling some groovy moves to this one.
Gamu Nhengu also tries her luck at the auditions. The 18-year-old student, who left her native Zimbabwe for Scotland five years ago, performs a rousing version of Katrina and the Waves' Walking On Sunshine – and even manages to win over Mr Nasty, Simon Cowell. Looks like she might be one to keep an eye on.
Other Scots hopefuls getting the nod are Lynne O’Neil, a 23-year-old waitress from Cumbernauld, who sings True Colours. The waitress has been banned from singing in the restaurant she works in though, which doesn’t bode well for her chance of success on The X Factor…
And duo G&S, aka Gay & Straight, also try their luck with Journey’s hit Don’t Stop Believing. The pair miss more than a couple of notes – but can they pull it back to land themselves a spot in the next round? Splitting from your singing buddy can be a hard decision but could it be the right one for one half of G&S?
Hopefuls from across the country include Shirlena Johnson, a 30-year-old woman from east London who dons leopard-print leggings to sing Duffy’s classic hit, Mercy. You're going to love this performance!
Also keep an eye out for Jahm, a threesome who perform Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, and Katie who is a female Freddie Mercury wannabe.
The X Factor returns tonight at 7.30pm for its seventh series. Don’t miss it!

Its back tonight! I'm @ work, so can't watch it, but shall catch up with it tomorrow! :D Eeeeee!
It was so much better with the guest judges. Sort of missed Dannii, but not that much.
Lol @ G&S. Even more so they used auto-tune or something on her, which is just ridiculous. And I'm glad the tabloids have picked up on it. It's so misleading to alter the contestants voices, especially at the audition stage!
From the first show only Gamu is standing out, and the lady who sang 'Creep' on Xtra Factor, I like her :)
Someone I know is in the previews for next week (Wayne, you might know him as well) so that will be interesting to see! AND OMG NATALIE IMBRUGLIA is looking old. I love her so much but she has the whole 'just had botox sheen' on her face and it's not good.

Wayne who?
Fans had claimed after the opening show that “autotuning” had been used to improve some contestants’ voices.
It is used in recording studios to improve performances by correcting pitch and disguising off-key mistakes.
An X Factor spokesman said post-production work was necessary on the show due to the number of microphones used during filming.
“The judges make their decisions at the auditions stage based on what they hear on the day, live in the arena,” the spokesman added.
“The footage and sound is then edited and dubbed into a finished programme, to deliver the most entertaining experience possible for viewers.
“When it gets to the live shows, it will be all live.”
Fans took to The X Factor’s internet forums after the show to voice their concerns.
The focus of the debate surrounded 18-year-old contestant Gamu Nhengu, who sang Katrina and the Waves’ hit Walking On Sunshine.
After hearing her effort, judge Simon Cowell told her she was “really talented” before she was unanimously voted through to the next round.
But viewer Smstrat91 said: “Cannot believe they autotuned her, listen to the words ‘door’ and ‘telephone’ and it’s very clear. She’s so good as well, but obviously the producers of X Factor didn’t think she was good enough.”
The first episode of this year’s series was watched by 11.1 million people, up from last year’s figure of 9.9 million.
BBC (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-11056050)
What a machine this show has turned into, 11.1m viewers is out of this world. I wonder if it will reach the magic 20m, Britains Got Talent came this close to reaching that with its finale!

Incidentally, I watched the X Factor back on Sunday morning, and I thought Gamu was brilliant. I think that she'll progress very far (probably top 12) - I love what she did with the song, sort of like what Winehouse did with Valerie! :D

I loved Mary this past week! <3
Incidentally, the newest rumour circulating is that Dannii has the boys and Simon has the groups, again!
None of the contestants from the second show impressed me.
To quote someone from another forum:
So when the live shows start we have performances from:
Week 1: Joe
Wk2: Cheryl
And Radio1 'confirmed' Rihanna, Dannii Minogue, Leona Lewis and someone else but I forget their name!

LOL @ the episode, loved it! :D
Anyway, some intriguing stuff for you non-chart analysis posters, as per Music Week:
The 10th number one in as many weeks, Murs’ Please Don’t Let Me Go, which he penned with American writers Steve Robson and Claude Kelly, makes a strong first impression, selling 93,239 copies. It is the 17th number one thus far by a graduate, or a collection of finalists, from the ITV show, X Factor.
Previous X Factor number ones have come from Leona Lewis (three) JLS (three), Alexandra Burke (two), Steve Brookstein, Shayne Ward, Chico, Leon Jackson, Joe McElderry, Diana Vickers (one each) and The X Factor Finalists 2008 and 2009 – with Murs being a member of the latter act. The flipside of Murs’ single, This One’s For The Girls, earned enough stand-alone digital sales (2,844) to debut at number 69.

Its just mindboggling how successful the show has been in the UK, and unlike American Idol, the winners and high profile protege just do not seem to waiver, all seemingly guaranteed to score a hit single and/or album

According to Amanda Holden, Britains Got Talent will take X Factor's place next year, so that Simon can concentrate on the US version of the hit show.
This would mean that for the first time in years, there won't be an X Factor song battling it out for the Christmas #1!
I've been reading that rumour a lot these past few days, and I think it would be a great move.
Artists don't even try and release a serious contender for Christmas number 1 anymore, so I hope this will all change next year.
My favourite Xmas #1... Spice Girls - Goodbye <3

Aiden sang one of my favourite songs of all-time last night, and did it so, so, so much justice! I <3 him so much, definitely my favourite male contestant this year. Mary, despite that one little glitch, was great as per. I had my first proper teary moment of the series when Cher came on. I felt really sorry for her. However, I think the seemingly geninue and raw emotion she displayed will help, more than hinder her.
By far my favourite of the night however was Treyc Cohen. IF the spolier we posted sometime back was indeed fake, then I'd be happy, lets just say that, as I love Treyc, and she deserves so much to progress. She sang Ave Maria with so much conviction and sounded incredible

