Even though she's lipping most of it, I get GOOSEBUMPS when the crowd start applauding her, and then give her a standing ovation during the big whistle. I SO would've done the same if I was there :D

"Always Be My Babies" - Fan Gift For Mariah's Babies Shower
Fans all over the world are welcome to participate in an exciting fan initiative. As you all know, Mariah and Nick are expecting twins - a boy and a girl!
Mariah's babies shower is getting close and Team Mariah is joining forces with Mariah's biggest fans worldwide to create the ultimate baby gift for the Carey-Cannon twins!
To participate, please write a short letter (no more than 2-3 paragraphs) addressed to the twins! Please note that the letters should not be addressed to Mariah herself. We want this book to be unlike any other, one that the babies will be able to read one day, to be able to learn about their mother from the lambs' point of view, and what she means to her fans.
E-mail your letter to TeamMariah@mariahcarey.com, along with your name, country and any pictures you may wish to include (such as an album cover or an event you may refer to in your letter.)
Deadline for submissions is February 28, 2011 at 5:00pm EST.

Simon mentioning Mariah's special X Factor role again & giving props to the queen:
Broadway World: Can you confirm Mariah Carey as a judge on X-Factor?
Simon Cowell: She can't do it now because she is pregnant, but we think we may have a role for her on the live shows - which she is excited about and I am excited about. And, I adore Mariah - I spent a couple of hours with her a week or so ago. She is always great company because she is ambitious and she wants to be on this show. I am happy to find a role for her on X-Factor.
BW: She is rumored to be doing a Broadway Christmas show. Do you think it's time for Mariah to take on Broadway?
SC: Yeah. One hundred percent. I mean, I've always been a massive fan of hers as an artist, and, now, I've gotten to know her well. She's a great person - she really is. I adore her.

He also mentioned her in a US Weekly interview:
Q: Describe a dream auditioner.
Somebody who, in the real world, can go toe-to-toe with Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga - or if we're going for older singers, the new Mariah Carey... Oh, she'll probably kill me for saying that!

Simon bums all of the big voiced singers, he likes nobody more than Whitney Houston, who he thinks is the greatest singer of all-time. But we all know that isn't true :tehe:
Diego, I need help; I am actually addicted to the Emotions album; its SUPERB. Its gone from being my least favourite album of hers from the 90's, to my favourite of hers EVER. Even more than her debut, which I also ADORE. Till The End Of Time is potentially in my three favourite songs of the 90's. Atmospheric and stunning

OMFG!! I'm glad someone appreciates that album :cheer: I can relate - I used to think it was pretty boring but once it sunk in...Hallelujah!
I definitely wouldn't place it among her top 3 albums, but it's a stellar one for sure. I remember you complimenting So Blessed - how freaking lovely is that song? And Till The End of Time is its just-as-gorgeous sister  Power to those two songs! <3

Mimi made #2 on Billboard's list of best Billboard Music Award performances!
Like the Billboard charts themselves, the Billboard Music Awards has a history of celebrating a diverse cross-section of the music landscape. From the pitch-black rock of Metallica's "Unforgiven II" to the seductive pop of Britney Spears' "I'm a Slave 4 U" to the soulful R&B of Alicia Keys' "A Woman's Worth," the ceremony has collected music's biggest stars and let their hits shine in front of millions.
Billboard takes a look back at 10 of the show's most memorable performances. Mariah makes the list with her amazing live performance of "I Still Believe."
1. Britney Spears, 2001 - "I'm A Slave 4 U"
2. Mariah Carey, 1999 - "I Still Believe" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIQtvx-nG-8&feature=player_embedded)
3. 'N Sync, 2000 - "Just Got Paid"
4. Metallica, 1997 - "The Unforgiven 2"
5. R. Kelly, 2005 - "Slow Wind"
6. Nelly, 2004 - "N Dey Say"
7. Destiny's Child, 2000 - Medley
8. Pink, 2003 - "God Is a DJ"
9. Alicia Keys feat. Angie Stone & Eve, 2001 - Medley
10 Shania Twain, 1995 - "If You're Not In It For Love"
She also won FUSE's poll on which pop diva has the best fans (irrelevant poll really, but still cool :p)!
And The Winner Is...
Fuse asked which pop diva has the best fans. Eight weeks and 12.4 million votes later Mariah Carey's Lambs have won the Battle of the Fans polldown!

