The following is a compilation of things celebrities have said about Mariah:

MARIAH, THE PERSON

Derek Jeter: "I was intrigued with Mariah because we had a lot of similarities. Like me, she has a mixed heritage. She has White Irish mother and an African-American Venezuelan Father. Like me, she had a dream in life that she zealously pursued. She knew she wanted to be a singer, and made that her mission. Like me, she still works extremely hard at her profession. she's a beautiful woman, on the inside and outside, and I had a deep respect for her and the way she handled herself. she started out with nothing but a dream that she would be a BIG STAR, and to this day, she still works hard at fulfilling that dream. She's constantly writing, she's constantly in the studio, she's constantly trying to get better. She's someone a lot of people can learn from. I know I did. Whether you like her music or you think it's terrible, you could learn a lot of the way she pursued her goal." (Excerpts from "The Life You Imagine: Life Lessons For Achieving Your Dreams" Book)

Anastacia: "Just after her individual performance, I met Mariah. She actually came up to me, it was so weird. I had no idea that she even knew I existed. She came and told me that she loves my voice and she loved my "Not That Kind" album. I freaked out, haha! I couldn't believe how nice she was, I never expected it from all the rumours I hear. But she's extremely kind and down-to-earth and you know what? We chatted for a while and she told me to sing at the front with her at the end when we performed "What More Can I Give." It was an honour." (Australia's Dope Music Magazine, 2002)

Janet Jackson: "I have met [Carey] before and she's really cool and so funny. Everyone has been given the wrong impression of her, and maybe it is her doing. But you have to remember that celebrities are always in the spotlight and are sometimes forced to conduct them selves in a different way than they normally do. That?s how it is in the business. I have met artists who are real divas, but Mariah Carey is not one of them. She is a very sweet person, and what nobody sees off camera is the real person she is on the inside." (Music Beat)

Damizza: "They say all these negative things about her like she dates rappers or about the way she dresses. If anybody were to meet her, they'd know she's Mary Poppins. She doesn't smoke, she hardly drinks, she doesn't do drugs. She's got a very sensitive voice so that if she walks into a room with smoke she can't sing for three days, or she can't talk. It's funny to be her friend and read all these things about her. Tabloids are always saying she's off on holiday but she's the hardest working person I've ever met in my life. She works 23 hours a day, literally, she never sleeps and she takes care of everybody. When I hear someone say something about her I usually get offended because she gave me my shot, she gave Shade his shot, she gave us all our shots. She gave ODB his first light of day past Wu Tang Clan, and she invented the whole pop-rap collaboration. Nobody would have done a song with ODB at that level - this is a lady who'd sold a 100 million records at that point. She did not have to do that record, she wasn't trying to get street credibility. When we did 'Cry Baby' for her album a long time ago, I called Snoop and said what we wanted to do and he said "'Vision of Love' is my favourite record of all time." Everybody has a soft spot for Mariah. She's the greatest in the world."

Diane Warren: "She works really hard. No matter what she's done, there's a hunger there. She doesn't have to prove herself, but she feels like she does."

Jamie Theakson: "Mariah Carey is the perfect modern celebrity - larger than life, glamorous and totally over the top. I think some women disagree with her diva-like behaviour, but without her, the world of entertainment would be a much duller place.

I first met her in 1997 when she was promoting her album Butterfly and we hit it off immediately. With everything that had been written about her I had no idea what to expect, but she was smart, warm and very funny. She's a lot of fun to be around and unlike a lot of celebrities, can really laugh at herself. When she performed on Top Of The Pops we started a rumour she'd demanded puppies in her dressing room and it became instant Mariah folklore. But she loved it because it was all harmless fun, and that's what she's all about." (Glamour UK)

Shania Twain: Mariah is very grounded, a smart and level-headed person. I don't understand why people criticize her intelligence when she can do something as miraculous as recover from a physical and exhaustion breakdown, a record label buy-out, a film flop, and a soundtrack whose sales has proven to have received little to no recognition and absolutely no promotion. She can't be that simple if she can make a come back the way she did. She hasn't been given enough credit in my opinion. She has to be some sort of a genius actually just to have focused on becoming a stronger person and not letting people like the media destroy her completely. There are some people out there that can't handle the pressure of being a celebrity and the criticism and knowing that besides success there is always failure that you have to lean to recover from, and Mariah has proven to be the type of person who doesn't let anyone or anything break her down. She knows how to keep her life on track and if that isn't intelligence then I don't know what is."

Whitney Houston: "We've never met or talked before. It was our first time working together. In the studio, we were laughing a lot and talking in between a song, we had a great time together. She's a vivid minded girl, she's a smart lady. I really like Mariah."

Jimmy "Jam" Harris: "From a personal stand point, Mariah's kindness stood out the most. She's a very caring person. We know from listening to her records how talented she is, but we didn't really know how talented she really is until we work with her in the studio. After working with Mariah, I can say, she's part of our family now. She's workaholic and definitely the mother of her career."

Max Beesley, co-star in "Glitter": "She was lovely. I actually kidnapped her one night! I wanted to take her out for a meal to thank her for taking such good care of us all for four months. So I took her out into New York, and told her that the night was on me, and we just going to relax. But she said, 'Well I'll get the wine then.' So I just picked out any bottle, and she ordered three of it. I was downing them like a proper Manc - like it was a pint of beer - when the bill arrived and she started laughing. 900 dollars each! I was really embarrassed!" (BBC1 Interview)

Missy Elliott: "MC is a funny girl and always makes me laugh no matter what. I love her!"

Shade Shiest: "I don't think it's because she's Mariah Carey, I don't think she's being singled out. It's because anyone successful is always going to be the target of negativity. She's a wonderful person, she's like a big sister to both of us and I have never seen her act any different from her normal self which is just like any other person. She's talented and she's just a regular person."

Sharlee Jeter: "She's a very nice person and I love her to death. But what happened to them [Mariah & Derek] is between them."

MARIAH'S MUSIC

Kelly Clarkson: "Mariah is an excellent writer and singer. I believe she doesn't receive the credit she deserves." (The Straits Times)

Mary J. Blige: I love Mariah Carey. Mariah Carey's music saved little ghetto children's lives. Songs like "Visions of Love" gave us hope and we would sing those songs and try to hit every note like Mariah -- which we can't. I don't think she knows what a big part she plays in Mary J. Blige's life. And then to meet her... she's such a beautiful person that you can't do anything but defend her when [the media] starts acting stupid on her. She doesn't deserve that. (Barnes and Noble interview)

Mary J. also said in her acceptance speech at the 2005 Vibe Awards where Mariah was in the audience, "Mariah I love you, and I'm so happy for you. (Talking about Mariah's success with "The Emancipation of Mimi")

Busta Rhymes: "One of the best singers in the game, hands down..." (Blender)

Aretha Franklin: "[Erykah] Badu is a very good vocalist. I like her wit. She's kind of a cross between Diana Ross and Billie Holiday. Mariah Carey has done some things I like. Her vocals and production have a very tight quality." (Time)

Walter Afanasieff: "She actually knows every song ever written. She's a walking encyclopedia of songs, from every Stevie Wonder song all the way to every Police record ever made. She carries around this 'hard disk' full of songs. And there's nothing she can't sing." (Fred Bronson's The Billboard Book of Number 1 Hits)

Whitney Houston: When asked if she remembered first hearing Mariah's music, Whitney replied by singing a line from "Vision of Love" and said, "Yep, I remember it. It was like, kinda, my tone, not quite me. Who is she?" (MTV interview with John Norris)

David Foster: "Working with Mariah was an extraordinary opportunity for me. It goes without saying that she's one of the world's greatest singers, but it was her musicianship that stunned me. She thinks like a record producer and lays her vocals down like a virtouso guitarist. Singer, Songwriter, Producer Mariah is a triple treat. Working with her was a wonderful experience from beginning to end."

Ben Folds: "She's got the most amazing voice. Although the production on her new album, "The Emancipation of Mimi," may turn some off, I find the sheer talent involved reason enough to listen. I love classic soul ballads like "Mine Again" and "Fly Like a Bird." I also like that she's using her voice on this album more like a male singer might, like Prince. She could show off and belt, but she's evolving and doesn't seem to need to prove herself every bar, so you get the interpretation of an amazing singer." (The New York Times)

Patti LaBelle: Has often complimented Mariah ("She has a great voice. I don't know, I love her talent!") and has even called her, her god-daughter. She introduced her at the 1999 Billboard Awards and has duetted with Mariah. She also gave a standing ovation to her when Mariah performed a medley of "If Only You Knew/Somewhere Over The Rainbow" "Mariah has an amazing gift from God that has no color, no boundaries and no limitations. You hear the passion and honesty within her music."

Jessica Simpson: "Oh, my Gosh! Can you imagine they're comparing me to her...I mean she's the biggest selling artist of the decade, and I admire her too."

"I'm a huge fan of Mariah Carey. I admired her music for so long. It's hard to follow on her footstep. She's so successful. Mariah's Mariah. To be compared to her is a huge compliment."

Jessica said that "My All" was her favorite song of 1998, and also said that she used to warm up by singing "Hero."

Nelly: "Mariah Carey, she's possibly the best singer I've heard. And you watch someone such as Mariah, who went from the highest of the high to the lowest of the low, and come back like she never missed a beat, and stand up and smack everybody in the face like, 'I'm still here; matter of fact I'm better” that gives you inspiration. That keeps me going."

P!nk: "I love her style, I love especially her covers and samples. I think 'Glitter' is great. It´s a shame that the press never understood how honest this movie is."

Toni Braxton: "I really admire Mariah Carey. I think she's a underrated, because she's a great producer, a wonderful writer, and no one gives her props for that. They always say 'Oh look, did you see what she had on?' And this and that. I'm like she's 30 years old, she's not 70 with breast hanging like chickens. She's young, she's beautiful, she has a great body. I just think she's wonderful, and I think people beat her up a lil' too much.

Especially Mariah's 'One Sweet Day' - the one she did with Boyz II Men. Oh my God, that really helped me through a rough time."

Probably Ella Fitzgerald, that's past, but if you're talking currently, I really like Mariah Carey. She's wonderful, she's a writer, and a producer, and I don't think people give her credit as she should.

"I like the things that Irv Gotti is doing with hip-hop tracks and R&B with Ashanti. To be honest, Mariah Carey really pioneered that. All people wanted to talk about was her shorty-short shorts, but forget the chances she took. "Mariah with ODB...what was she thinking?" When I heard it, I said, "I get it, Mariah. Hands up, girl!" (Network Magazine, Nov. 2002)

Joe Elliott, lead singer of Def Leppard: "Mariah Carey has also covered it...and about bloody time! It took 21 years for someone to do a proper cover of one of our songs. Apparently she was listening to Vault when she decided to get back in the studio and add it to her own already finished album. Because 'Bringin' On The Heartbreak' is the final track it suggests she listened right through to the end. That makes it hard not to say, 'God bless ya, girl.'" (In the liner notes of "Rock of Ages" album)

"I think she's done a very good job [with "Bringin' On The Heartbreak"]. It's faithful to the arrangement, but not done like a rock song. Some astonishing vocal gymnastics toward the end that make Minnie Riperton sound like Tom Waits." (Las Vegas Sun)

Phil Collen, guitarist - Def Leppard: Praised Mariah's cover of "Bringin' On The Heartbreak" as a "genuine version of our song" and defended it from Def Leppard's more critical fans: "The fans really get it wrong sometimes. She's on our side and it's an honour she's done it. Really, that's the only way we're getting played. One of the best singers in the game, hands down..." (Rolling Stone)

"She's an icon. She's one of the most influential singers of the last decade. I mean, someone like Christina Aguilera is trying to imitate what Mariah did." (Calgary Herald)

John Mayer: "There's something about Mariah Carey. She's super hot and people don't realize how much influence she's had." (Blender)

Cameron Diaz: Diaz has reportedly said that her idea of torture is to be locked in a room and made to listen to Mariah Carey records.

Rhett Lawrence, Producer: "I literally got goosebumps on my arms when I heard her sing. I couldn't believe the power and maturity of her voice. It was obvious that she was great - she was amazing."

Shawn Stockman, Boyz II Men: "Of course. Mariah is talented, and you can't denounce her talent. Yeah, she's gone through a couple of personal things, but that didn't change the quality and the texture of her voice. It was only a matter of time before she would rise again and be on top."