X Factor choreographer Brian Friedman has insisted that Gamu Nhengu's exit from the reality show was totally down to Cheryl Cole.
Friedman dismissed claims that Cole was persuaded by producers or Simon Cowell to ditch Nhengu and said that the Zimbabwe singer's visa issues were not relevant in the final decision about whether she reached the live shows.
Speaking to the Daily Star, the artistic director said: "I spoke to Cheryl the night she did her judges' homes and asked her about who she chose and why she chose them.
"And I said the same thing, 'I love Gamu, how come Gamu didn't make it?' and she gave exactly the same reasons she gave on the show. All of the different pros and cons and I back Cheryl on those decisions."
He also argued that it was time to draw a line under the controversy surrounding Nhengu's departure. "I haven't spoken to her since all the drama," he said. "Right now all the focus needs to be on the acts she did put through, as they have to perform this weekend."
It's weird, for me Gamu had the most memorable audition.
HOWEVER - the clips it showed of her audition on later shows (IE, non-autotuned) she really didn't sound very good at all. Yes her performances after that were good, but I preferred others. Actually would have preferred TreyC to go through, we shall see...
LMAO has anyone seen the video online at The Sun of Anastacia basically ranting on about not getting through and how Cher was never in her hotel and didn't wear a coat? Or some shit like that. Bitch has no class, trying to milk her 15 minutes for all she can and coming off really bitter in the process.

Cher Lloyd - She has a vocal ability just a bit better than Katie Price, but with her its undoubtedly all about the performance. Bloody brilliant!
Treyc Cohen - First of all, she looked outrageously hot! Somebody @ UKMIX wrote "J-Lo could never" and they were right  IF this really is about singing, she should sail through based on this performance. THE vocal of the night.
Aiden Grimshaw - The winner of the show as far as I'm concerned. THE performance of the night - just mindblowingly brilliant. This man is, as Dannii said, "arresting" and Cheryl put it best by saying that he's already at "popstar level"
Mary Byrne - LOL, she looked like something out of Twilight or a halloween movie! It was absolutely bloody fantastic! I just craved a bigger ending that she gave us. Still, she should sail through.
Shall watch the rest later, for now I'm very impressed with the standard - not sure I want to spoil it with the other performances, considering some of the feedback I've read across the web :P
Overall, on the night, from what I've seen:
1. Aiden

2. Treyc
-----------
3. Mary
-----------
4. Cher
-----------
Very good top 4!

The right act went in my opinion; also, was Joe miming? :o
I'm actually happy Katie stayed. She's still really hard to like, but I think there's definitely something about her... and I think she did a great survival performance.
I haven't liked anything Cher's done since her first audition... I understand rap is a vocal style, but 1) I don't think she's *that* good at it, and 2) I would love to hear her just sing.
Joe defo sang live but I could barely hear him during the chorus. Nice performance though, it's giving him the much needed boost on iTunes!

I think I'm literally obsessed with Matt. His voice is.... phenomenal. I don't usually like male singers, of any kind, but there is definitely something very special about him!
Delighted with his performance the other night! I was a bit scared, I really didn't know if he could pull it off or not but it turned out to be my favourite X Factor performance ever (after Leona's 'Run', but that doesn't really count).
Easily my favourite year so far! I've never been so addicted to it :D

