New reports that are coming in are saying that not only is Britney releasing an album this Spring (most likely May), but she has been working on it for months now. She was recording songs for this album during the same time she did 3. That gives her around a year to work on her album. That is more than enough time to make a great album. I'm confident in her. Let's not forget that Oops which is her most acclaimed album according to metacritic.com, was put out only a year after BOMT was released.

Britney Spears will release the follow-up to 2008’s Circus in late spring 2010, it has been confirmed.

According to her record label Jive, the singer is working towards a May release for her seventh studio album.

US songwriter Sean Garrett recently confirmed that he is penning material for the new record.

Working hard to make the album what he called "bulletproof," Garrett said despite his proven track record of hit writing, he feels like an underdog on his solo effort. That's why he's working extra hard to prove himself as he plans to continue his winning streak with a song on the upcoming Rihanna Rated R album, as well as tunes he's writing for Lady Gaga and Britney Spears another single with Mario, "Stranded," and a new one from Jamie Foxx's upcoming album, "French Kiss."

DS are usually pretty reliable. BUT...

Singles Collection is released on the 23rd, not the 16th.
Britney is pretty much a Quarter 4 artist now, I don't see her releasing an album any other time.
Also, she's been touring for quite a while now. I'm sure she'll get to work on an album, but I don't think May is realistic.

I too would be surprised to see this released in the first half of 2010... but I wouldn't mind having a new album either!

I love Britney, her music is consistent and "Circus" was a great comeback for her - I mean, Womanizer is one of her biggest ever hits and her tour is beyond MASSIVE.
Britney's smart, she knows what sells. And if she can keep going and going with the album releases, then good on her I say. I'd love some progression in her music, a different and more personal sound to her music too.

I myself would LOVE Circus Part II - except maybe a little darker, so that she could fuse it with a potential new sound

I will be happy enough with another album. Although I have to disagree with you Wayne, Circus Part II would not be my cup of tea. The album as a whole was not as strong as her previous efforts although the singles were fantabulous.

I tend to think she back tracked a little, changing style and pushing herself on Blackout then she went a little safe on Circus.

Maybe now her fanbase and image is restored she can do something a little edgier again? I can't see people buying something very similar to Circus so early on..... that would be booooooooooooring.

I'd be happy if we got an album with an Amnesia, Rock Me In or Phonography on it!! I loved those three from Circus! Can't believe that Amnesia & Phonography didn't feature on the actual album :/

Although I did love Blackout, the album just was NOT Britney. I hated the entire era - was an unmitigated disaster...quite ironic I suppose because most people regard it as her best album

i would love a blackout type album, with a few womanizer type stuff! i love the whole dirty pop on blackout, i loved circus, but it was too much like the first 2 albums for me! whereas blackout every song stuck out! i think if she re released blackout with the promotion of circus, she would have scored plenty of number 1's though, thinking about it, shaving of the head, WAS about as much promotion as the circus tour?! lol