Thalia: "She has a voice that started a new era in music in the 90s. I used to listen to her songs. She's accomplished so much in her career with her numerous number one songs."

Mark Feehilly, Westlife: "You know the way you see people's names on the credits, and it's like, I wonder if she actually really did that or are they just getting their name on there such a big artist?" vocalist Mark Feehilly asks. "I always wondered that about Mariah Carey, and I was so happy to find out that she actually sat there at the desk, pushing up and down the buttons. She actually does produce her own songs and she writes her own songs, too. So, as a big fan, it made me respect her even more." (Rolling Stone, July 2000)

[b]MARIAH'S MUSICAL INFLUENCE

Nelly Furtado: "All that rap and R&B I listened to as a kid made an impression on me; I used to write R&B songs in my bedroom that sounded like Mariah Carey songs." (Billboard)

"The first singer I really got into was Mariah Carey when I was about 12. She kind of taught me how to sing 'cause, you know, couldn't really afford singing lessons. So, I would just listen to Mariah Carey's CD over and over again, and learn all her lyrics."

Kelly Clarkson: Often cites Mariah as a source of inspiration and frequently covers her songs live such as "Love Takes Time" when she was in American Idol, she couldn't sing Mariah songs but got around it by singing the same covers as her such as "Without You," "Open Arms" and "Don't Play That Song."

"I grew up listening to her and I love her and I love her new CD ["The Emancipation of Mimi"]."

In reply to the question, "Everyone has posters on their bedroom walls growing up, who was on your bedroom wall?" Kelly said, "Oh, I had Mariah Carey, Reba McEntire, Aerosmith, Guns N' Roses, had a bunch. I had a lot of Mariah Carey though." (Total Request Live interview)

At Zootopia 2003 Concert where they were both performing, Randy Jackson shoved her into a room with Mariah against her will (Kelly was too nervous). And Kelly told Mariah (accidentally) "Oh my God, I think I'm going to throw up!" She said Mariah laughed at her and was nice about it. Evidently, Kelly really vividly remembers that meeting, because she tells that story every time Mariah is brought up. (Interview with Ryan Seacrest, KISS 102.7)

Beyonce Knowles: "'Vision of Love,' when I first heard that song, I knew it, my mind was made up - I had to be a singer."

Kelly Rowland: "Mariah Carey is another hero of mine. I remember meeting her and how nice she was, and how I recently saw her, and she was telling me about stole and how she loved the video. And I literally, my mouth was open! I'm 22 years old and I mean at some point you just can't help but get a little star struck, and Mariah is just so incredible! I remember listening to "Dreamlover" when it first came out, and me trying to cut my shorts like hers, and have little plat shirts and show some belly like her! And oh my gosh, I love her! Love her!! She is a very incredible human being!! Listening to her voice just made me want to try even more with my vocals, cos she can do anything with her voice. Her voice is just like the ultimate instrument! She can hit high notes and her bottom voice is just so big and it's beautiful! There's no singer on this earth that can do what Mariah does!!!"

Nivea: "Mariah Carey. She has been my main inspiration." (Teen Scene Magazine)

"I was watching 'The Arsenio Hall Show,' and Mariah was performing 'Vision of Love,'" the singer recalls. "The way she projected her voice, she just had so much power. I knew then that I wanted to make people feel the way she made me feel. I bought all her albums and learned all the songs. That's all I would do all day long sing Mariah Carey songs..." (Yahoo! Music Interview)

Melody Thorton, Pussycat Dolls: "My first album was Mariah Carey's "MTV Unplugged" and I still listen to it on a regular, to this day. (And you played it the other day. Over and over.) All the time. I met Mariah and she was great and I really, really, like it's amazing when you meet someone with that much like (charisma), yeah. She's done this before. She's like blah-blah-blah talking to me and then I was like just couldn't talk and when she left us I was like crying for an hour. It was crazy. It was great! She said, 'Don't mess up my body make-up.' That's what she said!" (AOL Music Sessions)

"Some girls have said, 'It's my dream to be in a pop group,' and I'm like, 'OK, because I want to be Mariah Carey.'" (Blender)

Lucie Silvas: "I was obsessed. I remember the moment I first heard Vision of Love, then I saw this white girl with a black voice on television, and everything about her bowled me over. You could relate to her and yet she was a magical icon, and throughout my school days all I dreamed of was being like Mariah Carey. She sang with a gospel choir around her, which was always my dream. I just wanted to be her." (Guardian Unlimited)

Britney Spears: "Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston were my biggest influences. Madonna and Janet were too. I love their style (Mariah & Whitney) and the way their voices electrify you."

"When I was little Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and I love listening to Michael Jackson...Yeah, I've always loved Mariah Carey, I guess because she writes her music, most of her music, and because she comes up with the BEST melodies. Her range is just from here to there, and she's probably my role model."

Anastacia: "From her very first album till now her voice has been absolutely glorious to listen to. I am affected by every note she hits, which is practically every note on the keyboard."

"You know later in life I was inspired to sing and that would've been Aretha, Chaka Khan, Mariah - the typical divas were the inspiration. I've always enjoyed all those singers."

Singer Anastacia told Dope Music Magazine in Sydney that one of the most intimidating performances of her career was at the United We Stand concert in 2002, with Michael Jackson and Mariah: "Before it, I was so nervous. I was sweating like a pig, seriously. The thought of singing with Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey at the same time was indescribable. I never imagined singing with my life time idols".

Christina Aguilera: In the early stages of her career, Aguilera often cited Mariah as a source of inspiration. "I discovered Mariah in my room one day listening to the radio, and as soon as 'Vision of Love' came on, I ran downstairs going, 'Mommy, Mommy' - I just found the greatest person in the world! I just heard the greatest new voice!

Jessica Simpson: Jessica has cited Mariah as a source of inspiration, and after seeing her perform "We Belong Together" at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, she can be seen mouthing "I love her!"

Mya: "Wow! That rings a bell - 'Mya and Mariah' that would be nice, she's one of my influences as well. Anything is possible. She has a beautiful voice."

Bethany Joy Galeotti ("One Tree Hill"): "I wrote my first song when I was maybe like four years old. I was always wandering around the house making things up. Back then, I learned a lot about singing from listening to Mariah Carey. I would sing to her [albums] and try and get all her riffs and stuff. I would be in my room for hours until I could get it right, it helps being an only child because I didn't have anything else to do!" (IMDb)

MISCELLANEOUS

Celine Dion: Despite rumors of rivalry between the two around the time of Divas Live in 1998, Celine has reportedly commented on Mariah when asked if she would ever duet with her and said something along the lines of "If Mariah was to ask me to duet with her, I will travel immediately 20000 km in order to sing with her for sure!"

Christina Aguilera: "I'm presenting actually, right after she performs. So we were getting, we just did the rehearsal for it, and she just walked by me. I'm like OMG! it's her! I don't think I get starstruck with anyone the way I do with Mariah. I'm still waiting to meet her. I hope...When you interview her, tell her Christina Aguilera thinks she's amazing. She looks amazing..." (Interview with Chris Connelly of MTV News)

Gloria Estefan: Gloria once commented on Mariah saying that it was okay she was cut out of the press photo for Divas Live, because they "had to make room for Mariah's hair."

Keisha Cole: "At the end of the day, I feel blessed to be named with the names in my category, like Mariah."

Missy Elliot: "Mariah, she listens to RAP. She's just straight up cool."

"I remember, when my manager asked me to work with Mariah. I thought I would faint immediately. I mean, the legendary Mariah Carey wanted me to rap on her CD? I was shocked, excited, honored and happy."

IDJ Chairman L.A. Reid hosted a listening party for Mariah's new album Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel (in stores Sept. 15th) earlier today in New York and Essence magazine was there live-tweeting from the scene.

Getting another early listen at Mariah Carey's new album with LA Reid

The Dream, Tricky and Mariah wrote everything on the album...nice.

first four Mariah songs sound like hits to us... loving "H.A.T.E.U."

Okay, Mariah's so long song "Standing Ovation" sounds very Ne-Yoish

The Dream is feeling "Ribbon"...

OMG... Mariah does Journey's "I Wanna Know What Li... oops... "i wanna know what love is" and it sounds AMAZING

Naz just corrected me, that's Foreigner's song but Mariah put her foot it in

From the Twitter posts above, we get a confirmation of Mariah's cover of Foreigner's "I Want To Know What Love Is" which was first reported by the New York Post in April 2009; and a new song title "Standing Ovation."

MARIAH CAREY is set to gamble on a Las Vegas residency, according to Internet reports.
The singer is in secret talks to stage a series of shows at the Palms Casino Resort's Pearl theatre in September and October (09).
If the gigs go ahead, she'll be the latest in a long line of divas to hit Sin City for a fixed set of shows - Celine Dion, Cher, Bette Midler and Toni Braxton have all performed lengthy residencies there in the past decade.

As that article says, it will be a residency, ala Celine Dion, which will engage her months at a time

The Monetization of Mimi: Mariah CD to Have Ads

As music sales continue to drop like they're not so hot throughout the industry, Island Def Jam Music Group is jamming on a new business model: integrating brands into artists' CD booklets.

The first deal, created for the Mariah Carey release Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel on Sept. 15, is a 34-page co-production with Elle magazine that includes lifestyle ads from Elizabeth Arden, Angel Champagne, Carmen Steffens, Le Métier de Beauté and the Bahamas Board of Tourism. Providing the experiment goes well, the label is eyeing bigger brand deals for booklets of CDs by Rihanna, Bon Jovi, Kanye West and other artists.

The mini magazine contains Mariah-centric editorial ("VIP Access to Her Sexy Love Life," "Amazing Closet," "Recording Rituals") and lifestyle advertising along with lyrics and other CD booklet elements. Elle contributed the editorial and designed the layout.

The booklets were created for the first run of U.S. CDs (1 million) and the first 500,000 overseas, said Jeff Straughn, svp-strategic marketing for Island Def Jam Music Group. It will also be available in a digital format for those who buy music online. A condensed version of the Mariah mag, sans the 14 pages of CD-specific material, will be inserted into 500,000 subscription copies of Elle's October issue, which arrives mid-September.

"The idea was really simple thinking: 'We sell millions of records, so you should advertise with us,'" said Antonio "L.A." Reid, chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group, a unit of Universal Music Group. "My artists have substantial circulation—when you sell 2 million, 5 million, 8 million, that's a lot of eyeballs. Most magazines aren't as successful as those records."

Carey was "very open" to the concept when Reid showed her a mock-up of the booklet in a magazine format that included brand imagery synonymous with her lifestyle. "I wouldn't want to do Mariah Carey and Comet abrasive cleaner," Reid said, laughing. "I wanted things that really reflected her taste."

Reid said the program was unprecedented. Terry Dry, president of Los Angeles-based digital-word-of-mouth marketing agency Fanscape, agreed, saying that the CD booklet advertising is a first, though he wouldn't be surprised if more labels look into doing the same thing: "Hollywood Records [Disney], I know they love to monetize all over the place for something like a Jonas Brothers record. Open any rap record and a couple of inserts will come flying out, usually for a business the artist is a part of. I wouldn't be surprised if 50 Cent had a Vitaminwater thing."

Labels are looking for ways to eke out extra bucks, borrow equity and cut costs anywhere they can today. Year-to-date album sales were down 13.9 percent for the week ending July 19, 2009, compared with the period last year, according to Nielsen SoundScan (227 million units vs. 195.5 million units). Of those 2009 sales, 18.9 percent, or 41.9 million, were digital.

Ad revenues are subsidizing 100 percent of Island Records' costs for the Carey booklet, but label execs also see the alliance as a way to expand distribution at a time when the local music store is becoming as rare as the Beatles' Yesterday and Today LP with the "Butcher" cover.

"We don't have music retailers any more, so a smart consumer products company that understands the value in distributing music is going to restore the vitality of our business," Reid speculated. "If we distribute music properly and if it's done tastefully, it could be a huge profit center for all of us. That is the missing link—we need partnerships."

To underscore the point: At one large retail establishment, partner Elizabeth Arden is allowing the label to cross-promote the release. The CD Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel will be merchandised directly outside Walmart's music aisle with Carey's new signature Arden fragrance, Forever, which has its ad on the booklet's back cover. The CD and scent will also be displayed together in the beauty department.

On the Wendy Williams Show, someone in the audience said that Mariah should stop the feud with Feminem and practice performing live because of her performance at the Michael Jackson memorial.