That's good.
I'd say those who are in danger are John, Wagner, Paige and possibly Katie and Belle Amie.
This week's theme is Musical Heroes.
Mary is singing You Don't Have To Say You Love Me - Dusty Springfield.
Apparently Storm is performing Purple Rain this week
Wayne
10-17-2010, 10:33 AM
The standard this year is SO much better than it was last year - its brilliant this year!! This week's show was twice as good as the first show, fantastic! I must say that I love themes like this, that don't focus on one artist or genre - it allows for such diversity of song choice, and true artistry and vocals really do shine through. I'd love to be an X Factor producer, just so that I could observe the votes - at least half of the contestants could win this, based on talent. For once, the groups are really holding their own, and the girls and boys are as strong as ever. Mary carries a weak over 28's category very well - its all to play for, and anybody could win at this stage.
The performances
Storm Lee (Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run): hmm, not sure that i liked his version to be honest. He has good vocals, like Dannii said. However, Cheryl was also right in my opinion saying that he needs to lose his craziness, and just sing - something that he himself whined about not being judged on, one week earlier. A good test for him would be a soft rock ballad such as With Or Without You (U2) or something more rocky such as Who Wants To Live Forever (Queen). 5/10
Treyc Cohen (Prince - Purple Rain): seriously BRILLIANT. Perhaps my favourite performance in X Factor history. World class - I think she might actually rival Leona Lewis in a few weeks time, as the best vocalist in the competition's history, should she stay in (would be a crime if she was eliminated after this performance). Looked and sounded incredible, again. 10/10
Paije Richardson (Alicia Keys - If I Ain't Got You): I've never liked him, and think there were more much better in his category, at judges house. He was given one of the decade's finest songs, and he did okay with it, sounding good on the chorus, but rubbish on the stanzas. Reminds me a lot (voice wise) of Ruben Studdard from American Idol some years ago. By the way, I love feisty Dannii, standing up to Simon! 6/10
One Direction (Kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You): the oddest song choice! But I do really like the band, and I think they did their best with (as Louis said) what was a bad song choice in my opinion. They sound very good and look great together, that's for sure. 7/10
Cher Lloyd (Jay Z/Annie mash up): like Dannii, I wasn't totally sold on the performance. Simon confirmed for me what I'd feared - this is no longer a singing competition, its all about finding somebody different, despite how bad they might be at singing. Cher is a really average - no not average, but an almost bad singer, yet she's a great performer. So she'll go far based on that. I hate, hate, hate her attitude, and over-confidence though, like her "peace-out" gesture. I guess some people get her, and some people don't. Good performance with good rapping, bad singing. 5.5/10
John Adeleye (Donnie Hathaway - A Song For You): one of my favourite songs of all-time, and I thought John was completely bland singing it, with no life. It was good vocals, but I didn't really enjoy his performance, probably because I didn't watch it, just listened to it in the background. The judges seemed to like it, I wasn't overly fond of it. 6.5/10
Diva Fever (Boney M /Duck Sauce - Barbra Streisand/Judy Garland/Diva Fever/Louis Walsh): "no, that is Ms Friedman" - I actually 'lolled'. I loved this, bloody brilliant! I think that like Simon said, this will be #1. Only a couple of hours left to download it though. Anyway, back to the performance - Dannii is such a hag, its why I love her! Diva Fever inject fun into the show, I shouldn't really praise them, given my crticisms of Cher Lloyd, but I just can't help it - they put such a smile on my face, and I suppose that's what it all comes down to! Lol. 2/10 for the vocals, as they sang literally nothing, minus a couple of "umms", but 8/10 for performance. So overall...5/10
Rebecca Ferguson (Nina Simone - Feeling Good): urgh, what crap! I really didn't like this. Feeling Good needs to be belted out in my opinion, and she doesn't have the voice! Boring. 4/10
Aiden Grimshaw (John Lennon - Jealous Guy): everything about him captivates me - his look, his voice, his (over)confidence and his stylistics. He was given one of my favourite ever songs (and John's best in my opinion), and he did good, but not great. I actually do adore him and his voice - he's such a readymade popstar, and he has absolutely everything, so I hope he survives the week intact. Song was to big for him tonight. 7/10
Katie Waissel (?? - ??): surprise of the night for me! I really didn't think I could enjoy anything she did, as I disliked her audition so much. But then she won me round at bootcamp, lost me at judges house, did terrible in her first X Factor performance, then won me back with her survival performance. And tonight, she was captivating, delivering a brilliant vocal, with so much conviction - she really does seem to want this badly, and I adored her perfomance tonight. I just hope that she retains this style of singing for the time being, until she's restored faith and interest in her, and then blows us all away - basically, play it safe for the next week at least, and then let her take a risk, if she must. Great night for Katie. 9/10
Wagner (Tom Jones - Help Yourself): he performed one of Tom Jones' classics, which I applaud him for - Tom is one of the best male artists of all-time, not given nearly enough credit. But Wagner is SUCH a joke as far as I'm concerned. Its even worse than having Jedward in last year. 2/10
Belle Amie (The Kinks - You Really Got Me): miles better than last week, still don't think they're up to the standard of winners though, but they will surely get better with each week. They have such good harmonies!! LOL @ Simon's "girl power" comment. Agree with Dannii that the styling wasn't quite right tonight. 7/10
Mary Byrne (Dusty Springfield - You Don't Have To Say You Love Me): I never thought in a million years that this could work, without sounding like cabaret. But she deserved every second of that standing ovation - had Treyc not chose and blown Purple Rain out of the park, Mary would've once again stole the show. Just a phenomenal performance - flawless even. Brilliant Mary!! 10/10
Matt Cardle (Bruno Mars - Just The Way You Are): his VT builds up his performance so, so well - "Matt is going to try and hit a really high note, a high C"...genius song choice, as Simon said - one of 2010's best songs as a matter of fact. It was my second "OHMYGOD" moment of the show - he was so amazing. Really world class performance. Can't fault the man; pains me to say it, but he might just leave Aiden in the dust. 10/10
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ABSOLUTELY SENSATIONAL:
01 - Trey Cohen
02 - Matt Cardle
03 - Mary Byrne
04 - Katie Waissel
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VERY, VERY GOOD:
05 - One Direction
06 - Aiden Grimshaw
07 - Belle Amie

09 - Paije Richardson
10 - Cher Lloyd
11 - Diva Fever
12 - Storm Lee
13 - Rebecca Ferguson

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, AN ABOMINATION TO MUSIC AND TV
14 - Wagner

I predict Storm, Paije & Wagner for bottom 3. Or at least, they're my 3 least favourites...
Paije has really been a let down for me. Loved his auditions, etc... but come the live shows he seems really limited.
I only really loved Matt & Mary last night. Matt again, stole the show. I see him in a completely different league to everyone else. And he's GORGEOUS. Especially when they make him all up for the live shows, hehe. Sort of missed the whole musical hero thing by doing Bruno Mars but w/e, the song was perfect for him.
TreyC was still great but I thought her shrieking was a bit... monotonous? And her voice isn't really that unique. And Ruth Lorenzo OWNS Purple Rain as far as X Factor goes :p
Katie was a pleasant surprise, and EUGH I knew she looked familiar and I finally figured out where I recognise her from. She had her own YouTube show called 'Green Eyed World' which I found out through sxephil. And she went by the name Katie Vogel.
Rebecca sounded lovely, but if she won I would have no interest in seeing her perform live. At all. Her album would probably be lovely though, but not to my taste.
1Direction still need a lot of work. They're so disgustingly perfect for a boyband but they don't really mesh well on stage just yet. Like, 2 of them were looking deadly serious, 1 was making love to the camera and the other 2 were just jumping around. They need to be more coherent with one another. Weird song choice, and I was annoyed that they had a backing track in the chorus, you could barely hear the boys! EW @ LOUIS for questioning Kelly as a 'musical hero'. She's the most successful contestant to come from a reality show ever (and just downright amazing, OK?)
And also. WOW @ the lead on iTunes Bruno has got as a result. More than double that of Duck Sauce or f**k/forget you combined.
That really goes to show the power a single amazing performance on X Factor can do... when you consider it was #1 anyway but only with a slight lead on Duck Sauce (who's lead also increased after Diva Fever) it would probably have gotten the song to #1 even if it wasn't already in the charts at all!

