Michael Jackson – Essential Michael Jackson – 4 x Platinum (280 000 copies shipped) (certified last week but was only mentionned by ARIA last Monday and forgot to edit my post)
Michael Jackson - #1’s: 5 x Platinum (350 000 copies shipped)
Essential Michael Jackson spends a fifth week at #1, now becoming this year’s second longest chart running album at the Top. However, Black Eyed Peas are up two to #2. Interestingly, the E.N.D. is having a similar chart run to Monkey Business. The latter also debuted at the top and dropped to #7 after seven weeks, but with the Don’t Lie single and the announce of a tour, the album climbed back to #2 before spending a couple of other weeks at the top. Could the E.N.D. do the same during the next few weeks? Stay tuned to find out. The Hannah Montana soundtrack reaches a new peak at #6 and gets a platinum cert. Hilltop Hoods re enters the Top 10 at #9.
Taylor Swift gets closer to that Top 10, she’s up two to #11. Michael Jackson’s collection makes a late entry compared to other countries at #16 and a Slim Dusty compilation comes in at #20. Nickelback moves up to #24 after the add of some dates for their upcoming tour. Michael Jackson’s HIStory climbs from #33 and #25. The Twilight soundtrack moves back up seven to #31.
Gossip and Kelly Clarkson also move up, thanks to the success of their latest singles. In the midst of this, Michael Bublé & Regina Spektor suffer big drops. Talking about falls, MJ’s Bad is down 14 to #42. Fleetwood Mac and Eagles’ Greatest Hits re enter at #44 and #49 respectively, probably owing to a discount in some stores. The Dead Weather also re enter at #48.
Next week, Essential MJ should spend a sixth week at the top. Rob Thomas will climb with his current promo trip. As I said on the other thread, Lisa Mitchell will debut in the Top 5 (#5). Kings Of Leon may move back up as their Notion EP is out now.