It would be good, if she goes on tour soon to prove that she still has "it".

Hong Kong was lucky enough to have a listening event for Mariah Carey’s forthcoming album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.

The preview was of only six tracks & was held at Universal Hong Kong for regional marketing staff and media:

‘Obsessed’ - Everyone knows this track…

‘Candy Bling’ - Mariah’s slowest jam to date, I can’t quite think of a song to compare it to…….. *scratches head…..*

‘Standing O’ - Very Mary J. Blige imo, ‘Standing O-O-O-O-O…..’ Another urban/r&b type song.

‘H-A-T-E-U’ - Much much better than the demo leaked, but the overall melody and production is the same and the baby sound is still there.

‘Impossible’ - Another slow ballad…. very Blackstreet… Jodeci references in the lyrics…

‘I Want To Know What Love Is’ - It’s got that whole TTR vibe… breathy 1st chorus, then it’s bring on the choir, but it’s not OTT, alot better than Tina Arena’s rendition imo. But I don’t think it’s gonna have the same impact as ‘Without You’… but who knows…

I didn’t hear any pop songs or upbeat songs as such, didn’t get to hear the Timbaland produced track, nor the other demo. Mariah sings alot in her lower register and the songs above highlight that alot. Although I didn’t hear imo an ‘instant hit’ e.g. WBT (they might be saving those biggies for later)

….Overall, we have a very exciting album that’s coming, the songs I’ve heard have a mid-late 90’s feel to them, this is not neccessarily a bad thing as songs back then were the sh!tz, I’ve got a feeling M.O.A.I.A. will be pure quality.

The Dream was interviewed by The Voice newspaper. Below is an abstract relating to Mariah Carey:

This is what he thinks about Mariah singing live now etc:Quote:
Having myself been treated to a preview listening of Carey’s new album, Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel last week, it’s fair to say the songstress remains on point on record. But following her widely criticised rendition at Michael Jackson’s memorial service last month, enquiring minds want to know: can Mimi still cut it live?

“Of course she can,” The Dream enthuses. “She moves around a lot and when your schedule’s like that, it’s not easy. We barely even had time to get in the studio as much as we did because both of our schedules were crazy. I don’t know how she sings as well as she does, considering how much she moves around.”

Granted, many artists will testify that the rigmarole of constant travelling can play havoc with the body, particularly the vocal chords. But it would be a lie to say that countless audiences weren’t left shocked by Carey’s performance at the king of pop’s memorial – and during her rendition on X Factor last year – as the usually powerhouse vocalist seemed to struggle to get her notes out. Surely a hectic schedule shouldn’t be enough to affect a veteran artist like Carey?

“Some veteran artists will sing, but they’re not getting on planes and jetting from place to place all the time,” Dream reiterates. “Those things make a real difference. She [Mariah] moves around as much as a 20-year-old does. She’s always on the go.”

Fans who requested tickets to Mariah Carey's August 28th performance on the Today show received an email today (see above) stating that Mimoo cancelled on NBC and has been replaced with Miley Cyrus!!!

Not a good sign! Especially with a new album supposedly coming out next month!

To add insult to injury, Carey is also noticeably absent from the list of performers at this year's MTV VMA's!

The songstress was originally scheduled to perform at the September awards in NYC, but Mariah's name has been left off the latest press release!

What gives????

In the US, Mariah continues to outsell other veteran females like Celine, Janet, and Madonna and like the person above me stated, "Celebration" isn't doing too well so MOAIA should have no problem outselling Celebration in the two ladies' home country.

Her album has gotten pushed back, all her appearnances have been cancelled, and now, Mariah Carey's Vegas show isn't stirring up as much buzz as everyone would have hoped.

Tickets are still available for her OPENING NIGHT at the Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort, where she is supposed to have a residency in September.

And the theater is only 2,500 seats!

GOOD seats are still available!

Maybe she isn't really as popular as they claim her to be?

Sad times for MiMi.

From People Magazine:

Why Is Mariah Carey Cancelling Events?

Reports that Mariah Carey has rescheduled several upcoming appearances has left many fans wondering if something might be wrong with the singer.

Carey, 40, had been tentatively set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Aug. 25, perform on Today Aug. 28, and also tape an episode of VH1’s Storytellers.

But the singer’s publicist Cindi Berger tells PEOPLE there is no reason for concern: “These dates have been postponed and not cancelled,” she said Friday.

A source says the singer is completing her new album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, the release of which has been pushed to Sept. 29.

“Record release dates change all the time,” Berger confirms. “It’s nothing unusual and it doesn’t signal anything. There are a lot of moving parts to Mariah’s professional life … She’s making sure the record is how she wants it to be and its no big deal.”

In addition to working on her album, Carey is launching another perfume line and promoting her upcoming film, Precious, which is produced by Oprah Winfrey and opens in November.

The reason for the calendar re-jiggering is explained further on Carey’s official Website: “Mariah is putting the finishing touches on her newest album, and we have shifted all of our TV and promo appearances to coincide with the new release date of September 29th. We can’t wait for the fans to hear the new album!!”

Mariah Carey–despite idiotic postings elsewhere–is gearing up for her big new CD release.

Mariah feels so strongly about "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" that she's even re-hired the PR powerhouse that made her second-stage career such a success. She's back with Cindi Berger of PMK HBH. It was Berger who made her "Emancipation of Mimi" the biggest hit of Mariah's career. Smart move.

Of course, that means both Mariah and Whitney Houston are now being repped by the same PR company. PMK's Kristen Foster is handling Whitney with my old pal, Jill Fritzo.

"Memoirs" was scheduled for an August 25th release, then moved to September 15th. Now it's set for September 29th. If the regular Grammy deadline had been in place–September 30th–Mariah would have made it. But the unfortunate early deadline of August 31st cut her off. So she has some slack time to get "Memoirs" just right.

The first single from Mariah's CD will not be "Obsessed"–that was just a summer trifle, and it was a lot of fun. The real first official single is said to be a powerhouse ballad along the lines of "Vision of Love."

Mariah Carey The Perfectionist

AMERICA’S GOT TALENT judge PIERS MORGAN was left exhausted after MARIAH CAREY’s guest appearance on the show - because the singer forced production staff to work around the clock to make sure her “three-minute” appearance was perfect.

Earlier this month (Aug09) the pop superstar appeared on stage during an episode of the hit TV show, which is hosted by her husband Nick Cannon, to belt out her new single Obsessed.
Carey wowed the judging panel - which also includes David Hasselhoff and Sharon Osbourne - with her pre-recorded performance.

But Morgan admits the spectacular rendition came at a price, because Carey had to make sure every tiny detail was perfect before she would let TV bosses air the footage.

She says, “She’s such a perfectionist. We were all in the studio until nearly midnight as she planned her three-minute appearance, right down to the detail of the lighting, sound and camera angles. And work with producers in the editing suite apparently continued to 6am until she was absolutely happy. Mariah has the reputation of a diva. But like most divas - from Piaf to Whitney Houston to Madonna - that’s primarily because she’ll do whatever it takes, however long it takes, to get things as good as they can be.”

L.A. Reid Unveils Mariah's Memoirs Album

Earlier this week, L.A. Reid held an exclusive album listening event with various members of the press for Mariah Carey's upcoming Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel album, due out on Island Records in late September. The room listened attentively to the tracks that were previewed in L.A.'s candle-lit corner office.

After the album's prelude, Memoirs leads off with MC's first single "Obsessed," which has already reached #1 on BET's "106 & Park" countdown show. But the song is followed by a powerful blend of uptempo dance tracks, mid-tempo R&B jams and heartfelt ballads.

L.A. Reid confirmed that Mariah's second single will be the remake of Foreigner's classic "I Wanna Know What Love Is," where Mariah exercises her vocal range. On other songs, Carey continues to show off her unique talents, singing her heart out on "Angels Cry" and "Ribbon."

Written and produced entirely by Mariah, Tricky and The-Dream, the album's strongest selling point is its musical consistency. The tracks seem to flow into each other nicely, and as usual, Mariah has more than enough potential singles. The writing on songs like "Standing O" will keep all-time Mariah fans happy, while a younger audience will appreciate the down-to-earth rawness of songs like "Up Out My Face" and "It's A Wrap."

For most of the album, Mariah is belting out notes that only she can hit, and by the end of the session, the entire room was applauding her efforts. L.A. thanked the attendees for their time, before insisting that the album was what he believed to be a "classic" ("and I don't say that too often," he said).

Oh God! Oh God! Yes! Yes! Yessssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazon.com editorial review of MOAIA!!! :o  :o

Imperfections are in the eye of the beholder. You can see them as flaws, or as the very qualities that make us human -- and that make us strive to be better people in search of a perfection that we know we can never fully achieve. In the thirteen songs on her spellbinding new album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, Mariah Carey explores those aspects of our shared humanity with a rare depth, honesty and open-heartedness. It's one of the strongest statements in her long, distinguished career.

The subject of Memoirs is love at all its stages in our lives. Experiencing it for the first time. Losing it. Remembering its most painful moments, and also its times of greatest innocence and joy. Yearning for it. Learning from it. Growing as a result of its profound power. Finding it again and being grateful for so great a gift. And, finally, being humbled, filled with wonder and elevated by love's mysterious ways. In that sense and more, Memoirs is a full, immensely satisfying journey.

"Each song is like an intimate conversation or entry in a private diary," Carey says about the album. "A lot of the songs reflect specific, different times in my life. Others were inspired by movies, actual events that happened to me, or the stories of friends who told me about experiences that they've gone through." With just one exception, Carey wrote and produced the entire album in collaboration with The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. The trio clearly shared an inspired sense of what Memoirs should be. Sinuous grooves and instantly memorable melodies flow from track to track, while the wit and intimacy of the lyrics create the feel of one friend talking to another. As well-defined as each song is, Memoirs plays with the beauty and consistency of a classic, start-to-finish album.

"My main goal was to work with people I could collaborate with without it seeming redundant or stale," Carey says. "In my opinion Tricky is one of the most underrated major producers out there right now. I really enjoyed collaborating with him. And I especially liked writing with The-Dream, basically because we both love having fun with lyrics and melodies, and we're also capable of getting more serious on deeper songs. There is a particular sense of freedom I feel when we write together -- even though I make him stay in the studio all night until he is ready to kill me! LOL!"

Memoirs' first single is the hard-hitting "Obsessed," which is accompanied by a video directed by Brett Ratner (the Rush Hour trilogy) in which Carey plays both the glamorous star and her stalker fan. Like the video, the song's lyrics combine devastating putdowns ("Last man on the Earth still couldn't get this") with humor ("See right through you like you're bathin' in Windex"). The no-nonsense "Up Out My Face" captures a similar caustic mood, dismissing a former lover with the send-off, "When I break, I break, boy." "It's a Wrap" delivers a similar message about the end of an affair: "When it's gone, it's gone." "Standing O," with its irresistible chorus, sardonically applauds a faithless ex for his signature achievement: "You played the one that loved you the most." "Betcha Gon' Know" foresees karmic revenge for a wayward lover, but, once again, the clever lyrics ("Oprah Winfrey whole segment for real, for real / 20/20 Barbara Walters for real, for real") encourage a smile amid the pain.

The ballad "H.A.T.E.U.," meanwhile, finds the singer seeing life in the wake of a breakup and longing for the moment when loss and regret transform into a cleansing anger. But the title of the song doesn't necessarily stand for what you think it might. "H.A.T.E.U. is the first song I wrote for the album," Carey says, "and it stands for Having A Typical Emotional Upset."

Always a brilliant technical singer with an extraordinary vocal range, Carey rises to new heights on that track. "I sing a recurring melody in the upper register of my voice; it's not an ad-lib, but an integral part of the song's hook," she says. "That's not something I've done before, and when listening back to it, it reminded me of how Minnie Riperton used her upper register on her hit song `Lovin' You.' I thought how ironic that her song was called `Lovin' You' and my song is called, `H.A.T.E.U.' - and both use that upper `whistle register' as a major part of the melody. So it's sort of an homage to Minnie Riperton, a tribute to her since she has been so influential in my singing style."