Storm Lee - Oh how disappointing. I actually liked Storm but I think hes in trouble this week.
Treyc Cohen - Carbon copy of Alexandra Burke, but her voice is about twice as good. But that makes her no more appealing than Alex; boring, bland, predictable and not one bit entertaining.
Paije Richardson - Good voice but forgettable. I don't like his type of voice either, but can appreciate his talent.
One Direction - Not as good as last week, but still very decent. Although, there seems to be one odd voice in the mix and it needs to be fixed. I think its the guy that suffers from stage fright?
Cher Lloyd - Dire. Absolutely shocking to see people still liking her, and worse to hear people praise that performance. She had a good audition. Its about time people copped on!
John Adeleye - His voice is phenomenal and that performance was everything you could ask for if your into that sorta thing.
Diva Fever - I do not understand how these two are still in the competition? They got in because of the whole Jedward thing last year but the difference was that Jedward caused a stir whereas these don't even ripple. They need to get out.
Rebecca Ferguson - I love her voice and I loved last weeks performance, but the song choice this week was terrible. Not suited to her at all.
Aiden Grimshaw - I just DO NOT get this guy. He has a mediocre voice but I hate what he does with it. Last night his performance was awful, but I can't see much of a difference between his performance last week and this.
Katie Waisse - I dont care about her. I dont even want to bother watching her.
Wagner - He's not even entertaining. Read comment above.
Belle Amie - I hate girl groups in X Factor, they never seem to have any significant impact. I thought the same about these girls last week but last night they proved me wrong. I loved the performance and I thought it was very energetic and the vocals were good!
Mary Byrne - I thought she was a one trick pony last week. I honestly thought she would go downhill after her performance last week but she proved me utterly wrong last night. I love how she can keep up the popularity. The performance was stunning and I honestly think she'll go far in this competition. So proud of her.
Matt Cardle - What can I say? An absolute flawless performance. Gave me goosebumps. He has yet to disappoint me yet every week I'm nervous for him. He just continues to amaze me and he's already my favourite X Factor contestant ever.
I usually root for the weird and different acts in these sort of competitions but the standard of the generic artists is, plainly put, special. Matt and Mary are nothing new, but they push boundaries like no other contestant has (bar Leona of course) and I genuinely think a lot of this years acts will go far! =)

Cher didn't rap? Oh well then she's obviously the best performer ever.
Seriously though, her singing voice (lol) is average at best and she's made out to be the star of the show because she didn't rap. Total bull.
Such a disappointing show last night. Even Matt was painful to watch.
I enjoyed Matt's performance but it wasn't 'incredible' by any means, especially compared to his (in my opinion) other 3 flawless performances.

I detest how much they are pushing Cher, she's literally being shoved down our throats. And what Simon alluded to, about Cheryl neglecting Treyc, is spot on!!
Next week's theme in the X Factor is ROCK WEEK!
I think it might be boyband week the following week.
Simon let slip that JLS, Take That & Westlife will be performing...

The new theme this week is apparently American Anthems and some rumoured song choices:
Treyc - I Don't Want To Miss A Thing
Mary - There You'll Be
Its had also been rumoured that the theme would be "Madonna/Michael Jackson". However, that 'apparently' annoyed Kylie (who is performing on Sunday) who feared it would upstage her performance. Take this with a pinch of salt. Anyway, the Madonna/Jackson theme is no more.
Wonder if Mimi will be performing this year?
Wayne
11-05-2010, 09:21 AM
These are the song choices:
Cher - Empire State Of Mind - Jay-Z
TreyC - I don't wanna miss a thing - Aerosmith
One Direction - No boundaries - kris allen
Katie - Don't speak - No Doubt
Wagner - Viva Las Vegas - Elvis
Mary - There You'll Be
LMFAO at One Direction singing No Boundaries. Really? I don't believe it. Simon always comments on others picking unknown songs (usually Louis...) and how it's a bad idea. And it's hardly an American Anthem.
Out of those I'm most excited about Katie to be honest! Don't think TreyC should be doing the rock thing again after it landed her in the bottom last time (even though she was INCREDIBLE)... Cher, predictable.

Just shocking. My lovely Treyc has gone :(
Ya know, I'm not really all that fussed about TreyC doing. It was obvious her days were numbered, just as Katie's are...
I do think in this particular instance, TreyC (have to type it like this!) sang circles around Katie, probably even better than Toni herself can sing it these days!
TreyC has no musical identity though, like Dannii says... I already feel like I know Katie so much more; which on a show like this is arguably just as important as your singing ability (!) and I haven't read a single article about her that's been in the press as well, so that's saying something lol.
Jason
11-07-2010, 08:44 PM
I didn't like TreyC but the way things were handled tonight was pathetic. Dannii would never have gotten away with what their lovely Cheryl got away with.
Katie lay down and gave up. Simon would have her removed during the performance 5 years ago. She's going to be hated even MORE because of this. Simon is making her out to be the next public hate figure. Poor girl.
As for Matt....yum.
Wayne

I suppose that at the end of the day, it all boils down to what you prefer - an average singer, with a big persona, or a fantastic singer with not so much personality (at least not overtly).
Treyc always came across very well, and very pleasantly. She will be missed by me. Ironically, I actually thought Katie's survival performance tonight was great, one of my favourite performances of the series

Anyway, not sure if I can be bothered with the performances - so far, watched Mary and she was good. Loved the end note. Apparently Rebecca was the standout from a dull night, with not even Matt living up to his usually high expectations