Mariah gives birth of twins, named Moroccan & Monroe...
What very odd names, despite it being obvious why! And also, WTH @ them both being Cannon! :o
HeatSeeker
05-05-2011, 02:59 AM
^ What do you mean about them both being Cannon? Naturally, they'd legally have their father's last name.
Here's the press release:
Mariah Carey and her husband Nick Cannon have finally revealed the names of their twins who were born in Los Angeles on Saturday.
Their son is named Moroccan Scott Cannon. Scott is Nick's middle name, as well as his grandmother's maiden name.
The top tier of Mariah's New York City apartment is called the Moroccan Room, because of the Moroccan-inspired decor. It's also the place where Nick proposed to his wife, overlooking Manhattan!
Their daughter's name is Monroe Cannon. Mariah's rep says she does not have a middle name because Mariah herself does not have one. Monroe was named after Marilyn Monroe, who has been an inspiration to Mariah her whole life.
In fact, Mariah purchased the Hollywood icon's white piano from Christie's auction house and it is in Mariah's will that the piano will one day go to the Smithsonian.
Mariah's rep, Cindi Berger, tells CNN, "It has been a long, emotional journey for this family, and I couldn't be happier for all of them."

Mariah Carey is focusing all her attention on motherhood these days, but she hasn’t forgotten about her career. Monroe and Moroccan’s mother, who was playing music during the delivery of her twins, is already planning her next album, says husband Nick Cannon.
Aside from last year’s holiday collection Merry Christmas II You, the singer hasn’t released a studio album since Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel in 2009. “She’s been truly inspired by this experience and she can’t wait to get back into the studio,” Nick told Rap-Up.com. “She’s already been doing some preliminary work and meeting with a lot of producers and has tons of ideas, so I guarantee you can expect something soon.”
But one thing you shouldn’t expect is a collaboration between the new parents. “We might joke around and do something, but I’m not worthy to be in the studio with Mariah Carey. I do silly, jokey songs,” laughed the host of “America’s Got Talent,” whose comedy album Mr. Showbiz is now available on iTunes.
Nick, who’s working on a music album of his own with Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, and Akon, bounces ideas off his wife. “That’s my best friend. Anything I do—she’s my toughest critic. She’ll say something’s wack, she’ll call it out like that. If she loves something, she’ll say she loves it. That’s my right hand so anything I do, she’s definitely involved in it.”
When they’re together, the couple listens to throwback R&B records and gospel. “We listen to a lot of old school stuff like The Gap Band and El DeBarge. The Clark Sisters—a lot gospel music goes on in our house.”
Those who can’t wait for Mariah’s return may get a glimpse of her this fall on Fox’s “The X Factor.” “Her and Simon [Cowell] talk quite frequently about what she wants to do,” shared Nick, “but she’s Mariah so she’s only gonna do it if she can do it her way.”
Exciting!

Okay Lambs, I've got a challenging question for you - say Mariah had begun her career in the year 2001, and her debut album had been the Glitter soundtrack. This means none of her 90's material had ever been created, only the music from Glitter to the present day. Do you think you'd still be a Lamb? What about a fan? Or would you just be a casual listener?

Personally, I became a fan when I heard & bought TEOM in 2005, and after listening to it long enough and watching the amazing era she was having I became nearly obsessed with her. That album still remains my favorite from her along with Butterfly. I liked Glitter, was so-so with Charmbracelet, liked E=MC^2, liked Memoirs, liked MCIIY. Contrary to some Lambs, I do love the modern hip-hop sound she does, and even don't mind the guest rappers. So overall, I do think I'd still be a pretty big fan. As with most people though, I believe the 90's is where she really shone and was obviously at her prime. Also, part of her appeal to me is her story from the beginning - from her troubled childhood to how she got signed to the confining marriage to Motolla to the metamorphosis with Butterfly to her slump in the early 00s to her remarkable comeback with Emancipation. I wasn't there when everything happened, but reading about it over the years has truly fascinated me. Her breakdown and comeback and musical style wouldn't have meant nearly as much as they do without putting them into context with all the things that went on in her first decade.
So maybe not a Lamb, but a pretty big fan for sure. There's also her personality, in the early-to-mid 90's she was so shy and reserved in a cute, innocent way, and it wasn't till her divorce that she started really blossoming and showing who she was. And while I do wish she'd retain some of that early 90's class, her festiveness and sense of humor this past decade are completely adorable http://fotpforums.com/images/smilies/yahooFlutter.gif