On a tender note, the wistful "Candy Bling" beautifully evokes the blissful realm of young love ("Anklets, name plates that you gave to me/Sweet tarts, ring pops had that candy bling/And you were my world"), while "Inseparable" aches for a love that went wrong for reasons that seem impossible to comprehend. "More Than Just Friends" floats off into a fantasy of what a casual relationship might become ("Permanently paint me in your picture like Picasso/Love me down till I hit the top of my soprano!"). "Ribbon" and "The Impossible" swoon with happiness and thankfulness over redemptive love that has returned to make life rich again. "You did the impossible," Carey sings. "You rescued my love."

Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel ends with a spectacularly powerful gospel rendition of Foreigner's gorgeous ballad, "I Want to Know What Love Is." Carey's voice soars into the heavens as a soul-stirring choir makes it clear that the search for love is the closest that any human being ever gets to the divine.

Which brings us back to the angel of the album's title. "I had written a song called `Imperfect,'" Carey says, "but it didn't make it onto the album. The lyrics of that song address the fact that the world puts so much pressure on us -- especially on women -- to be perfect and look a certain way, and that is impossible because nobody is perfect. Only God is perfect. I know I've tried to be a good person, but I am definitely no angel!"

"But after I put this album together and decided to name it Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," she concludes, "I remembered that the Minnie Riperton album that contained `Lovin' You' was called Perfect Angel. So I felt in so many ways that it was meant to be."

EW: Mariah is Amazing in Precious

EW's OscarWatchers Dave Karger and Missy Schwartz give a preview of the most anticipated movies at the Toronto International Film Festival (Sept. 10-19). Part I of their report is about the three female-driven standouts: Precious, Bright Star, and An Education which they say "will certainly have moviegoers buzzing at the Festival and over the next few months." In discussing Precious, they rave about Mariah's impressive performance in the film.

Dave Karger: You and I are also both very impressed with Mariah Carey's performance in this movie.
Missy Schwartz: I couldn't believe that I was looking at Mariah Carey. We're all aware of this superstar-larger-than-life-far-from-down-to-earth persona that she has and it couldn't be further from what we see in this movie. She has straggly hair. She wears ill-fitting frumpy clothes - Rayon, I guess.

DK: Native Rayon which she hated.
MS: I'm not surprised, I would hate them too. And I even detect a little, possibly, maybe it was bad angle, facial hair. It is so unflattering but she's so good and she works it. She plays a social worker who's working with this young, troubled teenager and she's amazing. I wanted to see more of her on screen.

Precious will screen during the Toronto International Film Festival at the following times: Sunday, Sept. 13, 9:30pm (Roy Thomson Hall) and Monday, Sept. 14, 12:30pm (Winter Garden Theatre).

Mariah Carey: The smitten newlywed on her new album

Mariah Carey has sold more than 160 million albums worldwide, and, if radio play for the first single on her new album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, is any indication, she's on the verge of racking up more No. 1 hits than the Beatles. But underneath the pop varnish, Carey's just a smitten newlywed in the middle of a home renovation, juggling a job and a new puppy. Sort of...

Congratulations on the album! Can you describe the new sound?
Each song is its own snapshot of a moment in a story. But overall, the vibe is R&B hip-hop with a lot of slow jams.

What kind of mood were you in when you wrote the album?
Each song has its own mood; some flow seamlessly into each other, and that was the purpose, and others are very different. The album has a sense of humor you can hear me laughing out loud at certain points but it also has deep and introspective moments.

Is there a track that holds special meaning for you?
Since I write almost all my songs, they all do. But a song like "The Impossible" is very much where my life is right now because I am actually in love for the first time.

Congratulations on celebrating your one-year wedding anniversary with Nick Cannon. How's married life?
Amazing, better every day.

How do you two spend your free time?
We travel a lot. I think we've been to over 35 cities already.

Did Nick weigh in on the album?
We tend to do our own thing, but I did like sharing the process of this album with him, as we have the same taste in music and he's a great DJ and loves music.

You just bought a house in L.A. What's it like?
It's a Georgian manor. We basically redid the entire thing, from the floors to landscaping to the closets, which are inspired by my New York apartment, with a men's and women's department store-esque feeling! Of course, I have the salon and Nick has a basketball court, which is his favorite place in the house. And I love having the outdoor space so the dogs can play. It's not too small; it's not too big; it's not a monstrosity. It's a home.

Are you permanently moving to L.A.?
No, I'm bicoastal and always have been. When I came to L.A., I just used to stay in hotels or rented homes.

You've been looking great lately. How do you stay in shape?
When I want to lose weight, I'll avoid carbs and anything fried. I eat mostly soups with protein, and drink lots of water and chamomile tea.

You love your Jack Russell terriers. How's your puppy, Cha-Cha?
She's adorable. Nick got her for me as a present, but she loves me the best! She sleeps in the bed with me when Nick goes to work. And she gets along with Jack Junior, aka JJ, my other dog. We want to breed them!

So, now that you're happily married and have completed yet another album, do you think you'll ever take a break?
I've been doing a lot of other interesting things, which I'm super excited about, like filming Precious. It's an incredible movie by Lee Daniels, inspired by the novel Push, written by Sapphire. I read it a long time ago, and it changed my life. Everyone should read it.

Forget for a moment that you're an international superstar. How would you describe yourself?
Hmmm... festive, emotional, creative, "artsy," a jokestress.

How often do you think about music? Is it always in your head?
Constantly! It has been ever since I can remember. I always have a song that's a melody I'm making up, or a song on the radio. Music is a constant for me and it always will be.

You've had so much success. Where would you like to be in 10 years?
I try to live in the moment. It says in the Bible, Matthew 6:34: "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

WHITNEY HOUSTON

Vocal acrobatics: 4/5. Still packs a mighty wallop, most notably on the skyscraping chorus of I Will Always Love You, though recent troubles may have dulled her vocal fire.
Elaborate outfits: 2/5. Never known for her style, she looks far from sexy on the cover of the new album, though it’s better than some of the tabloid shots during her lowest ebb.
Ridiculous demands: 3/5. Not so nutty really, though she did require an armoured car to take her on a tour of south-east Asia in 2004.
Rocky relationships: 5/5. Married to jailbird Bobby Brown from 1992 to 2007, their relationship was the subject of many drug rumours. He was charged with misdemeanour battery for allegedly striking her in 2003.
Quotability: 4/5. Most infamously: “We don’t do crack… Crack is wack.”
Fragrance: 0/5. None to date.
New album: I Look to You, released 19 October on Arista.

SHAKIRA

Vocal acrobatics: 3/5. More of a semi-yodel than the full hairdryer effect.
Elaborate outfits: 4/5. Not a big fan of clothes. Favours leotards in her latest video. Midriff exposed whatever the weather.
Ridiculous demands: 2/5. “Six bananas, five peaches and three mangoes” were required before one gig.
Rocky relationships: 2/5. Engaged forever to Antonio de la Rúa, son of the former president of Argentina. Almost certainly the only diva to count a Nobel Prize-winning author among her biggest fans, Gabriel Garcia Márquez.
Quotability: 5/5. Who could forget Whenever, Wherever’s classic couplet: “Lucky that my breasts are small and humble/So you don’t confuse them with mountains”?
Fragrance: 4/5. Amuleto, which reflects “an ethnic mixture of her soul and Latin sensuality, with exotic Arabian passion”.
New album: She Wolf, released 12 October on RCA.

LEONA LEWIS

Vocal acrobatics: 4/5. So far ahead of her X Factor competitors it was embarrassing.
Elaborate outfits: 2/5. Every day’s a wedding day for Leona. It’s one posh gown after another.
Ridiculous demands: 1/5. “I don’t need anything special to be happy. I have everything I need,” she says. Boring!
Rocky relationships: 1/5. Boyfriend Lou Al-Chamaa is an electrician from Hackney she has known since she was 10.
Quotability: 1/5. “I’m not a loud, extravagant person. I’m never going to be that.” As bland as a professional golfer.
Fragrance: 3/5. Leona Lewis, an ethical perfume including blood orange, “passion-filled musk” and “bewildering currant”.
New album: Echo, released 16 November on Sony.

MARIAH CAREY

Vocal acrobatics: 5/5. A five-octave range. That’s a lot of notes.
Elaborate outfits: 3/5. Favours the leggy and busty, or simply a strategically placed hat on the Touch My Body single sleeve.
Ridiculous demands: 4/5. Ferries her Jack Russell around by chauffeur-driven Mercedes, though the believable notion that she “doesn’t do stairs” is sadly a myth.
Rocky relationships: 4/5. Side Effects, a song about her marriage to Tommy Mottola, mentions “violent times”.
Quotability: 4/5. “Butterflies follow me wherever I go.”
Fragrance: 5/5. M, combining incense, tiara flower and marshmallow, “embodies Mariah’s sensuality, beauty and glamour”.
New album: Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, released 28 September on Mercury.

I noticed that too. I didn't actually realise she was mixed until I became a big fan in 2006 and did research and watched lots of interviews.

RANDOM: I know everyone knows Beyoncé's skin colour, but does anyone else think she sometimes looks white in some pics? And then in others it's like, REALLY dark. :hide:

BOTH are bonafide divas. Both are celebrated for their superb vocal skills. Both have experienced phenomenal career success – and equally phenomenal falls from grace. And now, both Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey are preparing to release new albums. With this in mind, we decided to put the question out there: which artist is truly the best?
WHITNEY’S STORY…

Whitney’s career was launched in 1985 with the release of her self-tiled debut album. It spawned the hits Saving All My Love For You and The Greatest Love of All.

Her second studio album Whitney, released in 1987, became the first album by a female artist to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

She married R’n’B singer Bobby Brown in 1992 and one year later, gave birth to the couple’s daughter Bobbi Kristina.

She took on her first major acting role in the 1992 hit film, The Bodyguard. The soundtrack featured her smash hit, I Will Always Love You, which became one of the biggest selling singles in music history.
After spending the early ‘90s concentrating on films (The Bodyguard, Waiting to Exhale, The Preacher’s Wife), Whitney made a grand return to music with her 1998 album, My Love Is Your Love.
Her reputation took a turn for the worse in the early noughties when her drastic weight loss and disheveled image sparked rumours of drug abuse.

In 2002, Houston did an interview with Diane Sawyer, in which she discussed the rumoured drug use. In the interview, she denied taking cocaine, saying: “First of all, let’s get one thing straight. Crack is cheap. I make too much money to ever smoke crack. Let’s get that straight. Okay? We don’t do crack. We don’t do that. Crack is wack.”

In 2004, Whitney was seen at what many considered to be her lowest ebb, when she appeared in husband Bobby’s reality TV show, Being Bobby Brown. One of the show’s infamous scenes showed the couple recalling a time when Bobby helped his constipated wife go to the bathroom.

After years of controversy, Whitney and Bobby separated in 2006 and divorced the following year.
This year marks the release of Whitney’s hugely anticipated new album, I Look To You, which is released in the UK on October 19. This July, the album got its UK launch at London’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel, and Whitney looked back to her glamorous best when she made a surprise appearance at the event.

MARIAH’S STORY…

Mariah’s career began under the guidance of record exec Tommy Mottola, with the 1990 release of her self-titled debut album. It spawned the hit, Vision of Love, which earned her a Grammy award for best female pop vocal performance.

After becoming romantically involved with Tommy Mottola, the pair married in 1993.
In 1997, Mariah and Tommy split – and so Mariah’s new image was born. Her 1997 album Butterfly spawned the number one singe Honey, which marked the beginning of a racier image and a more hip-hop-driven sound. This sound was solidified on her next album, Butterfly, released in 1999.

In July 2001, it was widely reported that Mariah had suffered a physical and emotional breakdown. By the end of the month, she had checked into a hospital. Further tough times were to come that year when her semi-autobiographical film Glitter was panned by critics and was a box office flop.
In 2002, she released the album Charmbracelet, which was widely panned by critics.

In 2005, Mariah made a phenomenal comeback with the album, The Emancipation of Mimi, which became the best-selling album of that year in the US.

The single Touch My Body from her 2008 album E=MC2 became Carey’s 18th number one single on the Hot 100 chart, which pushed her into second place for the most number one singles among artists in the rock era. (The Beatles are in first place with 21 number ones).

In 2008, Mariah married her “soulmate”, actor/presenter, Nick Cannon. The relationship seemed to give Mariah a renewed sense of happiness.

This year, her vocals came under fire when she performed at Michael Jackson’s memorial service, with critics noting that her voice sounded strained.