LOADS OF X FACTOR NEWS TODAY, courtesy of Digital Spy
Aiden Grimshaw has confirmed that he didn't get on with Katie Waissel on The X Factor.
Grimshaw was axed from the show on Sunday after falling into the bottom two and losing out to Waissel in the Deadlock public vote.
Speaking to X Magazine about his exit, he said "If she's got through then she's obviously liked by whomever she's liked by... She's not really liked by me, to be honest. I am upset because I'm going to miss everyone that works on the show."
He also confessed that he was disappointed to not progress further than Brazilian singer Wagner Carrilho in the competition.
"It was a bit of a shock [on Sunday] because Wagner got through, let's not lie," he said. "But I never professed to be a massive popstar."
One Direction have rubbished reports that they have had a girl ban placed upon them.
The X Factor boyband said that a tabloid story about Liam Payne not allowing his bandmates to have girlfriends was nonsense.
Louis Tomlinson told X Magazine: "Absolute tosh, the entire thing. Liam wouldn't be able to slap a girl ban on us if he tried."
Payne joked: "This is the first I've heard of it. Am I supposed to have slapped a girl ban on myself too? That would just be stupid."
Harry Styles added: "Not even a police officer could enforce that."
Bookmakers believe that Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction are the main contenders for this year's X Factor crown.
Punters can now place bets on the acts that will finish in the top three positions with Paddy Power (http://www.paddypower.com/bet/novelty-betting/tv-specials/x-factor?AFF_ID=4345) and the trio are currently leading the field.
Ex-painter and decorator Cardle is still the favourite to lift the crown at 7/4 (http://www.paddypower.com/bet/novelty-betting/tv-specials/x-factor?AFF_ID=4345), just ahead of Ferguson at 2/1 (http://www.paddypower.com/bet/novelty-betting/tv-specials/x-factor?AFF_ID=4345), while One Direction are being backed at 11/4 (http://www.paddypower.com/bet/novelty-betting/tv-specials/x-factor?AFF_ID=4345) to triumph.
Cher Lloyd and Wagner Carrilho are thought to the only competition at 8/1 (http://www.paddypower.com/bet/novelty-betting/tv-specials/x-factor?AFF_ID=4345) and 25/1 (http://www.paddypower.com/bet/novelty-betting/tv-specials/x-factor?AFF_ID=4345) respectively, while Paije Richardson has surprisingly long odds of 66/1 (http://www.paddypower.com/bet/novelty-betting/tv-specials/x-factor?AFF_ID=4345), despite never being in the bottom two.
Katie Waissel is the favourite to get the axe this weekend and is 10/11 (http://www.paddypower.com/bet/novelty-betting/tv-specials/x-factor?AFF_ID=4345) to leave this Sunday. Carrilho at 9/4 (http://www.paddypower.com/bet/novelty-betting/tv-specials/x-factor?AFF_ID=4345) and Richardson at 9/2 (http://www.paddypower.com/bet/novelty-betting/tv-specials/x-factor?AFF_ID=4345) are also thought to be in danger.
Louis Walsh has claimed that X Factor singer Cher Lloyd is not likeable.
The mentor and judge suggested to Heat that Lloyd has the biggest ego of all the contestants in this year's competition.
Walsh said: "I couldn't work with Cher. She thinks she's going to be an overnight success and because she listens to American R&B she's picked up all these weird musical things and makes funny faces. There's no likeability there.
"Cher is believing her own publicity, which is a big mistake. She's definitely changed. I don't get any warmth from her. She needs to learn to be nice to everybody - because you'll meet them on the way down."
He continued: "I think she peaked doing Shakespears Sister's 'Stay'. Any other year, she might have gone all the way, but I love Rebecca [Ferguson]."
Of Cheryl Cole's attitude towards her remaining charges, Walsh said: "I think Cheryl should put in more effort with Rebecca. Rebecca is the nicest, most grateful and talented girl. I love her the most out of all the contestants.
"You can tell that Cher is Cheryl's favourite... You might have favourites, but you have to be seen to be giving equal attention."
Asked if he would warn Lloyd that she is 'getting too big for her boots', he added: "No, because I don't think she'd listen!"
Treyc Cohen has claimed that Cher Lloyd plays "mind games" with her fellow contestants on The X Factor.
Cohen, who was eliminated from the show last week after her sing-off with Katie Waissel, told Heat that Lloyd was not always honest with the other singers.
Cohen said: "Cher knows what she wants and how to get her own way. Sometimes she'd try to make out she'd got her own way even if she hadn't - she played mind games.
"She'd make out she'd spoken to Cheryl on a few occasions, when I knew she hadn't. If there were reports that Cheryl had been shopping for her, Cher wouldn't deny them even if they weren't true.
"She'd get the most freebies, and would make out she was the most special. Paul's Boutique loved her. She got shoes, clothes. It's a shame she's not my size..."
Of her own attitude on the show, Cohen said: "If we weren't happy with our song choices, we'd get peed off. I wasn't happy with my song choices for that last week and I threw a strop."
Regarding her relationship with Waissel, Cohen added: "We weren't close or anything, but she made me laugh. She's alright."

Hi just thought I would help you out on this one as this has become my new forum to stalk :)
It was confirmed (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s103/the-x-factor/news/a288434/x-factor-confirms-beatles-theme-week.html) yesterday that contestants will have to sing a track by the Fab Four on this weekend's live show. It is the first time that the theme has been used on the programme.
According to The Sun, last week's sing-off survivor Katie Waissel has decided to sing 'Help', while fellow 24-year-old Rebecca Ferguson will tackle 'Yesterday'.
Cher Lloyd has reportedly chosen to perform John Lennon's 'Imagine', and Simon Cowell's One Direction have decided upon 'All You Need Is Love'.
Matt Cardle is said to be singing 'Come Together' - previously performed on the ITV singing contest by Olly Murs - while Paije Richardson will tackle 'Let It Be'.
In Louis Walsh's category, Mary Byrne has been given 'Something', while Wagner Carrilho keeps up his record of performing medleys by fusing together 'Get Back', 'Hippy Hippy Shake' and 'Hey Jude'.
I don't like it when the theme is limited to the songs of one artist. If you don't happen to be a fan of the chosen artist,it makes for a yawn of a show.
Wayne
11-21-2010, 08:24 AM
Matt - I think he looked absolutely gorgeous, its the first time I've been full on attracted to him! :o I really, really like Come Together, and think he did it very well
Mary - her best week yet? Seriously, she did excellent. If she wasn't so large, and the age she is (British public are fickle), she'd be a contender
Paijie - blegh. Go already
Cher - well this wasn't a Beatles song now was it? Bit of cheating here by Cheryl, it wasn't even recorded by Lennon when the Beatles were active! Still, she had perhaps the toughest song of the evening as she was tackling this massive song - I didn't think she could hold a note so well, but she stayed in tune and key ultimately giving us a competent (at best) performance. No star quality in here though
One Direction - another typical OD performance
Wagner - if he doesn't leave this week, then mehh.
Rebecca - blegh.
Katie - she sang the Tina Turner intro of the song, much to my liking (Youtube Tina singing this, she was PHENOMENAL). Katie did good tonight. Not to keen on her new styling though