Well firstly, I'm not a lamb - I hate the term - however, I am a mahoosive fan of the lady. For me personally, I wouldn't be anywhere near as big a fan of her if it was just her 00's work. The closest to perfection that she has come this decade was in 2008 with E=MC2. Back in the 90's, she reached the pinnacle of perfection on 4 separate occasions.
Her 00's work is so patchy. But then that's only in comparison to her 90's work. As standalone material, its not that bad I suppose; Bringin' On The Heartbreak, My Saving Grace, Through The Rain, Last Night A DJ Saved My Life - these are all from the beginning of the decade, and I think that they would've been enough to keep me hooked for a while, if she was an emerging artist. However, she totally would've lost me with The Emancipation Of Mimi, which is quite possibly the most overrated album of the decade. And then she would've got me back again with E=MC2 which whilst not being the ideal Mariah for me, how can one ignore the epic beauty of I Wish You Well? I'd love it if she saw 2011 for what it is - its the beginning of her third decade in music. And she finally needs to grow up, and start putting out respectable, well thought out, decent music. I'm not saying it has to be boring, I'm not even saying that it has to be ballads - Alicia Keys and Mary J both do good, classy R&B music without acting like sluts - just come back with decent music. MCIIU represented a welcome return to form for me.
To summarise, yes to 2000-2003. No to 2005-2007. Yes to 2008-2010

Thanks for answering the question! I still cannot believe that you don't appreciate TEOM. I fell in love with it before We Belong Together exploded and pushed the album to huge heights, and I would have loved it whether it sold 10m or 10K copies. I agree about her changing her sound and finally growing up, and also to stop trying to replicate TEOM. What she should take away from that era, is her outstanding promotion and her vocal finesse, but going for WBT Part X needs to stop.
MCIIY was indeed a ray of hope that maybe her sound and image are maturing. She's already achieved so much success, inspired so many people with her voice, proved she can comeback from the pits, had her emancipation and her fun, now she needs to show people once again why she deserves to be respected as one of the legends and making QUALITY music people will remember years from now, even if it's not commercially viable since the times are changing.
Like you Diego, I became a fan during the Emancipation era...
Although, Mariah was constantly being played during my childhood. My Mum had the #1's album and was always fucking playing Hero & Without You. Gosh I hated them back in the day. She had a cassette which must have been the only thing she played in the car for about 5 years. It had those 2 songs on it, some Annie Lennox, "Golden Brown" by the Stranglers... a couple of tracks from HIStory, Charles & Eddie "Would I Lie To You". I hated all those songs back then, haha.
But yes. I digress. I was aware of who she was and most of her singles but not until I got Emancipation for my Birthday did I pay any notice to her. And then between getting that and the release of E=MC2 I bought her back catalogue and just fell in love. Emancipation remaining my favourite album. It's temping to say that Butterfly is my 2nd favourite album, but honestly... "My All", "Honey", "The Roof" & "Breakdown" aside I would find it very difficult to recall the melody of any of the other songs on the album! I know every song inside out on Emancipation, E=MC2 & Memoirs. But every album before that I'm not 100% familiar with.
So if her past work never existed, yes I would still be a humongous fan. But most of my favourite tracks are from older albums. I need my weekly fix of "Honey", "My All", "Forever", "I Still Believe", "Dreamlover" etc....

SIMON Cowell has axed another of his favourite girls from the show... Sinitta.
Simon Cowell, who’s now working on the American version of the hit programme, has decided to drop his ex-girlfriend as his helper this year.
Instead he is set to hire pop diva Mariah Carey, 41, to assist him in choosing his acts for the finals of The X Factor USA.
His decision has come like a bolt out of the blue for poor Sinitta.
She’s had that role on the UK show for the last seven years and was hoping he would enlist her services for the US series.
But Sinitta, 42, is determined to fight the move.
She said: “Well, let’s just say feathers will fly if Mariah takes my spot.
“Although she is a mega diva vocally, you can expect another XF USA drama. I won’t just roll over and take it. I hope she can run in high heels.”
Cowell will be jetting to a stately mansion in the UK for the “judges’ homes” stage of the competition on The X Factor USA this summer.
And it’s here where sassy songbird Mariah will join him to choose the best acts from his category.

Ireland & UK News
Mariah CareyMariah Carey’s hugely successful “No.1 Hits” collection will be re-issued in the UK as part of Sony Music’s Girls Night In series on 01 August, 2011.