Her single Obsessed – the lead track from her upcoming album Memoirs Of A Perfect Angel – was reportedly an Eminem diss track. It saw Mariah calling the rapper “delusional” for continually claiming he once had a relationship with her. The album gets its UK release on September 28.

UK Music Site Gigwise includes Mariah’s 2002 album Charmbraclet in their list of the “50 Worst Albums of the decade”:

24. Mariah Carey: ‘Charmbracelet’ (2002) – The warbling diva surpassed even her lowly standards with this 2002 release. If any album on this countdown is intolerable enough to make you gnaw your knuckles hard enough to draw blood, then it’s this musical nightmare. Worse still, acts like Jay-Z and Jadakiss soiled their names by co-writing and performing on tracks on the album.

The list, which also features the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Kevin Federline, Victoria Beckham and the Crazy Frog, is topped by Katie Price and Peter Andre’s duets album “A Whole New World.”

"Mariah Carey Redeems Herself"

Perhaps one of the most surprising performances at this year’s TIFF comes from someone most critics had written off as a person who should stick to singing or anything that doesn’t involve acting. Mariah Carey’s work in Glitter was a career killer; a performance so bad one critic wrote it made her “physically uncomfortable” to watch Mariah on the screen. At this year’s fest, however, she’s redeemed herself with a decidedly non-glittery role in the gritty drama Precious. It’s a powerful performance that is being mentioned in the same breath as Oscar.

If Mariah earns an Academy Award nod, she’ll join the exclusive club of musicians who successfully traverse the gap between music and movies.

As a rapper, comedian, TV show host, and Nickelodeon corporate honcho, Nick Cannon knows how to talk a good game, but he still had a hard time convincing the world that he would someday marry his celebrity crush, Mariah Carey. So when the singer cast Cannon (out of the blue!) as her boyfriend in a music video, he wasted no time sweet-talking every guy's fantasy into his reality. Just after the couple's one-year wedding anniversary, Cannon tells us about their love story.

How did you know that Mariah was "the one"?
We had a meeting about the video shoot at the Beverly Hills Hotel, and I ordered french fries. I always say grace over my food–coming from a family of ministers, it's the way I was raised–so I said, "Can you excuse me for a minute?" and bowed my head. She said, "You ain¹t gonna pray over my food, too?! I do the same thing!" A lot of people say they're spiritual 'cause it seems like the right thing, but then she pulled an electronic Bible out of her purse. I never meet anyone in the business that¹s on the same level as I am spiritually, so that was the first thing that opened my eyes to, Whoa, this could be something unique. We spent the next weekend together, but it felt more like a getaway than a video shoot. It was also her... well, she doesn't have birthdays; she has, like, anniversaries of her twelfth birthday, so we had that "celebration," and all weekend we were like, "You too?! No way–get outta here!"

Speaking of birthdays: How does the 11-year age difference play into the attraction?
People have always said I have an old soul, and all my best friends are 10 to 15 years my senior. I needed someone who could understand where my head was. A lot of the girls my age were impressed by silly stuff like money and fame. I wanted to be able to have intellectual and spiritual conversations with someone who was on the same page as me. But Mariah and I connect on a lot of different levels. We know how to be well-spoken and carry ourselves in a very mature manner, when need be. Mariah's been doing that all of her life, and so have I, so we value and appreciate those opportunities when we can act like adolescents. We run companies; we can be very business-savvy; but at the end of the day, we also like to be fun-loving kids. We have that eternal-youth thing going on.

I read that during the video shoot for "Bye Bye," you would pass her little notes and give her candy, and you proposed with a candy ring. Do you still make romantic gestures like that?
Absolutely! She really loves balloons, so I found a place that will put toys and messages inside, so you gotta pop the balloon to get them. Another thing: Ever since that first conversation about spirituality, I would e-mail her a daily encouragement that had a Bible verse and words of inspiration. I called them "Daily E's." After six months, she lost her BlackBerry, and she was so upset that she had lost them. She had no idea that I had been saving every last one of the Daily E's, so I had them published in a leather-bound book and gave it to her on our one-year anniversary.

Mariah is notorious for pulling all-nighters at the studio, and you're at the Nickelodeon office all day. How do you make time for each other?
It's crazy. She finished in the studio at around 7 a.m. this morning, just when I was waking up. We see each other in passing. So our favorite thing to do is to take two days and just shut everything down. We stay in bed, watch DVDs, listen to music, and eat junk food. You gotta always make sure that you always put that other person first. So even when you're at your job, you still have to put in the effort and have the mentality of, Yo, I'm doing all this to better the union that I¹ve created with this other person.

Do you have any nicknames for each another?
Everyone calls her Mimi or MC, but I call her Mariah. She calls me Peanuthead because my head's shaped like a peanut.

Do you ever get jealous and worry about all those other male fans who are saying–like you used to–that they want to marry Mariah Carey?
Nah. She's people's fantasy, and that's how it's supposed to be. And hey, I got people fantasizing about me, too!

You recently posted a very heated note to Eminem after he called Mariah names and poked fun at you in his new song. Were you defending your lady's honor?
I had to let it be known that I would never just sit quiet and let someone disrespect my wife like that. It wasn't no real beef or anything like that. He don't want it.

You've put out two rap albums. Have you and Mariah ever thought of making sweet music together?
I am not worthy to be on a Mariah Carey record. She's a true artist, so I just step back and watch the genius occur.

Do you sing to her at home?
I sing New Edition and Bobby Brown all off-key at the top of my lungs, and that's her alarm clock. My bad singing is the only thing that can wake her up: It's like smelling salts.

Have you and your wife talked about having kids of your own?
Our plan was to enjoy our first year together, and now we're in the stage of making sure everything is in order. Our schedules are so crazy; you don't want to say, "Okay, we'll have the baby on Thursday and then go on tour on Friday. "So we're making sure we can welcome a child into a very comfortable and livable situation."

You're a comedian, and Mariah has shown a funny streak with hilarious videos like "Touch My Body" (with 30 Rock's Jack McBrayer). Do you ever play practical jokes on each another?
All the time! It's Joke Central around here. A couple weeks ago at the balloon store, I bought this thing that looks like a fake paintbrush with dried paint on it. She has this priceless piano that used to belong to Marilyn Monroe, so I made it look like somebody put a wet paintbrush on top of it. She didn¹t find that too funny, but I thought it was hilarious!

You're a very stylish guy: You ran a fashion company, wore Balenciaga to your wedding, and are always photographed in fabulous suits at the office. Do you and Mariah ever talk fashion?
Mariah's fashion game is definitely on a different level than mine. She actually knows Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana. I didn't know those people actually existed I thought they were just names.

And there isn't a single imperfection to be found on Mariah's body in the digitally-manipulated shots.

Odd considering the title of the album she's promoting is Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel.

That said, the singer was on fine natural form at a screening of her new movie Precious in Toronto last night.

Clad in a black dress highlighting her actual boobs, Mariah proved she doesn't need computer geeks to make her look hot.

AP Review: Carey's 'Imperfect Angel' is perfect
Associated Press
By Mesfin Fedaku

Music Review: Carey's 'Imperfect Angel' is perfect
"I should crack you right in your forehead," Mariah Carey sings on the breakup tune "It's a Wrap."

The song, on her latest CD, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," finds a hungover Carey kicking her lover to the curb with particularly harsh words.

"Another early morning, and you walk in like it's nothing ... ain't no doughnuts, ain't coffee," she sings with attitude in her signature high-pitch tone. "Let me take a breath and regain my composure, told you more time, if you (expletive) up it's over."

But even though she's spitting venom, Carey's cooing on the doo-wop sounding song is so sensuous and sweet, even the song's intended target will remain under her spell – as will her listeners.

"Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" is an exceptional album that is about love – being in it, out of it, over it and trying to reach it. While the subjects are tried and true, they are never tired, thanks to Carey's approach, which mixes a good dose of humor and wit with her multi-octave voice.

"Betcha Gon' Know," the disc's opening track, sets the tone as Carey compares the seriousness of her broken heart to news programs like "60 Minutes," "20/20" and "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

Carey produced and wrote the majority of the album with Christopher "Tricky" Stewart and Terius "The-Dream" Nash – and those hitmakers add their own touch to "Imperfect Angel" without overdoing it.

"Ribbon," which bumps with southern flavor, is radio-friendly, showcasing The-Dream and Tricky's signature sound. As does "Standing O," with its addictive hook.

Other notables tunes include "H.A.T.E.U." ("Having a Typical Emotional Upset"), a beautiful heartbreak ballad, and the top-notch "Candy Bling," a teenage love affair tune that finds Carey so in love she "can't delete your picture from my mind."

Some of the tracks use samples: "Inseparable" interpolates Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" and "The Impossible" finds Carey "layin' in the bed bumpin' Jodeci." The latter samples the R&B group's hit song "Forever My Lady."

"Imperfect Angel," though helmed by The-Dream and Tricky, still maintains a classic Mariah sound – especially on the soothing "Angels Cry" and its accompanying prelude, and the personal "Languishing," highlighted by a piano.

No one is perfect – that's obvious. This CD is – that's obvious too.

CHECK THIS TRACK OUT: "It's a Wrap" joins tracks like "Vision of Love," "Always Be My Baby" and "We Belong Together" as a classic Mariah song.

Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (Island)
By Lauren Carter
Rating: B+

Singing is fun again! And so is Mariah. On her 12th studio album, Mimi gets a face-lift from urban music's current hit-king The-Dream and his sidekick Tricky. The duo's textured, often quirky brand of r & b has birthed some of the biggest hits in recent memory - Rihanna's "Umbrella" and Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" - but here they opt for a lighter touch. "Ribbon" and crunk-laced single "Obsessed" are the closest "Memoirs" comes to hip-hop; the remainder is a throwback mix of ballads and midtempo r & b mini-sagas that let Carey wander into whispers, purrs, high-octave whistles and full-throttle force (check out "It's a Wrap"). Sassy and occasionally ridiculous lyrics ("love you like a freeze pop") bring out a playful side that offsets the time Carey spends languishing in lost love territory. She's at her best when dismissing, not missing, that no-longer-special someone, as on the track to download, "Up Out My Face."

Mariah Carey, comedian? Jokes have never been Carey's forte, but on her 12th album, she gets in touch with her funny bone, adding a cheeky marching-band coda to the thumping club jam "Up Out My Face," threatening to out a cheating lover on national television in "Betcha Gon' Know" ("Oprah Winfrey whole segment, for real"); even poking fun at her own vocal signature, those stemware-shattering falsetto trills ("Love me down till I hit the top of my soprano," she coos in "More Than Just Friends"). The levity reflects the company Mariah is keeping: Every track on Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel was overseen by Carey and the ace duo of The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, who have been known to spice their dense, inventive R&B concoctions with yuks.

The result is Carey's most sonically and tonally coherent release, a mix of love ballads ("Inseparable") and sassy breakup anthems ("Standing O") that might have been her best album had it been several songs shorter. Memoirs sags in its second half, on songs such as the tepid "Impossible" and "Languishing (The Interlude)." By the time Carey's plodding cover of "I Want to Know What Love Is" rolls around, the joke's on her listeners.

About
By Bill Lamb
Rating: 4/5

Once upon a time it was the norm on major pop albums for an artist to work with one producer or team of producers throughout an entire album. However, in recent years it has become more common to create an album as a hodgepodge of sometimes mismatched tracks recorded with various producers. For Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, Mariah Carey has collaborated primarily with the team of The-Dream and "Tricky" Stewart for songwriting and producing throughout the entire album. The result is a unique, cohesive musical glimpse of the inner life of Mariah Carey.

Flights of Vocal Fancy
For fans of Mariah Carey, the quality of her singing and direction of her vocal arrangements are one of the first things looked for in a new album. As has become common since The Emancipation of Mimi, she spends most of her time singing in a midrange that eliminates much of the vocal acrobatics of earlier in her career. However, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel does insert enough moments of vocal fancy to keep most fans happy.

In the sad, painfully slow "H.A.T.E.U," Mariah Carey delivers one of the key refrains in a lower range narcotized vocal haze that serves to emphasize the song's message of the emotional torment of lovers being torn apart. "It's a Wrap" kicks off with classic ethereal Mariah Carey vocal runs followed by an impossibly high range note that has a sonic effect of a small comet zipping through the musical sky. Then there is the glorious vocal workout on "I Want To Know What Love Is" that closes the album. Mariah Carey fans will be standing and cheering.