According to a digitalspy poll - 'who is the best judge/mentor'. Simon Cowell, 8 votes. Cheryl Cole, 35 votes. Louis Walsh, 46 votes. Dannii Minogue, 279 votes. 81%!
So, to recap:
Simon Cowell: 8
Cheryl Cole: 35
Louis Walsh: 46
Dannii Minogue: 279
How amazing!
Jason
11-21-2010, 01:57 PM
Dannii deserves it! Thats the reason why Simon doesn't like the poor dear - she speaks the truth.
Awful show last night. Matt was painful to listen to :( Katie wes nowhere near as good as people are making her out to be. Her hair makes her look like a man too. I mean, her roots were bad but I quite liked her Gwen hair.
Quite a disappointing night overall for me. Katie's performance is the only one I would want to watch again. Hate her new styling though.
Rebecca said on Xtra Factor she thought she 'murdered' the song and hope people can forgive her! People seem to think she might be in trouble tonight. I'm sure if she did end up in the bottom she would beat whoever she was up against. Unless it was Matt or maybe Cher.
I've always predicted that this would be the point where Wagner leaves, so I hope he finally goes. Failing that, I predict the bottom 2 will be Paige & Cher :O
Lol @ that Digital Spy poll. Louis second? Simon last? But yes, I agree Dannii is by far the best judge. As a mentor I would want either her or Simon.

I just paid attention to what Cheryl had to say to Wager on Saturday night. What an unprofessional spanner. Trying to get her council estate roots behind her and it backfired horribly. Wager displayed himself quite well after that and really put her in her place. Simon really should have shot her down too for the lack of tact.
^ I agree. Even though he did semi admit to mentioning it, we're always told not to believe what we read in the papers (especially when it comes to say, Katie) so she really had no right to bring it up... just made herself look like a bitch.

Is anybody else really disappointed with next week's guest performers? All they could muster was The Wanted, Justin Bieber and I forget the other one (?!)
I like the Wanted and would love them to perform Heart Vacancy, but why couldn't the Saturdays be invited on to perform with Flo Rida? Or somebody with a little more...star quality about them?! I'd love for Kelis to go on :D
I mean what will the Wanted's introductory VT consist of?...."nearly got #1..on more than one occassion" :/
^ They're debut got to #1. That's one more #1 than the Saturday's have!
Would have loved The Sats to perform higher but it would have been awful. LOVE them but they're so vocally weak apart from Vanessa. Love Una but she sounds dreadful during her middle 8. Even their 'mimed to a pre-recorded version' performances sounded average at best.
Nicole is the other performer, btw.
I'm not fussed on any of them but come on, Justin Bieber is huge.
Wayne
11-22-2010, 04:38 PM
Huge in the US? He has one top 10 single in the UK, Baby which got to #3.
Regardless, this week is crap in terms of guest performers, for me anyway. The Wanted are just there to reinforce Simon's boyband down our throats.

Who the hell are The Wanted? Some escaped prisoners?
Jeez, embarrassment to the max that they couldn't garner any "quality" performers. But hey, Justin Bieber won "Artist of the Year" or something in the AMAs, so I guess he's huge :tehe:

Judging by this list, maybe it's a good thing I'm going out tonight. Wagner REALLY has to go!
Dannii is my favourite judge this year as she's really the only one who's been giving an honest opinion of each contestant's performance and saying where they could improve. Something seems to be wrong with Simon, though, and I'm not respecting him as much as I used to.
I also wish the audience would shut up whenever the judges are trying to give their opinion on each act's performance, as it's sooooooooooooooooooooo irritating.

I loved Mary and Matt tonight, both were excellent (especially, Matt on his second performance, which I thought was absolutely sensational). Thought the very obvious boo-ing of Wagner was hilarious :P And Louis is a joke, with some of his comments.
One thing I did pick up on was Cheryl Cole's shit attitude, she just needs to GTFO! Oh btw, its quite obvious that this is the week they want rid of Wagner. As he opened the show before?

Mary and Matt were my favourites too last night. I will be REALLY surprised if Matt doesn't make it to the finals as he's been really consistent every single week and is actually a very versatile performer.
As for Wagner... this was the first week he's been on first and it's obvious they are trying to get rid of him now, although the lyrics in Radiohead's 'Creep' were actually very appropriate! His performance of 'Addicted To Love' was just wrong on so many levels.
I'm still trying to decide who should go tonight, but as it's a double elimination it makes it more interesting.

First performances:
Wagner - His best vocally. I enjoyed it, it was great to see! LOL at Louis thinking it's "I'm a winner" when it's "I'm a weirdo". But maybe he WILL be the winner? :O
One Direction - Enjoyable performance. What can I say...
Mary - Great performance.
Cher - I didn't really like it. I don't like that song anyway. Don't agree with Simon about it being her best performance.
Rebecca - So much better than last week. Really enjoyed it. She seemed more confident as well. Strong performance.
Matt - Enjoyed it more than last week.
Katie - It was an interesting performance, even if not all that great vocally.
Second performances:
Wagner - I thought it was pretty ok again! :O Not as good as the first song though.
One Direction - That wasn't rock. But whatever. I thought Louis and Niall would sing solo since Zain did, but I don't think they did. I'm a little disappointed. Maybe next time?
Mary - Nice performance an' all...
Rebecca - It was very cool, but I would have liked to see her take the moving even further. Still, it was very enjoyable.
Katie - Hmm... It was a bit messy. Not my favourite performance of hers.
Matt - One of my favourite performances of his. Beautiful.
Cher - That was fun, I liked it so much more than 'Girlfriend'.

Mary was interviewed on Irish radio yesterday and she said that one of the songs she's doing this weekend is the Gladys Knight version of Barbara Streisand's 'The Way We Were'.
I also heard the best name ever to describe One Direction - 'The Children of the Corn'.