Lol @ the tacky 'girls night in' cover.
But seriously now. #1's was a great release. Greatest hit was a bit MEH but something for the fans or people new to Mariah.
Why there's been countless other releases, collections, re-releases, budget re-releases since that I have no idea.
They should do something useful and re-print Emotions & Glitter so I can buy a decent new copy!

I like Greatest Hits better because it included all of her singles and a few other tracks, not just those that went #1. In fact, the only thing it doesn't have from #1's was the duet version of Whenever You Call, which I can very much live without.
But I agree that reissuing #1's is much better than doing yet another unnecessary Sony collection. I'm still praying for the day we get a career-comprehensive collection that includes Glitter & Island.

^ I agree; I'd love her to release a hits package with some sort of concept - i.e. a disc from each label she's been with. Or one song from each album to create a single disc collection. Or better still, a Mariah Rarities CD - I'd love for the general public to be introduced to some of her earlier album tracks! <3

Have you seen the Beatles, remastered boxset? I'd love something similar, but even better - like remastered versions of her albums, with rare photos and a biography, maybe a poster or two.
Does Mariah have a fan club of any sort? Celine has something called Team Celine, which works SO well. Mariah should do something similar!

Did Mariah Carey Have Champagne Delivered To Her Bathroom?
We all know new mommy Mariah Carey is a diva!
When you’ve got a voice like that you can be.
But, Star magazine says the mother of twins — Monroe and Moroccan — is “the mother of all divas.”
The tabloid claims that Nick Cannon’s wife was partying at Juliet Supperclub in New York on July 23 and ordered a $450 bottle of Perrier-Jouet champagne to be delivered to her bathroom.
Mariah’s rep tells us the story is “absurd.”
She says Mariah was celebrating with friends and family, “and nothing was delivered to the bathroom!!!!”

Urban-Nation.com reports that R&B superstar Mariah Carey who reportedly is set to head back into the recording studio to work on her next studio album was seen out in public for the first time since the birth of her twins, Monroe and Morrocan in late April 2011. The beautiful R&B singer famous for her smooth R&B vocals; delicious R&B songs and stunning Mariah Carey music videos was surrounded by her entourage which included her personal assistant and her personal trainer.
According to her husband, comedian Nick Cannon, Mariah Carey is all set to return to the music spotlight with a brand new album later in the year.
Nick Cannon said: “She’s been truly inspired by motherhood and she can’t wait to get back into the studio. She’s already been doing some preliminary work and meeting with a lot of producers and has tons of ideas, so I guarantee you can expect something soon.”
Sources close to the singer are already suggesting that we can expect a brand new single and a stunning Mariah Carey music video to be released in late 2011 with an album expected in early 2012.
Mariah Carey`s last album Merry Christmas II You released in late 2010 features collaborations with Jermaine Dupri, Bryan Michael Cox and American Idol judge and record producer Randy Jackson. This excellent Mariah Carey album also spawned the hit single “Oh Santa” which featured a stunning Mariah Carey music video. Look out for Mariah Carey to release a brand new single in late 2011.
Early 2012? Stick with the last quarter Mimi, get yourself a smash!

Mariah Carey (her best raw vocals in terms of pure power, shame she only sounded like this her first 2 albums)
1. Vision of Love
2. Someday
3. There's Got To Be A Way
Emotions (probably the album that took the longest to grow on me. Ballads are outstanding)
1. Emotions
2. So Blessed
3. Can't Let Go
Music Box (shame this is her best-selling as it's far from her best, but definitely has some timeless classics)
1. Without You
2. Dreamlover
3. Anytime You Need A Friend
Merry Christmas (these 3 songs are my favorite holiday tunes, period)
1. All I Want for Christmas Is You
2. O Holy Night
3. Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
Daydream (obsessed with this album, it's probably my favorite atm)
1. Fantasy
2. I Am Free
3. Forever
Butterfly (deservedly regarded as her Magnum Opus - will forever remain her most personal and moving body of work)
1. My All
2. Close My Eyes
3. Butterfly
Rainbow (huge step down from its predecessor, but decent enough)
1. Heartbreaker
2. Can't Take That Away
3. Rainbow
Glitter (I'll eternally be frustrated this flopped because it's FAR better than the albums it's in between)
1. There For Me
2. Didn't Mean To Turn You On
3. Never Too Far
Charmbracelet (Her "vocals" here still sound grating, underwhelming, and embarrassing for the most part, but the songs themselves aren't bad)
1. Bringin' On The Heartbreak
2. Through The Rain
3. Subtle Invitation
The Emancipation of Mimi (2nd favorite album, the first one I fell in love with)
1. Don't Forget About Us
2. We Belong Together
3. Fly Like A Bird
E=MC^2 (deserved to be nearly as big a hit as TEOM, shame it was promoted so poorly when she got married)
1. I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time
2. Touch My Body
3. For The Record
Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (Mariah deserves credit for sticking to r&b instead of selling out, but aside from a few gems this album doesn't get many spins from me 2 years later)
1. I Want to Know What Is
2. H.A.T.E.U.
3. Obsessed
Merry Christmas II You (Hopefully a promising glimpse of what's to come - a return to pop and big vocals for Mimi!)
1. Oh Santa!
2. When Christmas Comes
3. Auld Lang Syne