It's Not So Much Fun Being Mariah Carey?
One of the key messages of Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is that, emotionally at least, it's not always a lot of fun being Mariah Carey. "Obsessed" details anger and anxiety at being stalked. "H.A.T.E.U." explores the emotional pain of being trapped in a relationship where the writing is on the wall. "Up Out My Face" presents anger at an incompatible lover. The album reaches its most painful moments in the elegant "Languishing" about being in a relationship with someone you still don't feel you know after many years. Mariah Carey is left wondering, "Would you reach for me if you saw that I was languishing?" A musical up side of all of this emotional pain is that the gospel catharsis of "I Want To Know What Love Is" is gloriously effective.

Top Tracks on 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel'
• "H.A.T.E.U."
• "It's a Wrap"
• "Up Out My Face"
• "I Want To Know What Love Is"

Solid Musical Statement
Mariah Carey set out on this album to explore her inner self and lay it bare in song. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is a solid, cohesive musical statement that works as that very rare thing in today's pop music world, a genuine concept album. Mariah Carey has clearly suffered her share of emotional pain, but she remains standing, and, in the performance of "I Want To Know What Love Is," it sounds like she is positively resolute about heading fearlessly into the future. The recording standards here are of a very high quality, and the songs grow in interest with repeated listening. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is a worthy addition to the Mariah Carey catalog.

Carey's Lip Synching Lets Down Her Fans In South Korea

By Han Sang-hee
Staff Reporter

Mariah Carey lip synched her songs at a popular Korean live music TV show, disappointing fans and raising a stir on the Internet.

The 39-year-old singer, who is visiting Seoul to promote her 12th album, appeared on ``You Hee-yeol's Sketchbook'' set, a popular live music show hosted by You, Tuesday evening.

From her recent album ``The Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel,'' she performed two tracks, ``I Want to Know What Love Is'' and ``H.A.T.E.U.,'' but instead of singing live as many anticipated, she lip synched both of them in front of an audience who packed the studio.

All performers on the program, which has been loved by many music fans, have made live performances until now.

Many fans who were present at the set expressed their disappointment through the program's Web site after the show.

``We are aware that she is an international star, but lip synching on a live show is unacceptable. The rumors that the sound equipment was not good enough just seem like an excuse,'' one blogger wrote.

Some viewers even demanded that the producer edit the lip synched footages of the singer.

``Viewers don't just want global stars. We want a program that sticks to its initial goals and characteristics. If the show is just interested in bringing in famous singer who even break their own rules, we have no interest in watching it,'' another blogger wrote.

The producer and the makers of the program were not available to comment on this issue, while Universal Music, which was in charge of Carey's promotion event, also avoided any specific explanations on the incident.

The show will air on KBS on Oct. 23.

Interview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7WUj5gJkzQ&feature=player_embedded#)

That's one way to make an entrance! Mariah Carey almost takes a tumble on chat show

Pop diva Mariah Carey almost lost her cool when she tripped onstage ahead of a US chat show appearance.

Instead of her trademark wiggle, the diva stumbled and tripped forward but managed to stay upright in her sky-high heels.

Showing off her ample cleavage in a figure-hugging black dress, the superstar laughed off the stumble as crowds cheered her at the Jay Leno Show.

The 'Obsessed' singer attempted to laugh off the embarrassing mishap, telling the audience: 'You know when I tripped, I had choreographed that earlier.
'It was a plan to make Jay nervous that he was going to get sued.

'This is what happened backstage, my strap came loose,' she said, pointing to a wobbly strap on her black stilettos.

'This is the cause of the whole thing.'

After she composed herself, she spoke about her wedding to comedian and TV host Nick Cannon, and gave the audience a demonstration on how to apply her new perfume, Forever.

Mariah said her notoriously bad time-keeping almost threw the wedding arrangements into chaos.

'We went to a house that we'd bought in the Bahamas and got married on the beach - of course I was late,' she said.

'I'm not always late, it's everyone else around me that slows me down.'

The actress and model ditched her usual glamourpuss style to play a social worker in new movie Precious.

Cannon said he's seen the film numerous times already, and he still gets weepy whenever he watches it.

He said: 'I didn't read the script, but the movie made me cry. I think it's, like, my fifth time. It gets better every time.'

Back in February, Mariah spoke to MTV News about the movie, gushing that she was 'just honoured to be a part of it'.

'It's really something that's so strong and different and I think that it's really going to enlighten a lot of people and help a lot of people.'

Mariah gets catty with diva demands (http://celebrity.aol.co.uk/2009/11/19/mariah-gets-catty-with-diva-demands/)

We're well aware that Mariah Carey has her diva moments. But she may just have learned that, in Britain at least, you can't always get what you want.

Due to turn on the Christmas lights at the Westfield shopping centre in West London, Mariah has come up with several attention-grabbing effects to ensure that all eyes are in fact, on her.

Many of her demands have already been met (though she did reportedly change her mind about the car six times).

The pink carpet, pink podium, a wand to 'wave' on the lights, the Rolls Royce and the butterfly shaped confetti... all fine, say the organisers.

But the 100 white doves and 20 white kittens?... not so easy. In fact, health and safety officials have insisted that it simply can't happen.

A source told the Daily Mail: "We did manage to source the doves that we were going to release into the sky, but the kittens proved terribly difficult.

"In the end, it was made clear that due to health and safety, there was no way we could have the animals at Westfield.

"We do not allow pets into Westfield – that rule would apply for everyone."

Exactly... let one person in with 20 white kittens and before you know it, they'll all be at it.

I posted in the album thread about Alan Carr but hey ho.

The interview was great, she was really charming and funny.

But COME ON the performance? She really struggled. She actually looked in pain at points. This song live does not sit well with her voice, its no surprise she is not happy singing it :(

=====

Megastar Mariah Carey is teaming up with Westlife again for an exclusive single. She told me the secret after I was the only journalist to be given an XS All Areas pass when the world's biggest selling female singer arrived in town this week.

In our eXSclusive chat she revealed she can't wait to work with Kian, Nicky, Mark and Shane again. Mariah said: "They're very exciting artists and I love them."

She last worked with the lads in 2000, and Against All Odds topped the charts. But this time the record will only be released in Britain. "I want it to be the next single here and different to the rest of the world," she said. "I can't wait to do it."

Mariah, 39, was in London to switch on the Christmas lights at the Westfield Shopping Centre. She invited me backstage for a chat, and I can tell you the 20 white kittens and 100 white doves that she'd been rumoured to have demanded were nowhere to be seen.

In fact, the diva's area was quite modest - she even had to use a portaloo while she signed autographs for hours (though it was a luxury one with pink walls and a heater).

"This diva tag is never going to go away but it doesn't bother me anymore," Mariah said. And setting the record straight she added: "I didn't ask for anything."

Mariah performs new single I Want To Know What Love Is on tonight's X Factor from new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.

Kate Garraway has been carpeted by GMTV bosses for unfairly slating Mariah Carey.

The show’s presenter not only got her facts wrong, but she was not even in the studios when the singer was interviewed by Lorraine Kelly. But Kate said in her magazine column that two minders carried Mariah into a chair to avoid creasing her dress and that she even brought her own loo roll.

Kate said: “I’ve heard rumours about her being a diva. Turns out it’s all true. While Mariah was nice, her entourage outnumbered the GMTV crew.”

But the claims were furiously denied by Mariah’s management and Kate, 42, has been ordered not to make that kind of mistake again.

Some GMTV staff fear her comments could affect their ability to get A-list guests on to their sofa in the mornings.

A source said: “What Kate claimed wasn’t true and it has caused big problems backstage.”

“The huge entourage was actually a choir and musicians used by Mariah. When stars come to be interviewed on GMTV they don’t expect this. Even worse, what Kate wrote wasn’t true.”

“Kate has been carpeted by bosses and told it cannot happen again. It looks bad for GMTV to be linked to these sort of comments about a guest.”

A source close to Kate added: “She was misinformed and is mortified by what has happened. She has apologised to Mariah and her bosses and will make amends in her column next week.”

Mariah Connection: Finally someone has done their job properly and apologised for the rude comments about Mariah! We can’t wait to see Kate’s apology next week! We won’t hold our breath for a similar apology from The Daily Mail, who have published nearly two weeks of utter rubbish & lies!

The Washington Post and Baltimore Sun review Mariah's show in Washington, D.C.

Press Reviews: Angels Advocate in Washington, D.C.
Music review: Mariah Carey sparkles at DAR Constitution Hall
By Chris Richards, Washington Post

The Mariah Carey songbook is thick with butterflies, rainbows and kisses that taste like honey -- not much doom and gloom. So when the pop icon visited DAR Constitution Hall on Wednesday, you'd never know she was limping through the darkest hours of her 20-year music career.

Carey is currently touring in support of September's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel," one of the lowest-selling albums in her platinum-spangled discography. The disc isn't horrendous. Its failure merely illustrates how the wretched economy can transform yesterday's invincible uber-star into today's music-biz casualty. Wednesday's modest Constitution Hall environs were also a considerable step down from the much-larger Verizon Center, where Carey made her last Washington appearance in 2006. And this gig didn't even sell out.

Cleverly then, the singer kick-started her 90-minute set with "Shake It Off," a strutting 2005 kiss-off that felt both cocky and carefree.

Delivered in the breathy coo that's become her trademark in recent years, Carey used her voice to quickly establish a casual intimacy with the audience, as if she were whispering the song's verses in the crowd's collective ear.

The audience replied with shouts, and screams of "I love you Mariah!!!" that not only got the singer's attention, but a smile and a finger wave, too.

Perhaps she was waving just to flaunt the blinding stones that adorned her fingers. Diamonds covered almost all of Carey's accouterments: her microphone, her microphone stand, her shoes, even the earpiece she wore so she could hear her backing band as they chipped away on an elevated platform behind her.

It wasn't always so easy to hear Carey, however. On her less acrobatic vocal runs, the singer's words got lost amid the haze of the backing tracks, the voices of her backup singers and the cavernous acoustics that threaten to turn every show at Constitution Hall into sonic miso soup.

This didn't bode well for the relatively staid selections off "Memoirs," but somehow, Carey imbued those stiff tunes with a fresh zeal. Album filler "It's a Wrap" suddenly felt almost as dynamic and spry as "Heartbreaker" or "Honey," the two bona fide hits that preceded it.

Mercifully, Carey went easy on the ballads, slipping into a robe and parking herself in a seat for "My All." The song pushed the singer through almost every strata of her register and after its big finish, she was carried offstage in the arms of a dancer who appeared about two-thirds her size. Turns out, he was whisking Carey away for her third and final costume change of the night. (For those keeping count: four gowns in all, each one impossibly sparkly.)

Reversing the one-two punch she delivered at Verizon in 2006, Carey closed the set with the unimpeachable "We Belong Together" and encored with the power ballad "Hero."

Excited fans rushed the aisles with their camera phones, angling for the closest shot they could get. Carey's black, sequined dress became a disco ball, reflecting hundreds of camera flashes back into the crowd as she hit the song's sentimental crescendo.

The superstar waved good night and feet began shuffling to the exits.

"Did you see how close I was?" one aisle-crashing teen asked her friend, positively beaming. Glee that genuinely makes the crumbling of the American music industry seem like a wonderful thing.

Concert review: Mariah Carey at DAR Constitution Hall
By John-John Williams IV, Baltimore Sun

The legendary songstress Mariah Carey gave a somewhat spirited performance last night during her 90-minute show at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington.

At times, Carey was magical. She showed off the incredible vocal range that has made her arguably one of the top female vocalists of her time.

She also displayed a noticeably heftier figure that she squeezed for dear life into unflattering outfits. (At one point, when she descended from the rafters on a swing wearing a sparkly champagne-colored gown, she looked sort of like a sausage wrapped in ruffles and rhinestones.)

Although Carey emerged at about 8:30 p.m. and ended the show about 10 p.m., her actual performance time was much shorter.

If you count the outfit changes, the stage breaks she took to sip champagne and the ultra tacky onstage makeup touch-up, Carey only performed for about an hour...

"I know. I know. It's diva behavior," she said to the audience.

She wasn't joking.

It was truly unfortunate for fans who paid as much as $149 a ticket to watch Carey rhythmlessly wobble from one side of the stage to the other.

Carey only sang about a dozen songs. (It seemed like more Michael Jackson songs were played during her concert than her own material.) Absent were "Vision of Love," "Emotions" and "One Sweet Day."