Leona Lewis has revealed that she will not appear as a guest performer on this year's X Factor.
The 'Happy' singer told fans the news during a live webchat via UStream yesterday evening.
Lewis said that she will not appear on the show this year so she can "fully concentrate" on her third studio album, which is slated for release in summer 2011.
The star further confirmed that she has not been booked to appear on any "major shows" in the near future.
It was recently reported (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a290705/leona-lewis-works-with-guetta-on-new-lp.html) that Lewis has worked with French DJ David Guetta on her forthcoming record.

Shame really, I wanted her on the final!
Was expecting her to promote her Tour DVD (my Blu-ray copy came in the post today OMG so excited to watch). How disappointing :(
At least we have Alex this week :)

Apparently, the theme is club classics.
Mary Byrne has confirmed that she is singing ‘The Way We Were’ by Barbara Streisand for one of her tracks and Gloria Gaynor’s version of ‘Never Can Say Goodbye’ as the other.
Cher Lloyd is reportedly singing Rihanna and Eminem’s track ‘Love The Way You Lie’.
One Direction are said to be singing a Rihanna track also, opting for ‘Only Girl In The World’

Wouldn't they have to change the lyrics slightly? Unless Simon is planning to dress them all up as girls!

I actually wouldn't put it past him and anyway he has done some very strange things before - like giving Robson & Jerome a record deal and signing the WWF wrestlers and the Power Rangers to his record label.
I wanna make you feel. Like you're the only girl in the world.....
It's perfectly doable. It's club classics & 'songs that will get you into the finals'.
I also read that Simon is letting them all choose their own winners single? INTERESTING. But that didn't work well on Idol. And it means MORE cover songs. It's not as bad when they cover some obscure swedish pop song but if there's one thing I hate about X Factor, it's how they almost push you into being a cover artist.

I'm actually glad that Alexandra put her foot down and said that she didn't want to be continuously doing cover versions for her whole career. The majority of cover versions that have been released are never as good as the original.

I read that to, and think that its perfect (although lets face it, there will be a shortlist of what they can sing, and then they'll choose - like at bootcamp - Simon would never give them complete autonomy!!). The rumoured winners single was meant to be Stronger (Britney Spears) but that probably won't come alive! :P

Oh me to! I just wish she'd distance herself from JLS *sigh* I'm SO excited for her live performance of The Silence tonight - her performance on Paul O Grady some months ago was AMAAAZING

In spite of being sick, I thought Matt did really well. It'll be an absolute joke if he's not in the final.
I liked Rebecca's first performance but her second one was soooooooo dull. And what the hell was Louis talking about when he said she moved during her first performance? All she did was walk from the steps down through a platform with lights on it.
Mary was just so-so, IMO. I know she can sing but I haven't really been seeing anything different with her performances for the last few weeks.
One Direction almost put me to sleep last night, especially during their second performance. They're safe, though, as all the teenyboppers are voting for them.
Cher was HORRIFIC and if she believes she can be a credible hip hop artist, then I think she's mistaken. She'll never sell a fraction of what Eminem or Jay-Z have sold and she'll never crack the US market.
Please get rid of Cher!
There's an video interview with Cher on Perez Hilton. How the fuck is that fair? :(
Wayne
12-05-2010, 12:04 PM
^ That is definitely not fair!! Meh, this contest is such a manipulated one!
I agree with you Sarah; Matt definitely needs to make the final. I loved his first performance in particular
Blossom

I am sooooooooooooo happy that Matt made it through, but if I'm not mistaken in the semi finals don't they usually go by the public vote and therefore the judges don't get to decide who goes home? The rules were definitely changed this time around just so Cher could get through to the final. Mary was a BILLION times better in the sing-off but once Cher turned on the waterworks they just had to let her through.
She's never going to survive in the music business...
Jason
12-06-2010, 02:58 PM
I was so disappointed that Dannii sent Mary home. I honestly thought that she wouldn't because she usually bases her vote on the sing off and Mary was unquestionably better. And that interview?? Reality television manipulation at its very best lol

Matt Cardle hopes duet with Christina Aguilera can clinch X Factor win
The singer, whose hits include Dirrty, has been booked to sing songs from her new film Burlesque but bosses are desperately trying to persuade her to be Matt’s celebrity partner, too.
The 29-year-old has been approached by Matt’s mentor Dannii Minogue, who fears fellow judges Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole may try to pinch her for their acts One Direction and Cher Lloyd.
‘A duet between Christina and Matt would be a magical moment – just like when Beyoncé dueted with Alexandra Burke during 2008’s final,’ said an X Factor insider.
‘Matt’s voice is phenomenal and Christina can hit notes no one has dreamed of. They would be a perfect pairing no matter what song they sang.’
Matt, 27, is the bookies’ favourite to win the contest.
An official X Factor spokesman said: ‘We’re not confirming any of our guest performers.’

Mary Byrne set to pocket £1,000,000!
There's nothing we like better than a good old rags to riches story, and it looks as though this Christmases heart-warming tale comes courtesy of Tesco Mary - who looks set to make around a million quid!
Despite coming fifth in the X Factor (http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/the-x-factor/) last night, the Daily Mail reckons the checkout lady will bag herself a load of lucrative sponsorship deals; “Mary is set to make a fortune on the back of the X Factor (http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/the-x-factor/), she has become a star. She has even been offered a plus sized clothing (http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/music/musicnews/Mary+Byrne-88062.html#) range for a supermarket and Marks and Spencer have been in touch. They love her - who knows, she could be joining Twiggy and Myleene Klass on the adverts in time!”
Considering she's a size 20 we’re assuming M&S probably won’t be using Mary in their saucy lingerie ads… we we're hoping Mary doesn't turn her back on Tesco after they've been so supportive (http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/music/musicnews/Mary+Byrne-88062.html#)… apparently bosses even got into trouble after they emailed 300,000 employees asking them to vote Mary.
A "plus sized" clothing range! LMAO! Its also said that Mary has signed a record deal with Sony?!
Confirmed for Saturday:
Celebrity duets:
One Direction and Robbie Williams
Cher Lloyd and Will.I.Am
Rebecca Ferguson and Christina Aguilera
Matt Cardle and Rihanna
And then they each sing their audition song:
One Direction – Torn
Cher Lloyd – Turn My Swag On
Rebecca Ferguson – A Change is Gonna Come
Matt Cardle – You Know I’m No Good
Should be good :)

