I've been a fan for almost 2 years now, most of you who even remotely know her probably will only know her for her 90's hit 'One of Us'. She is probably one of the most underated singers of our time, she has a heaven sent voice and it has stunned me how truly versatile she is on her albums, when I first heard her 'Pretty Little Stranger' album I was convinced it wasn't the same woman who sang on her mainstream debut 'Relish' because even her voice sounded different.
Here are a few tasters of the wonderful Joan, I know you'll love her! enjoy:

^ Yay! Okay, here goes. I'm most excited to hear Holy Waters!
I'll Be Around
Oh wow! First time I heard her voice, and she reminds me of somebody - what a wonderful melody she has to her voice. She's very Carole King-esque IMO - both voice and looks! Onto the song, I was surprised to learn it was a cover. I've not listened to the original, but this is brilliant. I absolutely love this!! 9/10
Right Hand Man
WTF? Is this the same woman?! :DeAd:She sounds so...different hear, sort of Sheryl Crow-esque (If It Makes You Happy sound) in voice and a similar arrangement to Shania Twain's If You're Not In It For Love (which is brilliant!). I'm not quite sure what to make of this at the moment. This must be the versatility you were speaking of Phoenix  The chorus has the potential to be killer, but it lacks something - I think its too repetitive. However, the song is still really good, the video is hilarious! :teehee:
St. Teresa
LOL @ the start - she bites his ear - 'cya later' :out: The video is reminiscent of Alanis' Ironic at the start in the car :smile2: And OMG her voice sounds different AGAIN :sosp: As has been the case in the first two songs, I think her strengths lie in the verses rather than the choruses (which isn't a bad thing by any means, as the chorus in the first song was amazing).
Holy Waters
What a lovely song! :smile2: Although it abruptly cuts off at the end. It has very nice lyrics too.
Brokedown Palace
I've decided that Joan sounds a little like Sandra Bernhard. Just a tad. Which is a good thing. I really like this song. I think more than any so far, this will be one of those that I'll go back to! Its all about the voice and lyrics here.
Think
OMG a cover of that Aretha classic! This is one of my favourite songs of all-time, with just inspirational lyrics. Joan's version lacks the pizazz of Aretha's IMO - this song only works when you belt it! She sings 'Let Your Mind Go' - well I wish she'd have 'Let Her Voice Go'!!
Who Divided
Whaw, what crazy lyrics! I love the chorus!
Silent Night
To be honest, I think its impossible to do a bad vocal of this, providing you have a good voice. However, most interpretations are just that - good vocals. This song requires SOUL. And Joan has spades of it in this song. So unique is this interpretation, and so stripped back, my new favourite of the whole bunch! Quite fitting really - I saved the best until last!

:) Really happy you like her, and especally 'I'll Be Around' I'm glad you've noticed what I said about her sounding differently imo that's an advantage to her, I think she is really soulful and has a very broad voice, she's definitely one of my favourite singers. I think it's all down to taste etc tbh, as songs which you may not like may be my favourite and the other way around anyway cool for listening, I'll give you online snog! :winkwink: xxx Hope you listen to more of her, her 'Relish' album is really fabtastic! and also if you notice any abrupt cut offs it's because on many of the songs I've uploaded I could only upload 3 minutes of the song! :( *don't ask*