DREADFUL? Are we listening to the same song? I mean, they weren't huge, out-of-this-world vocals, but she sounded just fine (and that whistle run at the end was gorgeous).

i can take that whistle,. i wonder this song must be great if she still had that smooth, strong voice that i used to hear on 90's.
remember dreamlover, we could hear the smoothness of her voice, the power, and the whistle in this song, there was no raspy voice. her voice was so dreamy .

1. Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey, 'One Sweet Day'
Okay, so this song wouldn't have won if the Mariah Carey fans hadn't stuffed the ballot boxes in this poll. Most of you reading this probably don't think it's the greatest duet of all-time. You're probably enraged to see it here. We understand. Back in 1995, however, everybody loved this song. Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey were both at their peak, and the song held the Number One spot for a staggering 16 weeks. It was completely inescapable that year. Some of you may feel that it hasn't aged all that well, but the voters have spoken and they feel it's the greatest duet of all time. Who are we to say they're wrong?

im not so proud of that poll, coz one sweet day is my least favorite collaboration song by her, . singing ballad doesnt mean you must singing at high note, underneath the star, fourth of july, and alone in love were the examples of her ballads that did not force her to sing at stratosphere high note. i do more like mariah if she sing all out, or she put more soul to her singing style rather than she sing songs using studio voice perfection/vocal engineered.
actually i do not like hero[album version] cause for me, this version was dull, empty, zero soul, but when i saw her performed hero live at nbc special thanksgiving on mtv, my jaw suddenly dropped, she had turned the song that i hate into my favorite song, she sang it differently than her studio version.she sang it with her own style.
underneath the star [live at tokyo dome] is stunning, it's 100 times better than its album version

X Factor: Mariah Will Appear – But Not as a Judge
Posted by Lynn on Tuesday, 23-Aug-2011, 7:52PM EDT
It's official – Mariah Carey will appear on this fall's buzzy new talent competition, The X Factor, a source close to the show tells PEOPLE exclusively.
Carey won't be a judge, but rather a guest of a judge – in this case Simon Cowell, who hinted recently the diva was interested in joining the show.
"Mariah is definitely confirmed to be a part of X Factor," the source says. "She is confirmed to tape something with Simon Cowell at the judge's homes."
And Carey won't be the only celeb guest, the source adds.
"Each of the judges will tape something with mentors they have selected and Simon has selected Mariah to do that with him. The judge's mentor the talent they pick and she will be working with them," says the source.

Simon Cowell Hails Mariah Carey
Posted by Lynn on Friday, 02-Sep-2011, 3:13PM EDT
The X Factor USA judge joined fellow panelists Paula Abdul, LA Reid and Nicole Scherzinger in discussing their favorite artists for a Fox All Access radio special.
"Mariah is everything you want a diva to be," Cowell said during The X Factor: The Judges' Ultimate Picks. "To me if you look in the dictionary under diva it says see Mariah Carey.
"She gets it and it's everything a star should be. Great, great, great singer, unbelievable songwriter and I just adore her."
Cowell, who will be aided by Carey during the Judges' Houses stage of the competition, continued: "I absolutely love her, I love everything about her and she is a kind person but she is also very competitive and I like that and that's what makes her special."
The X Factor USA's two-night premiere kicks off on Wednesday, September 21 and Thursday, September 22 at 8pm ET on Fox.
Lovely words, love that someone prominent finally commended her songwriting abilities!