I wasn't sure if I would bother with comments tonight but I can't help myself. It is the final after all.
So.
First performances:
Matt
For some reason, I felt unsure about the song choice at first, although I like the song, but by the end of the song I felt positive about his performance. I feel like Matt is the most musical out of all of them, although for some reason, he just doesn't quite click with me personality-wise.
Rebecca
She is the nicest girl in the world, gorgeous inside and out and while it was a nice, solid performance, I feel it just sort of blended in with her previous performances. Maybe it's that the voice is getting a bit annoying at this stage, even though it's definitely a strong voice and a voice we don't get to hear much in music.
One Direction
Not sure what to say about this performance. I guess I quite liked it. I love Louis from this band, pity he never sings solo, and it would be so nice for a band to win for once.
Cher
This was hugely enjoyable. I was tapping my feet and feeling warm. It's a pity she's gone, because maybe she would have done another performance of 'Turn My Swag On' tomorrow, which I would have loved and I was really looking forward to it. There was something about her performance of that at her audition.
With Cher, it's like I really liked her in the beginning, somewhere in the middle I maybe lost the connection a little bit, and then in the end (tonight), I really liked her again. And she looked great tonight I thought! She was especially cute in her performance with Will.i.am.
I also surprisingly found tonight that I might actually be interested in Cher's music after the show, if she gets to make some, because even though I'm not particularly a hip hop fan, I feel like she might make something different from the usual hip hop, maybe kinda like M.I.A., and I love M.I.A, so... :)
Second performances:
Matt with Rihanna
It got hot at one point, didn't it? :P And I quite enjoyed the performance, although I didn't absolutely love it or anything.
Rebecca with Christina Aguilera
Again, wasn't mad about it, but it's a nice song and they did a good job.
One Direction with Robbie Williams
They were really loving it, and that was the best part about this performance.
Cher with Will.i.am
Cher's look was the best part about THIS performance. I like the chorus of 'Where is the Love' and Cher sang it quite nicely. 'I Gotta Feeling' annoys me however, but the performance wasn't so unenjoyable after all.
I think Matt is going to win, and that is a combination of what I've heard/read and my own gut feeling, although I would prefer to see either of the other two win, even if Matt is arguably the most interesting musically. Rebecca is just so nice and I feel like she deserves it because she has been consistent and her confidence has improved. One Direction I would like to see win because they are a group and a group has never won and I just have this attraction to Louis (not Walsh, although I quite like him as a person too :P)
Over.

^ Awesome review Mattias! Definitely agree about Rebecca
Since when did Rihanna get so freaking good at singing? She was absolutely brilliant tonight, especially during What's My Name? I thought that her and Matt were the best duet, and that Matt gave the best individual performance.
Glad that Cher went; Matt or 1D to win!

I am soooooooooooooooooooooo happy that Matt won and was actually STUNNED to see One Direction finish in 3rd place, as I really thought they would be in the final two. What's even more surprising is that they were never in the Top 2 voting results all throughout the season.
I wasn't sure who the original artists of Matt and Rebecca's songs were, so I had to look it up. I thought Rebecca's performance was pretty dull in comparison to Matt's and I definitely think he's the best male winner the show has produced to date. I hope he has a really good career, as he's proven that he can do any genre of music.

A peak of 19.44 million tuned in to see Matt Cardle crowned champion on last night's The X Factor final, according to early ratings figures.
The two-hour finale, which also featured performances from Take That, averaged a colossal 16.08m (51.5%) for ITV1 from 7.30pm, with a further 1.08m (3.5%) watching on ITV1 HD. Overnight ratings figures do not take into account viewers who may have been watching in pubs or clubs.
The figure is on par with that for the finale of the 2009 series, when a peak of 19.7m (63.2%) watched (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s103/the-x-factor/news/a191274/joe-mcelderrys-x-factor-win-draws-197m.html) as Joe McElderry was named the winner.
Last night's peak came at 9.20pm, when 18.14m (56.4%) were tuned to ITV1 and 1.3m (4.1%) to ITV1 HD.
Spinoff show The Xtra Factor commanded a similarly huge audience, drawing an average of 2.31m (9.6%) for ITV2 between 9.30pm and 10.45pm. A further 175k (1.1%) watched on ITV2+1.
On BBC One, the latest Strictly Come Dancing results show - in which two couples were eliminated (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s104/strictly-come-dancing/news/a292833/henson-maslen-denied-strictly-final-spot.html) - drew an average of 11.58m (41.1%) between 7pm and 7.30pm.
Later on the channel, Antiques Roadshow mustered up 5.71m (18.4%) from 7.30pm, then Inspector George Gently took 4.15m (13.8%).
After The X Factor on ITV1, 5.24m (22%) remained to see Piers Meets Elton: A Life Stories Special.
BBC Two held a respectable audience opposite the commercial competition, averaging 1.94m (7.8%) with its snooker coverage between 8pm and midnight.
Channel 5's movie The One had 681k (2.2%) from 7.50pm, then the audience rose to a commendable 1.92m (9.2%) for Dirty Dancing at 9.30pm.
On Channel 4, Celebrity Come Dine With Me managed 900k (2.8%), then Any Human Heart delivered 990k (3.5%).
Overall in primetime, ITV1 was on top with an average share of 37.8% and 2.3% for ITV1 HD. BBC One had 18.8% for second, followed by BBC Two with 6.4%, Channel 4 with 4% (+1: 0.7%) and Five with 4.3%.
Massive figures!
