Yay! II had my financial notification slip through today - getting lots of money again! ;)

^ That's great to hear, Wayne. :D

I can't re-register for my modules until September 9th but I'll only be doing 2 modules per semester so I'm curious to see what day(s) I'll have to go in on.

Wayne
07-29-2009, 12:10 PM
LOL that is so the best part - getting your timetable!

I loved that i only had three days a week :P

Blossom
07-29-2009, 12:19 PM
Last semester I only had to go in on Mondays and Tuesdays so it was definitely a 5-day weekend. :D

Wayne
07-29-2009, 12:23 PM
OMG amazing! Imagine it being like that forever :P

To anyone that is wondering, living away was the best decision I could've made. Do you live away Blossom?

Blossom
07-29-2009, 12:24 PM
Nope, I still live at home. I'll eventually have to leave, though...

When I was studying in Germany I lived in student accomodation (my mum had to stay with me) and I got the only disabled-access apartment on the entire campus. I was also the very first physically disabled student to go abroad on the Erasmus programme.

Wayne
07-29-2009, 12:27 PM
Oh right. I bet you've saved a fortune thou! ;)

I cannot believe that tuition fees are £3,225 when I go back! :o I only paid £3,070 last year. Pfft! :(

Blossom
07-29-2009, 12:29 PM
I think fees are getting more expensive no matter where you live. I recently found out that the fees for my secondary school are now almost twice as expensive as when I started there 11 years ago.

Also being in a recession doesn't help much.

Wayne
07-29-2009, 12:41 PM
YES. I read that the number of people intending to go to University is at an all-time high. The high tuition fees coupled with the increasingly difficult entry requirements of most big-city Universities is there for a reason - the government said that over 60,000 applications for Uni this year would be deferred because there is no room  As a result, they have pledged funding and places for over 60,000 people next year

-----
Speaking of expensive...

Cost Of Student Life To Rocket
University in 2020 will cost £60,000

Marks & Spencer Financial Services free guide to Saving for Children
The cost of being a student is set to rocket from just under £8,500 a year to over £20,000 in 18 years time -
a leap of 135%. Children born this September, going to university in 18 years time - 2020 - are looking at a
cost of £60,000* for a three year course.

This conservative estimate covers tuition fees, accommodation and living expenses - and in reality is likely
to be even higher so new parents should start thinking about financing their baby's further education as
soon as possible, says Marks & Spencer Financial Services.

As more and more youngsters opt into further education**, parents should start planning sooner rather
than later for the day when their child takes up their place at University.
Parents looking to fund their child's further education would have to put aside £278 a month, every
month for the next 18 years. For many parents this is unrealistic but long-term investing does offer a
solution. Marks & Spencer Financial Services has calculated that if parents had invested their child
allowance - £68 a month (typical child allowance for one child) - since the launch of the Marks & Spencer
Worldwide Managed Fund (13 years ago) it would now be worth £15,222***.

"Clearly a lump sum of this size will be very welcome if your child decides to enrol at University" said Alan
Rensch, Technical Manager, Marks & Spencer Financial Services. "It's difficult for parents to imagine their
new baby as an 18 year old, yet before you know it, he or she will be ready to fly the nest. And you and
your child will benefit from your financial foresight."

I had to be in college for only 45 minutes today. Had to do one experiment. It was confusing, I didn't really know what I was doing lol. And I have to write up the experiment for next Friday. I'm not doing a science course really, it's TV and media production, but we have a physics class, principles of light and sound.
