One of the biggest female stars of the 1960's, claims of 100m+ albums that have been vollyed about by the media are rubbish. Whilst her album sales are nowhere near that, they are very respectable for a woman whose peak came during a time when record sales were a LOT less than the 90's/early 00's peak. Here are my estimations for the legendary Tina Turner's album sales:
SIMPLY THE BEST!

Tina Turner released her debut album in 1973 - it was a US only release and had modest success (reportedly scoring over 100,000 sales). Undeterred by this minor hiccup, Tina would continue releasing albums for the next 11 years. It wouldn't be until 1984 that she reached the big time, and her peak. From the release of Private Dancer in '84, through to 91 with Simply The Best, Tina shifted over 40m albums - a huge amount at the time. In fact, of her 55m worldwide tally, over 53m of it has been sold since 1984. She continues to sell albums through her catalogue today, in great #'s. Her last studio release was All The Best, which shifted over 3m copies worldwide back in 2004. Her main successes however do not lie in her album sales or singles chart performances around the world - rather her touring, in which she is the #3 female touring act of all time, with ticket sales to the value of $670m+. Truly an all-time great, Tina continues to live up to her title of Rock 'N' Roll Queen with her Farewell tour.