A dozen or so songs for an artist starting out is understandable. But for Carey, who has 20 years of solid material -- "We Belong Together" was recently named song of the decade by Billboard -- it is completely unforgivable. Shame on you, Mariah. Shame.

Carey was golden when she performed hits like "Shake It Off" and "It's Like That" from 2005's "Emancipation of Mimi" and "Touch My Body" from 2008's E=MC². They were all crowd pleasers.

On more than one occasion, Carey attempted to show off her whistle register (when she hits those really, really high notes). When Carey began a song with the whistle register, like she did with "It's A Wrap," she was golden.Sadly, Carey had a tendency to lose that note when the music blared in the background -- especially at the end of a song.

Toss in a couple more songs -- the crowd pleaser "Always Be My Baby," "My All" from "Honey" and "Obsessed," as well as some background dancers and that was it, folks.

Overall, it was a disappointment. We all know that Carey can sing the phonebook. We know that she has an arsenal of hits. And we all know that she is capable of bringing down the house. I just wish that she would have put all of these weapons together for a concert that didn't cut corners.

"Nick Knows Me Without The Mask"
Star Magazine, Germany
March 2010

Worst actress of all time - Mariah Carey earned this title after her debut in front of the camera in "Glitter" (2001). And rightly so! Nine years later - and with a new love at her side - she found the courage for a new attempt at acting. And who would have thought: In the two-time Oscar winning drama "Precious," Carey demonstrates talent in the role of a social worker. A rare look behind the mask of the superstar - also because she doesn't wear any make-up. Shortly before her 40th birthday - on March 27th - she seems mature enough to break free from the image of a glamour diva.

Still, during the interview at the designer hotel "314" in Cannes, she hints that life has left some scars...

You are close to your fourtieth....
Stop, don't mention the bad f-word while I'm around. Please let's change the

Okay - let's take another shocking subject. In "Precious", you appear without make-up. How terrible was that for you?
Not at all. And it wasn't only about not doing make-up and hair (styling). I was also filmed with horrible lighting and from an unflattering angle. They also wanted to put a fake nose on me. But it started to eat away at my skin - it's very sensitive, and so we removed it again.
Nevertheless, many people didn't recognize me, and I'm really happy about that.

How did your husband Nick Cannon perceive you back then?
He always sees me as I am - without any masks. And he also loves me as I am. Many people have prejudiced opinions about me and it is difficult to deal with that and say: "I'm not like that, I'm totally different." But now I have the strength to do that. I'm experiencing the happiest time of my life right now.

Nevertheless, it must have been a fight with your ego. You are someone who pays a lot of attention to how you look...
Of course, but what's most important for you appearance and look is your self-confidence. When I was young, I was still completely insecure. When I had an appointment with a record company at the age of 19, someone said to me: "Make sure you are never photographed from that side, because you look terrible from that side." The whole world tried to give me an inferiority complex. I had to learn to shake that off...

Nevertheless, it did look a bit strange to see someone with a glamour image like you have in a moving and dark social drama.
Most people think I was born in a magical bubble. Suddenly I jumped out and started to sing high notes. Big mistake: I'm not coming from a royal family, and I wasn't bedded on roses either. Some members of my family have had some bad fights in the past.

And you were right in the middle of the gun fire?
Actually, it's even embarrasing to me that the public learns about all that. All of that happened in my father's family, who were living in Harlem. I wasn't even allowed to talk to these people. Luckily, we had moved to Brooklyn. But I was still living in very modest conditions. And as I was the daughter of a black father and a white mother, I was always feeling like an outsider.

So how did the thought of being able to make it in show business come to you there?
Luckily, I had help. As a child I took refuge in music, and I also drew a lot of strength from my faith in god. And my mother gave me faith in myself. She was always saying: "You will become a star." People always say: "What doesn't kill you is making you stronger." And it's true, I went through such crap and earned my strength from it.

Is part of that crap also your marriage to your supporter Tommy Mottola, who you divorced again in 1998?
Without a doubt. It was a very difficult relationship, in which my ex-husband did a lot of bad things to me - not only emotionally, but in the most various ways. I don't want to say anything more about it now - it's in the past. But I have grown as a person because of it. In that marriage back then, I wasn't allowed to try myself at acting, either. My husband wouldn't allow it. Now I can finally do what I want to do as an artist.

But when you were doing your first steps as an actress, you fell pretty hard: "Glitter" failed with both the critics and the audience in 2001.
And why do we still have to talk about it nine years later? You shoudn't forget one thing: The movie came out on September 11th. I couldn't think of any worse date than that.

You are ok with it then?
It's not the worst film of all times. If I could turn back time, I wouldn't do it again. No matter how much I'd be paid for it. But back then, I was auditioning for different supporting roles - but nobody was going to hire me. So I went for it - but I realized at once that it was one big chaos. We didn't even have a finished script when we started filming.

Where does this need to prove yourself as an actress come from?
I want to express another side of myself. Yes, I love to be a glamorous singer, but I'm also going for the hard way. I want to get rid of all the layers of Mariah Carey and dive into another identity. It's just not that easy, because people perceive me differently. And I have to break through that.

Mariah in New Tyler Perry Movie
Black Voices has learned that writer/director/producer Tyler Perry has selected the cast for next film, "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf."

At last night's premiere for his latest film, "Why Did I Get Married Too?," the black box-office maverick revealed that the cast will include Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, and Macy Gray.

Based on Ntozake Shange's award-winning 1975 play, the film is scheduled to shoot in June in New York with a possible winter 2010/2011 release date.

The riveting play, consisting of a series of poems performed through a cast of nameless women, known only by a color -- deal with such subjects as love, abandonment, rape, and abortion, garnered much acclaim, becoming the toast of Broadway when it opened at The Booth Theater in 1976.

It later morphed into an Emmy Award nominated television special and is still being performed around the world.

Elise and Carey are the only two that made the cut from Perry's initial wish list that he mentioned back in September 2009, which initially included 16-time Grammy Award winner Beyonce Knowles, Academy Award winner Halle Berry and media queen Oprah Winfrey.

"Making a film of 'For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf' is a dream come true for me," Perry said about the project. "Ntozake Shange's play is a magnificent tribute to the strength and dignity of women of color, and I think audiences of all generations will be able to recognize and embrace the experiences these women represent. Creatively, this movie is one of the most exciting undertakings of my career."

As previously reported by Black Voices, 'For Colored Girls' will be the first project for 34th Street Films, Perry's new production company, which is housed at Lionsgate

she is really busy i wonder what this means for the album she is working for.. no way it would be out this year

Hm, interesting question. My thoughts:

Glitter:

Very underrated in that many cite it as a crap album due to the parent film's failure - this contains some gems and some Mimi 'classic' moments from this decade. I think had the film been bigger, this would be more highly regarded. Such is the world we lived in back in 2001 (and still do now) - the success of the movie decides the success of the soundtrack! By no means would I rank it amongst her career best though.

Charmbracelet:

A vast improvement over Glitter...Through The Rain, My Saving Grace and especially Bringin' On The Heartbreak are not only amongst her best, but amongst the best songs of this decade by any artist in my opinion. Through The Rain is a Carey signature amongst her core fanbase; My Saving Grace is also a gem - her Oprah performance of it is unforgettable. And finally, Bringin' On The Heartbreak is the best cover of last decade in my opinion - purely stunning. Improvement over Glitter, but still amongst the bottom 5 of her career

The Emancipation Of Mimi:

The big success of the decade for her, shifting over 9m copies worldwide. It represented a huge improvement over the preceding two albums. In my opinion, it was very much a 'singles album' - each single released was fantastic, bar Get Your Number. Its Like That was a massive comeback, which should've received the success of Shake It Off (no justice!). Then of course We Belong Together is a modern classic, and Billboard's song of the decade. My personal favourites are probably Fly Like A Bird, Mine Again & Circles

E=MC2:

Easily her album of the decade in my opinion - I can listen to this from start-to-finish, only having to skip one song (Cruise Control - UCH!). Best songs are I Wish You Well, Thanks For Nothing, For The Record, I'm That Chick & I'll Be Loving U Longtime - all should've been smashes.

Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel:

Something is missing, that's all I can really say about this. Still, its probably her 3rd best album of the decade

^ Interesting thoughts, Wayne. It's always a pleasure to read what other people think about Mariah's albums.

And now, some news about Mariah possibly leaving Def Jam (HOPEFULLY IT'S TRUE!)

It sounds like Mariah Carey is preparing to call it quits with record label Island Def Jam.

The rumour mill’s been churning for months that the Precious star was going to jump ship. Sure enough, plans to release her remix album Angel’s Advocate have been shelved and other record companies have approached her about discussing a possible switch.

My source tells me: “Expect an announcement soon.”

Mariah, Nick to Wed a Third Time

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon will be tying the knot for the third time on April 30, which is their two-year wedding anniversary. Expect a similar blowout in 2011, 2012 ... and beyond, as long as they're together.

"We get married every year! That's our thing," Cannon explained to UsMagazine.com at Monday's PepsiCo Feed America Volunteer Day event in NYC. "So it's going to be our third wedding this year. That's what we'll be doing on the actual [anniversary]... We'll do something... A party or event, just to celebrate."

The Grammy-winning singer is definitely getting more bling from her spouse. Cannon confirmed to Us that he'll be getting his wife another diamond ring for the occasion. "That's totally right," he said. "This is the third ring I have to buy...It'll be something different. Something good."

Carey's engagement ring from Jacob & Co. Jewelers reportedly cost $2.5 million.

After dating for just six weeks in early 2008, Cannon, 29 and Carey, 40, wed on the singer's private island in The Bahamas in a surprise bash. "It's nice," Cannon gushed. "We like being married every year."

Mariah Withdraws from Colored Girls

Mariah Carey abruptly pulled out of her role in Tyler Perry's new film this week, PEOPLE has learned, sparking renewed speculation the singer/actress is pregnant.

Carey, who won acclaim for her work in Precious, was set to appear in the adaptation of Ntozake Shange's 1975 play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf. Filming was set to start next month.

But on Tuesday Carey abruptly withdrew from the project.

"I'm not at liberty to discuss her personal life at this time," Carey's spokeswoman Cindi Berger says, declining to give a reason for Carey's withdrawal.

New Mariah Carey Lollilop Bling Fragrances

http://i419.photobucket.com/albums/pp275/iceweaver/Mariah/display.jpg?t=1276787065

Ring Pops and a Marriage Proposal Inspire Mariah Carey Fragrances

When the singer Mariah Carey and her husband, the actor and rapper Nick Cannon, appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" last September, Mr. Cannon told of how he proposed in 2008: he presented Ms. Carey with a Ring Pop, the gem-shaped lollipop on a ring. Inside the package was a proper engagement ring. Upon hearing the story, executives at Elizabeth Arden, the cosmetics company that since 2007 has sold a Mariah Carey fragrance collection, began to develop a proposal of their own.

Mariah Carey's Lollipop Bling, three fragrances that Elizabeth Arden based on candy flavors and that will appear in stores soon, is the product of a partnership with the Topps Company, which makes Ring Pops. Print advertisements for the perfume in August issues of publications like Cosmopolitan, Elle and People Style Watch will show Ms. Carey wearing three Ring Pops.

The fragrances, named after Ms. Carey's songs "Ribbon," "Honey" and "Mine Again," will be introduced by July 1 at department stores including Macy's and Dillard's, where with each purchase consumers will get a free Ring Pop.

Early next year, before Valentine's Day, when romantics flock to both the perfume and candy aisles, the fragrances will be available in mass retailers like Wal-Mart and in drug stores. There, stand-alone display racks will feature both the fragrances and Ring Pops, with the candies in a special "Bling Collection" three-pack that promotes the fragrances. Ms. Carey was not available for comment.

A one-ounce bottle of the perfume will retail for $35, the 1.5-ounce candy three-pack will cost about $1.50.

"Topps sells tens of millions of units of candy," said E. Scott Beattie, chief executive at Elizabeth Arden, which also has fragrance licensing deals with celebrities including Britney Spears, Danielle Steel and Elizabeth Taylor. "Combining their customer base with Mariah Carey's fan base and our fragrance base is a great way to cross-promote all the brands."

Since its introduction three years ago, the Mariah Carey line, with three fragrances, has grossed more than $150 million, Elizabeth Arden said.

