To all the members of this site,

We've been experiencing a bit of a recession here at Vanity Edge ever since the technical manure that caused us to lose thousands of posts a couple months ago. I was calculating the figures for Posters of the Week just now, and while it's a bit of an improvement from the previous week, we can still do a lot better! But the slowness in activity is not only exemplified by the lackadaisical post counts, it can also be felt by an overall lack of energy from our members, especially established posters that cruise the site for 2 minutes and then not visit for another 2 weeks.

There have been a handful of people that don't fit into that description, especially Wayne and Spawner (among others), whose funky humor has added a breath of fresh air to the forum if I do say so myself.

But overall, I don't feel like we've been doing enough to live up to our slogan, especially when compared to the former half of the site's 9-month history. So we need to do something about it!

I know this site has a lot of potential. It has a slick, modern look & feel, a good personalized banner, and I'm happy with the recent organization changes. I love our members, I'd definitely characterize us as friendly and fun We all just need to contribute a bit more to make it a more active, more enjoyable place in which to post.

>>WHAT WE CAN DO<<

1.) POSTING. Nothing makes a site look more active than a lot of posts, and really, that's the whole purpose of a forum - for a community of members to interact with each other, share their ideas, and exchange information through their posts. You might think a hefty post count is too much hard work, but look at it this way: posting a mere 7 times a day will give you about 50 posts for the week, which is currently good enough for a top 5 placing on Posters of the Week! It's not much time and effort when you think about it =)

2.) SITE EVENTS. If you ever get bored of regular posting, the site offers fun and simple competitions and events to get you going. If you haven't already, click on the links below to check a couple of them out:

• VANITY EDGE SONG CONTEST. Signing up is easy - just go to the registration topic and enter the few things they ask for. Basically, you create a fictitious country to represent yourself, and for each competition, you enter any song of your choice to go up against everyone else's choices, then everybody votes for the songs they liked the most and the one with the most points is the winner. Give it a try ;)

• SURVIVORS. Here, you create a topic for an album after clearing it with Wayne here and ask people to vote off a couple of their least favorite songs each round until only one remains. There are many that are unfinished so head over and vote!

ADDITIONALLY, I am working together with the moderators to come up with new and exciting events for the lounge, including prizes for winners and possibly a rewards system! One such example is the upcoming VE Big Brother contest. Again, if YOU have any ideas just let us know and if we think it's a good idea we just might do it

3.) INVITE SOMEONE! If you like the forum why not let a couple friends know about it? The more unique members we have here, the better. You don't have to go out of the way to promote the site (that's more of the admins' job), but a link or suggestion here and there can work wonders

Rest assured, the mods and admin are working behind the scenes in an attempt to stimulate site activity (so keep your eyes open for surprises!). However, we can all do our part in making this place THE #1 SOURCE FOR ENTERTAINMENT. Get posting, ya'll!