In 2009, the company spent $5.2 million advertising the perfume, while Topps spent $750,000 advertising Ring Pops, according to Kantar Media, a unit of WPP.

Noreen Dodge, senior vice president of global marketing at the cosmetics company, said that the current fragrances draw the younger end of the singer's fan base of 18- to 45-year-olds, mostly those 18 to 24, and that the new ones will appeal to still younger fans.

"We think it will bring an even younger customer into the Mariah Carey franchise," Ms. Dodge said. The Lollipop Bling line will be advertised in youth-oriented publications where ads for the celebrity's fragrances had not previously appeared, like Seventeen and Teen Vogue. But Ms. Dodge emphasized that these "are not your typical teeny-bopper fragrances."

While the scents "take a candy element as a thread to be woven in a fragrance," they do so in a way that "elevates candy into a prestige environment," she said.

Laurent Le Guernec, a perfumer at International Flavors and Fragrances Inc. who designed the fragrances, said that while typical candy flavors like grape and banana have "cheap and very common" scents, he was able to build on the Blue Raspberry Ring Pop flavor for one fragrance, Ribbon. Into the "juiciness and sweetness notes" of that flavor Mr. Le Guernec said he layered floral notes.

While the Ribbon fragrance is reminiscent of a particular Ring Pop flavor, the other scents have notes only broadly associated with candy, like chocolate, raspberry, pineapple and honey. The new perfumes are far from juvenile, said Mr. Le Guernec, who before joining International Flavors and Fragrances designed popular scents including Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker.

Founded in 1938 by brothers Abram, Ira, Philip and Joseph Shorin, Topps Chewing Gum, as it was known then, introduced Bazooka bubble gum in 1947, and in 1953 began including a tiny comic featuring Bazooka Joe, who was modeled after Joseph Shorin. The company introduced its popular baseball cards in 1951 and the Ring Pop in 1977.

Today the Ring Pop (tag line: "The flavor's always on hand") is turning more mouths blue than ever. Ari Weinstock, director of marketing for the confectionery division of Topps, said that the brand was forecasting record annual revenue this year. In the 52 weeks that ended May 16, it posted $14.9 million in revenue, outpacing other novelty candies like Pez and Pop Rocks, according to SymphonyIRI Group, a market data company whose totals do not include Wal-Mart.

In 2007, Topps was acquired by an investment firm led by the former Walt Disney chief executive Michael D. Eisner, who is chairman of the company. Ryan O'Hara, the former president of the TV Guide Network, was installed as chief executive in February.

Recent advertising campaigns have "played up the emotional connection that people have with Ring Pops," Mr. Weinstock said. "What we hit upon is that the Ring Pop is ultimately the only candy that you can show off, unlike a chocolate bar that you just consume," he said. "It's a candy that you put on your finger and flaunt, and it transforms you from just eating a piece of candy to being in the spotlight."

Now the brand itself will be in the spotlight, thanks to its association with Ms. Carey and Elizabeth Arden, and will provide Ring Pop samples to shoppers at retailers like Macy's, where the candy has never been sold.

"It's a case," Mr. Weinstock said, "of one plus one plus one equals 10."

The 'Hero' hitmaker has faced a lawsuit after veterinarian Cindy Bressler accused her of failing to pay a complete bill for providing 'extraordinary services' for her dogs Cha-Cha, JJ and Dolomite.

http://www.aceshowbiz.com/images/wennpic/wenn5081388.jpg

Mariah Carey (http://www.aceshowbiz.com/celebrity/mariah_carey/)'s vet is suing the superstar over allegations she failed to pay almost $30,000 in fees. Veterinarian Cindy Bressler filed a lawsuit in a New York court on Wednesday, June 23 accusing the "Hero" hitmaker of paying just $8,200 of a $37,800 bill for providing "extraordinary services (http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/w0004066.html#)" for her dogs Cha-Cha, JJ and Dolomite.

The staggering sum is the fee for a month of care. Carey is seemingly struggling to handle her three beloved pooches - she asked fans on Twitter (http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/w0004066.html#) earlier this week if they wanted to adopt Cha Cha's puppies.

Additionally, New York Post (http://www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/w0004066.html#) revealed about the detail of the legal paper. The suit says, the vet "performed work, labor and services on the defendant's canines... at the agreed price and reasonable value of $37,790.32, which sum [Carey] agreed to pay." The suit further says Carey was "unjustly enriched," and seeks the remaining $29,559, plus legal fees.

Official Press Release: Mariah Carey in Barretos

MARIAH CAREY WILL BE PERFORMING EXCLUSIVELY AT THE BARRETOS RODEO
Concert to take place on the 21st of August in Barretos, Sao Paulo

It has been confirmed that the North American super star Mariah Carey will be performing at the 55th Barretos Rodeo, the biggest of its kind in Latin America. The concert will take place on Saturday, August 21 on the main stage of the Rodeo Arena. The rodeo will take place from the 19th to the 29th of August.

Mariah Carey has made an indelible impact on the global music industry and audiences everywhere as the best-selling female artist of all time whose eighteen #1 singles rival all but The Beatles. As a singer and songwriter, Ms. Carey has been recognized with five Grammy Awards, nine American Music Awards, Billboard's "Artist of the Decade" Award, The World Music Award for "World's Best Selling Female Artist of the Millennium," and was named one of Rolling Stone's select "100 best artists of all time" list, to name a few accolades.

The fifty thousand capacity arena will stage Mariah's super production as it is her only scheduled show in Brazil for the year and will mark her second time performing in the country.

INTERNATIONAL CONCERTS
Mariah Carey's performance retakes a tradition of the Barretos Rodeo of having an international concert during the event, which has had Shakira (1995), Garth Brooks (1998), Alan Jackson (1999), Reba McEntire (2000) and A-HA (2001). The event hasn't had an international concert since A-HA.

"We have been dreaming of an international concert for almost a decade and now we are returning with one of the biggest names of music in the world," says the President of the Barretos Rodeo, Marcos Murta.

In addition to Mariah Carey's concert, the Barretos Rodeo will have over 100 national concerts during the 11 days of the event, which includes a national and international rodeo.

Wayne
08-24-2010, 09:03 AM
Now you've heard more HQ versions, do you not agree that she lipsynched a lot? Still, the parts that were live showed Mimi in great voice - the best she's sound since her E=MC2 days? And the crowd were really into her, singing her songs word-for-word. I Still Believe and My All in particular gave me goosebumps on that front.

On a side note, I uploaded all of Mariah's discography to my iTunes yesterday, and I must say, her career up until Butterfly was darn near flawless. However, I personally feel that whilst recording some awesome music between 1997-2006, she would not reach her quality best until 2008, with E=MC2. Fabulous career as a whole!

HeatSeeker
08-26-2010, 03:42 PM
I was ecstatic to see Mariah be herself - happy, relaxed, comfortable, confident, and really into the songs. She really did sound great live, probably her best since 2006! It was obvious when she was lipping, which fortunately didn't happen a lot, but I wish she hadn't because when she actually sang she managed to hit all the notes. I needed this, because I've been very disheartened about the quality of her recent live performances. Hopefully this is just an indicator of being back on form!

I'm baffled that you don't love Butterfly, Wayne. It's got to be her biggest Gay Anthem album lol! Maybe you didn't like her vocal style, i.e. the whispering? I think most of that style worked perfectly for the songs (unlike in Rainbow and Charmbracelet), and when she sang she really SANG. The ending of Outside is just...WOW.

Can you not listen to that song and Close My Eyes and see them as beautiful gems? Ah, I love them so much. I guess we just have different tastes!

Mariah Responds to Pregnancy Rumors:

http://www.rap-up.com/2010/08/26/mariah-carey-addresses-pregnancy-rumors/

Mariah Carey made headlines earlier this week when she turned up to perform in Brazil, looking a bit bustier than usual. After remaining silent on speculation that she was pregnant, Mimi has finally broken her silence, releasing a vague statement to her website that neither confirms nor denies that she’s got a bun in the oven.

“I appreciate everyone’s well wishes. But I am very superstitious,” said the singer. “When the time is right, everyone will know — even Cindi Berger [my publicist].”

Hubbie Nick Cannon has also remained mum on the subject, telling New York City’s 92.3 NOW FM radio station that his 40-year-old sugar mama wouldn’t discuss her pregnancy status. “Honestly… I say this to you so you can tell whoever it is you’ve got to tell, we all know it’s extremely personal, and it is for a woman to deal with things with her body, and especially when dealing with the idea of childbirth and all that stuff,” he stated.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it time and time again,” he continued. “When my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her.”

Hmm, her ABC special got a 1.1 rating with 4.89 million viewers. Not very good at all, but it did better than it's lead in 'Skating With The Stars' but that show is doing worse week-on-week lol.

Wayne
12-14-2010, 06:19 PM
It also did better than Beyonce's special (4.4m) and Taylor's (2m+). Not bad at all, and its certainly had an iTunes impact!

Neil
12-14-2010, 06:57 PM
LOL Taylor's was about 4.4 as well. Those were also both on Thanksgiving so you can't really compare.
So yes, as a music special it did OK. As a prime time slot on ABC it did not.

Wayne
12-14-2010, 07:07 PM
Did Taylor do a 4.4 rating or draw 4.4m viewers?

Also, prime-time or not, that doesn't matter. There is always going to be a limited audience for a star-central show like Mariah's. If you were a fan,, you watched it. If you werent, the likelihood is that you didn't watch it. Its not like Top of the Pops, where many artists perform.

Neil
12-14-2010, 07:38 PM
Gosh, no not a 4.4 rating! 4.4m viewers.

I thought the concert was pretty boring actually. For us fans who know and love the songs and love seeing Mariah live on TV, it was a treat, but I think the average listener wouldn't be too impressed by the show.

She did look veerry pretty though, and they did a great job of toning down her weight on camera lol. Her voice wasn't raspy and she seemed happy, so overall there was a good positive vibe. But it was lacking somehow, Oh Santa! started off well then the middle part was a bit underwhelming. Surprisingly, I liked CBC because of the Charlie Brown part in the beginning :tehe:

Neil

I've only seen a few songs but you could tell that there was a lot of post production work on her vocals.
And she still mimes certain bits which is so annoying. Like, during Oh Santa you can hear her actually going really high, but then there's a distinct difference when the track kicks in and it just really annoys me. She did the same with every IWTKWLI performance last year as well. GRR.

Yep that performance was lipped/edited to the max. It seems to be getting a great response from viewers though, and as long as it helps casual watchers get interested enough to buy a copy of her album, I'm happy.

She did sound great on the parts that were actually live. I guess she's just insecure.

This is hilarious - even goats love this classic

How Mariah Makes Goats Produce More Milk

What do goats want for Christmas? Mariah Carey music, it seems.

A farmer has discovered that by repeatedly playing her festive favourite All I Want For Christmas Is You to his herd he can increase milk production by 20 per cent.

Whenever US pop diva Mariah's 1994 record pipes up the goats immediately relax and produce around an extra pint each a day.

Angus, 57, who runs St Helen's Farm in Seaton Ross, near York, said: "We are absolutely dumbfounded by the difference playing this song has made to the goats. Our milk maids started listening to the radio when they were milking them. They immediately noticed the animals were more relaxed and started producing more milk as a result. When one of the girls brought in a CD of Christmas classics they seemed to perk up when the Mariah Carey song came on. It's really upbeat and they seem to love it. I think the staff here are sick of it now but unfortunately it works for the goats."

Angus, who runs the farm with wife Kathleen, 55, has tried treating the goats with different Christmas-themed songs. The goats like carols but Wizzard's I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday actually slowed down production and The Christmas Song by The Chipmonks brought it to a halt.

St Helen's Farm milks 2,000 goats. Each produces about three litres a day...or three and a half litres if Mariah is playing.

Nick confirmed that they're having twins, yay! I hope it's a boy and a girl. He also said they had an ultrasound last night and everything is looking great, and that 'One Child' was inspired by her pregnancy, which I figured :tehe:

Does anybody have an HQ MP3 of Secret Love? I could rip it off a YouTube video but I'm a quality snob.

EDIT: Found one :)

Yay for her having twins. To be expected though I guess.

Which do we prefer? I'm currently being anal, mostly through boredom and checking all my tags and album art on iTunes.
I currently have the 4th one. My actual CD is the second one... I think I prefer the second one but it's a bit blurry compared to the first and that's the best quality I can find :(
